There is a distinct lack of thievery and murder on the high seas going on in this thread. I'm disappointed.

I, too, for some reason thought it would involve a group of Somalian pirates despite all evidence to the contrary.

I'm certain there's nothing a bunch of well-paid programmers can make in a high-tech lab that a bunch of sweaty third-world nerds in a garage can't undo.

Her Royal Britannic Majesty would like to speak to you about your incorrect imperial adjectives

Am I the only one who thought of Somali pirates hacking the PS3 for some sort of ulterior technical motive when I read the thread title?

Plus, pirates are not allowed to win.
Yes they arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
OUT!

...right, now I'm a little intrigued in regards to it taking this long, but on the whole, I'm not surprised. There is nothing uncrackable, if there were, then we'd all be working with that and we wouldn't need the security experts to stay ahead of the crackers.

This does raise a big question though: how long will it take for the crackers to make the implementation process cheaper and easier?

That could be bad, I guess. I also found it funny at the bottom of the article was an advertisement for a black nintendo wii. Maybe they think they have won?

ps3 piracy is inevitable. but it wont really take off until blu ray burners are cheap and widely available. after all pirates are by their very nature cheapskates. after that its just a simple matter of hacking the firmware.
