All this death metal was cool to me like 4 years ago back in high school. I admit it was cool then but now I can't listen to it anymore. I grew out of all that. I can't understand what is said in songs like that. It sounds like a bunch of noise. :S
Yeah, that's my problem with most death metal. If I can't understand what's being said, then I tend to not like it. Stuff like Dethklok/Amon Amarth are easy to hear though. For me, it's just finding more metal like that, that's the trick.DownOnTheUpside said:

and u cannot say that death metal isnt music, not after you hear an amon amarth or an insomnium song. those 2 bands make some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard.
and what are black metal vocals like?
Like a screeching 10 year old who's slowly getting their throat cut, and maybe getting their nails pulled out by plyers too.
Death metal vocals, imo, are awesome, the dudes i mentioned above can produce rich deep growls, they have proper technique that doesnt destroy their vocal chords.
i'm a massive fan of melodic death metal, bands like amon amarth, beyond the sixth seal, insomnium, this ending. Musically they're some of the best bands ever i reckon, some amon amarth songs have just absolutely amazing lyrics and when combined with the melodic guitars produce awesome imagery.
..yeah, im a bit weird when it comes to music, haha.
main thing is, this is my opinion. it doesnt make sense when u say 'this music is shit', there's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion. the dude who i quoted prefers black metal over death metal and doesnt like death metal vocals, i'm just giving my opinion on it.

but yes guttural vocals do suck, and i have acutally listened to 'good' grindcore bands, not just listenened to 30 seconds of a youtube clip.
And at everyone who thinks death metal is just generic trash with an awful structure and shitty vocals, enjoy your Lady Goga.
grindcore/brutal death core is terrible, you all need to stop confusing it with good death metal bands, like Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary and Atheist.

Agree But even Deathcore vocals take a lot of work, people who say "OHHH ANYONE CAN SCREAM" are idiots, they have no idea the work it takes to make it sound that intense, yeah anyone can scream of course they can, but just like singing, it takes talent to make it sound good. And just because it doesn't sound good to you, doesn't mean everyone agrees. I love Heavy music, and when a band does Pig Squeals right I like it. Some bands are horrible at them though, and it seems like they get the most attention.Wasder said:
