They own the lisences for the games...
But I think everyone here agrees, Down with Gamestop.
So why don't we all turn to the internet for our gaming needs, wether a torrent or Ebay?

Everyone wins!
Hang on, aren't you really strictly against piracy? But you suggest a torrent?
I know confusion.
And exhaustion.
EDIT: And I think I detect sarcasm but that might be the aforementioned exhaustio--awh, hell, this can wait until later.
Well, I don't like the idea of downright stealing; I find that just plain unacceptable, but I'm not gonna be able to change anyone's mind, am I? I'm morally agianst downloading a game that one doesn't own, but I'm not gonna bug anyone who, lets say, downloads a rom of a game that they already owned/paid for and broke, or something like that.
People misinterpret my position on pirating, just like they misinterpret my view on religion. For example, I made one comment that someone took as completely anti-religious, while another person took it as me being a bible thumper.
Nothing's black and white, and with a lot of darker grey things, one has to just shrug it off.

What is your point CirrusEpix? Are you trying to say that the Industry losses money via used game sales? So what? That has been happening with every physical product known to humans since the beginning of commerce. We resell cars. The car industry must really hate that, but who cares? Tough shit. We resell CD's, movies, furniture, TV's, and just about everything else humans make. What makes you think the video games industry is so special in this regard? Why should they be any different? Are they privileged just because they make video games? They can get used to the idea of used game sales. Also, digital only downloads are for suckers. You can't lend your game to a friend if you want and you can;t resell it for cash to buy new games. Screw that, I am no sucker.

The truth is, the second hand game market is no weaker or stronger than it was twenty years ago with the Master System, when taken in proportion to new games sales. Second hand game shops were more common that new game shops, and it was much easier to buy second hand because of this. The truth is that now the games industry is one of the most powerful (now overtaking the movie and music industry I believe), the larger companies are getting greedy; seething at the idea that there is money slipping through their fingers through second hand games sales, when in reality, they may very well owe their current fantastic position to over twenty years of trade ins and preowned sales.

They are a fucking business. And they make no money if no one buys the game that you sell them back. So, it makes sense that you don't get 75% of what you paid for the game back.

This, although I have been a sucker from time to time. I mean, you could make a strong point that not sending my entire wallet directly to EPIC Studios is hurting the game industry by keeping money out of the hands of developers. Tough shit. They were never entitled to that money anyway.
