Ok odds are you know about the enhanced editions for the Baldur's Gate games. If you don't know then Trent Oster, the head of Beamdog who are doing the remakes, has said that the 2 remakes of BG1&2 are leading up to BG3. Now he has also said that after they finish those they want to do a remake of Planescape Torment. This isn't a rumor or confirmation since on his twitter he said they want to but that doesn't mean they will or have permission to. Here's the link to his twitter to check it out for yourselves.

Well Planescape Torment is the one I really want since I tend to like Black Isle/Obsidian's work more than Bioware's so I really hope they will be able to but I do have some fears for it. Beamdog makes sense for the BG games since they were started by ex-Bioware members but Black Isle work? Well at least by the time they would get around to it they would have a lot of knowledge with the Infinity Engine so there wouldn't be a lot of bugs but what about adding new content? How would they do that without getting Obsidian themselves or at least some ex-Black Isle members? Ok new news they have said the Planescape Torment remake along with BG3 will be decided on the financial success of the enhanced editions. People let's get on that in a few months when they actually release the BG enhanced edition. Please. Do it for the children.

sounds nice. the graphics of the original are dated. very very very dated. I still play through the game every now and again, but bringing it up to BG1 or even BG2 wouldn't be a bad thing.

Well I have no problem playing it using the widescreen save for the flickering outside of your line of sight. However now for some reasons the mod guide I was using doesn't work anymore for some reason so now I can't play it. I just can't play games on the infinity engine without at least upping the resolution and if I'm doing that why not use the bug fixes or use the unfinished business mods.

I'll be honest and just say that it seems a little pointless, as planescape was all about the story and not the graphics / gameplay. I don't see the point in fixing whats not broken.

Even though the graphics are outdated I still don't see anything wrong with them. To me the only thing that could get redone better is the combat.
Also with Obsidian saying they might do kickstarter program to make a Planscape sequel it wouldn't be a bad thing!

Well I would say it isn't pointless because Planescape Torment was released under horrible conditions and budget problems. A ton of things had to be cut and they had to cut off support very quickly because they had no money to spend on it. If they fix all the bugs and add in all the lost content properly then I have no problem with this. Though the gameplay shouldn't be left alone since even fans of it hate the gameplay and that is broken so the don't fix what isn't broken rule doesn't apply since a lot of it is broken.

Don't expect the planescape sequel since they don't have the licenses to do anything with it. Atari or Hasbro owns the D&D licenses and the games that came with them as well. Also with how much that would cost I doubt they would use kickstarter for that since so much of it alone would have to go to the license alone.

All they have to do to improve Planescape is cut everything in between when you leave Sigil and when you get back.

Combat? What combat?

Unlike BG and BG2 PS:T could do with a de-bugging. If it prompts a few more people to question what can change the nature of a man then I'm all for it. Also Ignus needs more love, he is literally the hottest character in video games. What do you wish of Ignus? Ignus wishes to BURN.

This needs to happen, if only to bring exposure to a new generation of gamers.

At the very least that interface needs a fixin', to say nothing of bugs that were never fixed.

I still dont understand why people want a BG3

The game ended spectacularly with Throne of Bhaal, and a sequel would obviously change the ruleset over from AD&D. Half the fun for me with BG1 and 2 was the clunky AD&D ruleset.

if its all about the story and the graphics/gameplay dont bother you why fear an update at all so long as the story is intact youd enjoy it just as much right?.

A Planescape: Torment remake would be totally fucking awesome!

I still have the original, but I'd love to see an update. Or, dare I wish, a sequel. Perhaps the characters from the first game seeking out the soul of the Nameless one?

I'm guessing it would be an "unofficial" sequel. As Obisidan have stated that they would like to make a new top down isometric rpg. But they would need to do a kickstarter program as no publisher would pay money for a genre that hasn't existed since 2001. Would be awesome though as Obisidian, when they were BlackIsle were the masters of the isometric rpg.

Even if there were to be a sequel im sure Atari would see the potential in revenue they could get. As they are still making money of the original.

That would be nice. I never completed the original, but I would be interested to see what they do with the remake. Might be worth checking out. Oh, and if they are reading this: clean up the writing. When I play a game, I don't want to read a book. I want to play a game. So don't make me read pages upon pages every time I talk to someone, 'mkay? Don't do the MGS thing with writing instead of cutscenes.

Considering I own 4 physical copies of Planescape: Torment only one thing can be said: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! :)

Seriously, what do I have to kick to start this project?

I think I would be satisfied with any remake they do as long as they don't touch the story itself (because the story doesn't need it). Graphics? Sure. Combat? Noone cared about it anyway. Additional information about companions? Wheee! Maybe we will finally get to know what is actually written in Fall-From-Grace's journal :). One can only hope all changes will be discussed with Obsidian.

That would be probably the biggest sin that could've been ever done to PS:T. Like serving a cake - without the actual cake. Just an empty plate.
I'm sorry to say, but if you don't want to read, you probably picked a wrong game. Planescape is great because of all the additional informations you get - e.g. "battle" with Ravel through dialogue is stunningly good.
Sorry mate, but your attitude is wrong on this one.

Captcha: "easy as cake" again!

I don't mind some reading, but it was just ridiculous in PS:T. Seriously, they actually took the time to describe, in dialogue, the stuff I was actually seeing on the screen. That is just... Absurd. And entirely useless to boot. I got the feeling that ol' Chris Avellone really wanted to write a book about this, but could not for some reason. So, he made a game and shoved his book in there instead. Cut some of that useless stuff out ("cutting the fat", so to speak), and it would have been a much better game, instead of a game with a book shoved into it awkwardly. :/
