I don't care. They could rerelease the game now with absolutely no changes at all, and it would find an audience. Hell, I'd buy a copy, just out of gratitude.

And out of hope that that game-stopping bug after Ravel's Maze is fixed right off the bat.

I played Torment way back when it first came out and I thought the combat was a mess back then. However I love the art style and 2d graphics. I also agree its easily one of the best WRPGs ever made.

i don't mind 3D it add more to the immersion factor and seeing morte in full 3D with expression would be awesome :D

this game for me hands down the greatest WRPG story ever made. For JRPG it was Xenogears :p

Now, what if Planescape is release this year instead of '99 but with modern graphic, 3D, hires, and whatnot but still have the same mechanics, gameplay, char build, combat. Will it still cater to a new audience ?

Have you taken a look at winter voices

Again, pity. Closest I we've got to a planescape game these days is NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer and a couple of excellent mods for NWN2. For the most part it's pretty standard fantasy fair right now, with few developers or publishers willing to stray far from the Tolkien-esq styling that has proven so popular time and time again!
Could you point me towards these mods? I have Nwn 2 now that it's on steam and currently play the campaign with a group of friends. And we'd love to play those afterwards.

No it doesn't, and no it wouldn't. Morte HAS no expressions, he can move his jaw up and down and roll his eyes and that's it. HE HAS NO FACE MUSCLES. The character worked because his expressions were narrated instead of shown, and thus left to the imagination. A 3D morte would either look goofy as hell (flexible bones) or would not look expressive at all.
well to me it does, and it would. so yeah personal preference ;)

I recently gave Planescape: Torment a go for the first time.

It was alright. Setting was cool. Characters were interesting. Story was promising. Some good dialogue.

Sadly, the combat sucked ten kinds of arse and the interface was made by the devil.

I dropped it as soon Dragon Age 2 came out. I might get back to it when I run out of nice new games.

Also, that baldur's gate 2 redux looks godawful. At least Jaheira's face is sort of realistic, but no comment on the body.

On-topic now: a Planescape Torment in this day and age, with modern graphics, would be an impressive feat indeed. That said, are you daft? It was too slow-paced and narrative-driven FOR THAT TIME, it would be a total disaster for the drooling casual console gamers of today. Not that its control scheme could fit on a console without being bastardized, anyway.

So yeah, Planescape was sadly always destined for the specific niche that prefers a bit of adventure game into their RPGs.
You're just a bitter guy aren't you?

I have yet to get into Planescape, as I'm kind of lost on the concept on the moment (I have the game, but am kinda aimless right now) but it doesn't look too bad. It's certainly smoother than the older cRPG's.
