Am I just unobservant or did everyone else also not notice that guy visible from 1:06 the first time? Anyway, that guy is doing it right, and the guy in the tree is doing it wrong.

For those who can't watch youtube, planking is making your body look like a plank and lying somewhere for comical effect. I noticed a "friend"/acquaintance posted pictures of her and her friends planking in various places around the school such as on the ground in the rain or on the stairs, and I was wondering if it was some kind of art project, but then I noticed more people were doing it. I saw one across two bus seats (one higher than the other) on a public bus. I find it interesting to look at. Is it popular where you are?

Yeah, I've noticed a bit of it down here (I live in Australia). It's not really popular, and if anyone does it most people except their drunk friends will call them a moron. Still, it's nice to see the universe reinforce my misanthropic nature once again.

I think some business ran a competition for the best planking picture, but some people just do it for the hell of it.

This is one of the wierdest things I've ever seen people do.

What enjoyment do they get out of it? Adrennalin when the car narrowly misses them and causes a pileup?

People like it the same reason people like flashmobs, photobombing, dancing, etc. It's silly, but that's kind of the point. Of course, some idiots take it too far.

I can't even watch those. That blonde newscaster started talking and my ears started bleeding. I imagine this is Australia? No wonder it is a prison island.
