In case anyone is unsure of what I mean by plague doctor, I am referring to the creepy beaked chaps who went around in the middle ages trying to cure the plague, and their 'uniform' is so recognisable that the great and powerful Wikipedia has even got a separate article for it, which is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_doctor_costume

Now I (and a friend) have decided that it would be great to dress up as these guys for fun, and wander around a city as part of a game that we (plus some more friends) have come up with. However, our main problem is getting hold of decent masks. Upon giving the internet a light trawl, it seems that beyond making the masks (something I'd rather not do), the only options are the very cheap masks (http://www.buycostumes.com/p/805133/plague-doctor-mask#.), or some very expensive ones (Tom Banwell's designs seem popular http://www.tombanwell.com/). Now obviously the cheap one looks cheap, and Banwell's look incredible, but I'm having a hard time finding any middle ground between these two.

Obviously, my question to everyone on The Escapist is do you know of any place where I might find a good plague doctor's mask for a price significantly less than £100 (around $170)? It would be preferable if it was black, and if the seller was based in the UK. Also, if anyone has any further advice regarding the costume as a whole, or any stories about cosplaying as these doctors, please feel free to share it.

Thanks for any help you can give me, it's much appreciated :D

TL;DR I'm looking for a good plague doctor's mask, significantly less than £100

Costume retailers are always either really cheap and low quality, or really high quality and really expensive. I would recommend buying online. I just did a search on ebay and several things came up in your price range. I don't know how many sellers are based in the UK, but the prices for the average quality ones range from $6 to $90, so I think even if you have to ship internationally it should still remain within your price range.

As a real doctor I felt I needed to have that attire, so I made my own. The suit was tailored and the mask made by a small leather workshop, pretty creative folk, went above and beyond for around your price range. Ask around town, you might be surprised.
