Hi, i am new to the forums but I have been popping in and out of the escapist for the past two years now, I thank Yatzee for that. However this is more about the planetside war thing that seems to be going around.

So who here is exicted about it? Ready to take on I think is one of the few or if only MMOFPSes? If you played planetside before what race were you? What did you specialize in and if your picked as one of the 70 what do you think you can help the team?

Me though, I played Planetside on and off for about a year and a half, the game is very fun if you never tried it before. I like to Ninja hack a base, or be a dropship pilot or heavy tank/troop transport driver. So post what you think your good at or what experiances you have had in PS.

First of all, welcome to the Escapist. If you get drafted into this war after joining today I will be forced to kill you out of basic principle.

With introductions out of the way, we can get back on topic. I haven't played PlanetSide before, but I've been aware of it since it came out years ago. I am, however, a fan of PC shooters. I'm a clan founder and leader for a TF2-based clan, so I'm hoping that if I get picked I can bring both my skills and leadership experience into the fray. Those guys from the other two sites aren't going to know what hit 'em.

I'm interested in entering.
I haven't played PlanetSide before but have played enough FPS and MMO's to not completely suck I hope.

I have one MAJOR concern though.
I live in Australia. Most MMO's and FPS games I play which are hosted on US servers have a latency approximately around 400ms. This is low enough to play, but high enough to cause irritation or make it so difficult to function properly that I wouldn't be any help to the team at all.

Has anyone here played PlanetSide from outside the US?
And if so, where from and how high was the latency, and could you still play properly with that connection?

EDIT: hmm, k, I went to look and the average for some of the official PS servers is 200-300ish.
I assume it's playable at that or else there wouldn't be Australians posting on the forums about it without bitching.
Not sure were the servers for the war are gonna be hosted, but it "might" be ok.

Wow, they are serious about this. Failure to show up or don't play enough, or whatever... and your ass is grass. On top of that, your account (Escapist forum?) gets banned as well.

I have been a regular to the escapist for a few months now. I just never contributed to the forums cause i liked watching the videos and news feeds instead. However the instant the Planetside thing came about i had to become a member simply to enter it. I plaed planetside for months on end, it was IMO one of the best MMo i ever played. Granted it did "Die" due to killing itself, but i would be honored if i were chosen to represent the escapist in this battle.

Besides, when i did play i was Terran Republic, oh yeah, and we rocked face
