No problem, it's not like I have been waiting for a sequel of a game I immensely enjoyed on PC for hours and hours. Guess no PvZ2 for me, since I don't have any iOS-device and I don't intend to buy one.

This is one of the few times I'm glad my job thrust an Ipad upon me...that I didn't really want. Odd that it's IOS only but surely an android version will be coming soon. That's too large of an install base to overlook.

WTF!? They're making a sequel to a widely successful game released on a wide range of platforms and limiting the new one to a single platform!? What the hell!?

Just... How do you explain this decision to your share holders? Even if they know nothing of gaming they must at least see that success on multiple platforms is far better than success on one.

Well, fuck that then, was looking forward to it, but no way in hell im buying anything mac.

I´d guess it´s dwindling sales of iOS devices thats the catalyst for this ridiculous decision

Free to play....

basically i want to get past a level ill need to buy your plants...

I'd rather have paid 2.99 for a complete game than need to pay to win.

I'd want to be angry about this, but the truth is I'm fairly sure this iOS "exclusive" will end up being ported to the PC and consoles a few years later. Exclusives no longer exist in today's market, unless you've tethered yourself to a specific platform. PopCap isn't exactly beholden to Apple.

As for it being Free to Play - obviously. This is EA we're talking about. I'll play it gratis, hit a stumbling block where the mechanics pretty much require paid items, and uninstall the fucking thing.

...Apparently EA decided that the best way to respond to my unwillingness to give them any money was to refuse to offer to take it.

....So....I won't get to play the sequel to one of my favorite games EVER...because I don't have the money or the care to own an Ianything...

Yeah, not happy. Especially since I rather like that subtitle, "It's about Time", get it? *nudges random stranger in the side.* Because it's been so long and because the story is ABOUT TIME. Guffaw, guffaw.

But EA why don't you want my money?
I still wonder what those CEOs get paid in millions upon millions for...

Popcap...show us, please show us on the doll where they touched you.

I'm disappointed hearing this, but I will give Popcap the benefit of the doubt until I play the damn thing...whenever the fuck it appears on the PC.

Sorry for being so dramatic, but I think it's about time I abandon the gaming ship. (pun intended)

Free to play is the future, and that is a dark future indeed.
The days of buying one cartridge and playing it hapilly ever after is gone. Done. Through.

You know what really, really grinds my gears about free to play? Is that it never ends. You have never paid enough. There isn't a fair place to "unlock it all". They just nickel and dime you. It's a freaking SCAM for your money.
It's like a Casino. A slots machine.

And that is a huge problem.

F2P games have no game design, no progression. They are carefully engineered to suck the little coins out of your pocket.

I didn't intended to generalize. I know someone will point out that there are some people doing it right... Still, like DLC, that can be good implemented, like, off the top of my head, Dark Souls, the tendency on the industry is to transform the new technologies and business models into filthy money grubbing machines.

Congratulations! You have just played a demo. Of a game that you can't buy. If you want to play it, you have to PUMP FUEL on it.

No, no, no, no NO.

I've bought PvZ 1 on four different platforms now (not even counting copies bought for less-gamer family and friends), and sunk countless hours into it. But EA isn't seeing a red cent from me for this disgusting cash grab.

"We're confident that players will see the love and attention we've put into this game,"

No I won't because A you're not releasing it on a device anyone in my family uses.
And B, you're still on my boycott list, so I can't even see it by way of proxy of my mother being a fan AND I get to keep my mind clear from shame.

Thanks EA! Thanks so much for staying out of my life willingly this time. Thank you sincerely!

Well EA have lost 5 sales from my family alone, (there is at lest 6 legal copies of the original floating around a 5 member family on PC and various Android devices). An IOS only release is retarded.

Then again this is EA we are talking about.

I'll reset the '## days since EA did something dumb' sign shall I?
One day, they'll get to the double digits... one day.

OT: Well, I was looking forward to enjoy this game the same way I did the first. Buying a (digital) full copy and playing until 4am on my laptop because I wanted to finish "just one more level". Not happening this time, it seems. Makes me quite sad but thankfully, Humble Indie Bundle provided me with a nice backlog of games for now so fuck you EA and Popcap. I sincerely wish this game to crash and burn but as seen with SimCity my wishes never come true :C

What. The. HELL.

I didn't think it was possible for my love of PopCap to turn into disdain and hatred quite that quickly.
You're getting to that point now? Honestly, my worries started when EA fired the guy who was responsible for making Plants vz Zombies the same week they announced Plants vs Zombies 2 was in the making.

As much as I fear everything I know about this game so far, free to play, EA bought out PopCap, the genius behind the first game getting fired it IS free to play and I do have an iPad so I know I will end up playing this. I just hope that there's a good game in there somewhere, because I really wanted a good sequel.

If they can show me one place EA didn't touch them I'd be surprised...

Yeah, I'm kinda losing hope that this will turn out good. I really enjoyed the first Plants vs. Zombies. I'll be pretty disappointed if this sequel loses what made the first game great.

Also time travel? Seriously? That's so cliche.

While I enjoyed the first game immensely, it is my wife who is the resident expert/addict. She has spent innumerable hours tending her zen garden and has become a god at the vase breaking mini-game. Therefore, when I announced that there was a trailer and the game was coming out next month, there was much rejoicing. Then we got to reading the article... she may have yelled an unsavoury expletive.

You've just broken my wife's heart EA/Popcap, thank you oh so very much.
