I love how they actually think things like this will deter piracy. All it will do is make the pirates become even more sneaky about the way they do things, and piss off all the people who use these things legitimately.

Will people stop being so freaking paranoid. As rediculous as this law seems to be it would never shut down something like youtube. It also has nothing to do with torrenting so im not sure why you mentioned that.
It's the UK police/politics system. The only reason they're going after live streaming sites is to distract attention from the fact they've done bugger all about torrenting and other internet piracy. Or atleast, nothing that works. It wont effect youtube, it probably wont make any kind of difference to anyone. It's just one of those moves that looks vaguely good with the press/general public, and wont get them into too much trouble.

Silly people.

Youtube is not going to be blocked. Them Brits will drag out the minister who proposes such a thing and give him a public flogging.

And then all British Govn sites will be signed by Lulz and Anons' Legions.

And they're all terrible :\ I don't view youtube for last week's Mock The Week. I view it for completely inane stuff that pops into my brain at any given time. iPlayer and such are absolutely nothing like youtube in that respect.

Not unless the government involved wants to lose the next election. The site is used to universally. Also Google would get pissed and we all know that the UK is not China. Google couldn't afford to lose the Chinese market. Britain? Not so much.

Does it not worry anyone else that our reactions to this news is 'The British Government couldn't block youtube, because Google would never allow it.'

These multinational Corporations really are taking over the world.
