While it's not on any other your systems, I find Prototype to be very therapeutic.
That's why I keep an easy mode save file with everything unlocked; with the using enemies as walking health kits and a decent range of weapons, it's a great game to just go nuts and rampage.

Gears of War is also pretty good for venting; just go nuts with the chainsaw.

For the sake of a PS2 user, how about GTA.
Basically anything you can really go nuts on, but in real life would cause you to get sectioned.

GTA is always good for mucking around. Throw in some God Mode, Infinite Ammo and some funny ass cheats like Super Punch and you can have a ball. That or Borderlands / Rage. Nothing is better than seeing enemies turn into red mist.

Or you can build stuff in Minecraft. Good for getting your mind of annoying shit and just having fun being creative.

So I'm having a really bad day, I haven't accomplished anything worthwhile, my head feels like a massive blister being stabbed on all sides by ice picks, and I have this over-whelming urge to kick the neighbor's small, yappy dog.
Isn't that normal?

OT: I suppose some casual I-Phone game would be the common choice in this situation, but I generally play something like Fat Princess, mainly because:

a) I'm really good at it
b) I'm better than other people at it
and c) I get to show other people that I'm better than them at it.

And yes, I do have a fragile ego.

PS2?

Did God of War ever come to mind? Nothing feels better than ripping a civilian in half.

Seconded! Plus stamping on harpies and pulling their wings off...bliss.

I'd personally stay away from any FPS online as some are rife with lil' campers and idiots who substitute lobbing explosives for actually aiming. Doesn't help my mood even when I'm in an average mood to begin with

Please, I am pissed off. I'm currently very drunk and failing to be able to talk the girl I like, and am now angry at myself. I've just received the whole 'be yourself' speech and it doesn't make me feel any better.

I've also lost the USB cable for my phone...that's also annoying...

Painkiller, no pun intended, if you don't already have it, get it and by the time you've stapled a zombified demon to a wall with a wooden stake the size of a tree you will feel better.

Take any game and either scale the difficulty way down or cheat massively. Either way the feeling of killing insane amounts of people/orcs/zombies/headcrabs while taking almost no damage has an incredibly therapeutic effect on me.

Personally, I like to play Super Meat Boy to relieve stress. It's the only game that I get REALLY wrapped up in.

Also, Minecraft is a good alternative.

Alright, I'm better now. Last night, after recovering from the illness, I played Robot Unicorn attack, and then went headlong into Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. Both are awesome. I have to say that it was very easy getting into both. Once I got into Harvest Moon, I was already loosened up and it helped me completely forget about my previous day. Strange stuff, that non-killing-people-type game.

Today I played God of War. One day I should get the second one. It was between GOW and Dynasty Warriors, and something about Kratos's badassedness and chained knife-slashing abilities that appealed to me. Though I have to admit that the button mashing angered me further like none other. Damned buttons, needing to be pressed in some random order.

Well...

- GTA
- God mode
- Something else
- Profit
Stage 1: Ratchet & Clank
Stage 2: Any of them, especially Up Your Arsenal
Stage 3: ??????
Stage 4: Profit

I've had days like that, and the best thing is usually find something so damned funny, you cannot help to laugh, and the Ratchet games are funny and interactive, so it's win-win.

Also, Deadlocked is fun if you have a friend to drop down pits while they are trying to grind across them. I never did it on purpose, but it was pretty funny.
