As the people before me have stated, the game has greatly outdated graphics, requires a lot of reading and is pretty hard, especially by today's standards (even though combat is secondary to the plot).

But if you can get past that, this is probably the best (Western) RPG ever made. And there will probably never be another one like it, because no one has the time and money to make a game this deep with current technology.

Do you like reading? A lot? Are you okay with the old graphics? Are you looking more for a story experience rather than great gameplay? If yes and you like what you've read and seen from the game so far then you should buy it. Story wise Planescape Torment is one of the best games, as far as I'm concerned.

Also, don't ever ever lose the bronze sphere. You have to part with it at one point, but make sure you get it back. That's all I'll say not to spoil it, but it's an important plot item that you can lose, and it can potentially ruin the game if it's lost.
Ruin? Hardly. You're just denied an option. But there remain plenty others to choose from.

Damn right you should buy it ! :)

You may find it useful :
Remember to keep at least one CROWBAR with you. You find one or two pretty fast, but they quickly become obsolete in terms of combat usefulness. However, a little later in the game there's a place you must clear with use of crowbar and unfortunately they aren't always available. That was my case and since i couldn't neither go back and buy one nor find anywhere around i had to cheat.

Do you really like noir?
Do you really like fantasy?

If yes to both those questions, you should probably pick this one up (because that is basically what the game is. Fantasy Noir). I wasn't as entranced with it as others were (the game is seriously overwritten. Why do I need a blow by blow description of every single persons mannerisms when I talk to them?), but it was unique enough to keep my interest for a while. I would probably recommend it just by how unique the world is alone.

Actually I think there's a crowbar nearby. Pretty sure you find one close to where you need it in that section. Don't think I kept my crowbar from early on.
Yea, i know. Imagine my face when i couldn't find it where it was supposed to be. Maybe it was flaw in my version, maybe something else, but no, there was no crowbar around. Since then, everytime i try to rewrite the history of Nameless One i always carry piece of steel with me. Just in case. :)

Probably the best example of RPG gameplay ever :)

If you don't mind the outdated graphics and the point & click gameplaym I'd say go for it.

It's got a great storyline that makes you think. And the script is actually bigger than the entire LoTR trilogy :p

Just a piece of advice: Got for a cerebral/charismatic build on one of your playthroughs. That's way to squeeze more enjoyment out of this game.

It doesn't ruin the game if you don't recover it after parting with it. It's just that you miss something rather interesting.
If you don't have the bronze sphere when you get trapped with two of your other incarnations in a pocket plane, you can get stuck there. I think you can wiggle out of it through dialogue, but it's dependent on stats, so yes, you can POTENTIALLY get stuck there if you have low INT/WIS and no sphere.
