i think it's because they truly realize what makes a good movie and will make films that anyone can enjoy regardless of age. I hope that the kids who grew up with Pixar will grow up knowing what makes a good movie as well so we may get a second golden era of film. I have a theory about why all the movies now are terrible as well. A majority of directors in the 70's-80's grew up in the baby-boom era where many new ideas were being tried to give America an identity meaning they grew up with a melting pot of culture. the directors of today were mostly generation X who rejected all the norms of society and decided to make pop-culture their culture meaning all of their movie are unoriginal remakes of something from their childhood or based of some pop-culture dribble from the 80's. I can only hope that as generation Y enters the film industry that they have learned what a good movie is and have ideas of their own... but that may be a shallow hope since (having just graduated high school) I've noticed the majority of people fit into the "douche" archetype, meaning that their lives are heavily based around clothes and rap. One can only hope that people with original ideas can influence the movie industry and keep uncreativeity out.

The characters are all very three dimensional, with their own quirks and flaws, and the problems they face are essentially human. On top of that, they've a great sense of humour and a real understanding of what the kids (and nostalgic adults) in the theatre respond to emotionally.

o2? i thought it was earlier then that. fine, i saw it when i was 6. i honestly don't remember much from those years.
I sense a lot of lies from you, first you say you were only 4... now 6 and I see from your profile you were born in March 12... 1969?
I was born in 86 and was 16 when the movie came out... how can you be 6 (at the time of the movie, 2002) and born in a year that predates my own birthday?

sorry, i saw the movie when i was 4. i always figured every piece of good Disney animation had pixar involved. i actually do love pixar though.

wall-e and up. teared more times then i can remember.
No, they weren't part of everything. However, the first animator of Pixar John Lacetter (who became part of the company when it was a computer graphics company that used him as basically tech demonstraters) is the current head of the Disney animation department, so in a way, all animated movies now are controlled by Pixar.

Pixar is awesome because they have interesting characters. Their movies are also geared toward kids yet older people can watch and enjoy them and not feel like total retards because they make genuinely good movies. Up was the best kids movie I've seen in years.

They are one of the few films that can truly make something that turns the viewer into a little kid.I cried like a freakin' baby when I saw Up.It was a very beautiful film. The films have humour that appeal to both kids and parents, the situations aren't generic and the voice acting and writing is always very imaginative.

The only Pixar film I didn't enjoy was Toy Story 2.I think Nemo was a tad overrated, but everything else is just gold,In my opinion.

I love Pixar. They just make such great movies. They're accessible to children, but they can keep older people entertained. In fact, they're probably the most talented company in the business. Up was great, as was Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. And Toy Story is one of the best films ever made.

I was wondering, why do you guys think Pixar just is so great at making films?
I don't. Monster's Inc was clever and innovative, and Finding Nemo feels epic the first time you watch it (although now I'd only watch again to see the Seagulls). But I never understood the hype behind Toy Story and the rest of their work seems just too cliched.

I think it's mainly the visuals that have made them seem so great. And the fact that their competition is just other film companies jumping on the bandwagon with some simple concept film with some celebrity voice actors thrown in.

Give me a Studio Ghibli, a film with mystery and a reason to watch multiple times, any day.

As already answered, they just know how to make good movies I guess. I love all I've seen. I haven't seen Up!, and I hear I'm worse off for it.

To the OP: I was just about to say, you shouldn't assume that everyone agrees with you
