Puzzle Pirates [http://www.puzzlepirates.com]. It's a very good Pirate themed MMORPG, it's free (provided you're willing to spend HOURS grinding for in-game currency to exchange), and terribly addictive.

I used to play that game, on a subscription server. I was HIGHLY addicted to it. The premise is simple, instead of using a combat system for sea battles, each "Pirate" on the ship does a duty puzzle, ranging from bilging, which is kind of a match three puzzle, to carpentry, a spatial reasoning puzzle, to battle either other players or computer controlled ships.
There are also "Job" puzzle that allow you to earn PoE (Pieces of Eight) outside of the battles, as well as game puzzles and poker.
If you havent tried it, give it a shot.

I think there was a pirate-themed mod for Oblivion. It came with a custom pirate town where you could buy a ship, earn a crew, and go out and attack other ships. It was pretty fun.
