To be quite honest, I should start trying to find work and Nintendo, because honestly, they could have made a killing on Bayonetta 2. Firstly by the fact Bayonetta has a pre-made fan base on the PS3 and X-Box 360, and with that in mind, Nintendo could have published Bayonetta 2 for the other consoles, and made money of their enemies, honestly a new game is $60 all day long. And if that wasn't enough, they could have built the excitement by making Bayonetta 2 a timed Wii U exclusive, giving fans more of a reason to get it.
There are people who will buy the WiiU only because of Bayonetta, or Bayonetta was the game that changed their mind.

IF N published the game on the PS360, those people wouldn't have bought the WiiU. If those people didn't buy the WiiU, they wouldn't be potential buyers for other games published on the WiiU.

They wold most likely make more money on Bayonetta 2 than this way, but they would be losing in the long run.

They just don't want to admit straight-out that Nintendo is the only reason why this game is being published in the first place.
o.0 isn't that what they they just said though? cause its what it sounds like to me
Essentially, but they didn't seem to come right out and blatantly say it. I really wouldn't want to either in their shoes.

I wouldn't be surprised if at a much later date they publish it for other consoles.

Also, keep working at it Sarah. Looks like you got all of the news duties dumped on you while everyone else is having fun at the Expo >.>
Yeah, I couldn't help but notice all I've seen for the past few days is Sarah Leboef and WiiU news, I could've sworn i was onto some conspiracy about her being a Nintendo agent infiltrating the Escapist. The expo explains everything though.

OT: Nintendo only release their games on their own consoles, it's that simple. Same reason why you don't see Sony's exclusives on other consoles. Had Platinum still been with SEGA on this deal, then they could've released as normal, but when SEGA fails them and Nintendo is the only one taking up the banner, then it's Nintendo's game and rules.

I don't think they have anything to be ashamed of, though. Bayonetta sold over a million [http://www.destructoid.com/bayonetta-breaks-one-million-sales-162656.phtml] copies (and keep in mind, that article is just from a month after its release). That's why I was surprised at the cancellation rumors. I doubt anyone thought it would sell like Call of Duty. A million+ sales is pretty successful by most standards. So why wouldn't SEGA greenlight a sequel?

I can understand WHY its being published for the Wii U......but does it coming out on a Nintendo system mean the delicious, crazy, over-the-top sexuality, action and characters will be cut back on?

That was a big part of what made the first Bayonetta so great.

Hmm...so SEGA's financial issues lead to this...I guess if it's either that or no Bayonetta 2 I guess I'll have to understand.

Ah well, I was gonna get one eventually, I guess now I'll play things beyond the new No More Heroes and pokemon on it. :D

Wtf? I... I didn't even PLAY Bayonetta and this makes me furious. Imagine, you support a game, love it unto death and then it jumps ship to some other platform you might not even own let alone want. The WiiU? From PS3 to some wonky new handheld; srsly?

Man. It's like getting ditched after a one night stand without so much as a "Play it again, Sam." Instead fans get "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." Cold, Platinum. Cold.
It didn't jump ship though. The ship sank. Then Nintendo stepped in and brought it aboard their ship and gave it a blanket and a developing budget.

The fact that fans can take this as not caring about them is at best insulting to the devs.

Well, imagine if you have a ship and it sinks and you had your precious treasure in it. Without nintendo it'd be in the bottom of the ocean but now you get to buy your treasure back from the one who saved it for the price of a wii U, you surely are GLAD that you have an option here but at the same time, it'd be much nicer of them to just give you your treasure back.

(if the metaphor is stretched too thin, them giving you your treasure back would be opting to make bayonetta multiplat on ALL 3 systems)

Err all I can say is the sequel title design look pretty cool. Well at the end of the day, it's their risk to make that sequel into a exclusive to a different console than the first one it was on.

Considering I thought that game got canned long ago, I'm not exactly sure what the fuzz is about.

If it was the choice between not getting the game at all and getting it on a new, established console...I'd like to see it made at all.

I'll assume calling a next-gen home console a "wonky handheld" was a joke, so I'll just let that pass.

Have you ever heard of a series called Sly Cooper? It's about an anthropomorphic raccoon who steals stuff. Well, the series so far has all released on the PS2, but now there's a new one coming out for the PS3.

Guess what? Sometimes a series jumps to the next generation of consoles, and people either have to pony up the money for the new system, or move on and just deal with it. I'm not saying it's necessarily a good thing; Banjo-Kazooie leaving Nintendo for Microsoft hasn't exactly worked out, for example. But if this results in a quality series, console-exclusive or otherwise, then complaining about it is just silly.

So wait.. what is Bayonetta?

Hrm.. Exclusive sequel going to Nintendo you say?

Yeah not worth me bothering to find out then.

Bless nintendo for trying to appeal to the older core demo. Shame its still too little too late to actually get re-converts. But it is still nice to see them trying.

Well now... I see too views here.

The first is the view that Bayonetta 2 would never exist without Nintendo. So fans of the game should be happy.

The other is that Bayonetta was a multiplatform game. I doubt people ran out to buy a 360 or PS3 just for Bayonetta. But because Bayonetta 2 is now a WiiU exclusive, those people that dont have any poarticular desire to buy a WiiU are now left without Bayonetta 2.

There is a difference in jumping from the PS2 to PS3, and going from Multi-plat title to a exclusive, specifically to a console that, for most people im assuming, didnt plan on buying. If bayonetta 2 was to be coming out on the "Xbox720 and PS4", people wouldnt really care, as they would be planning on buying those consoles already. Anyone who enjoyed Bayonetta and was already decided to buy a WiiU wont have much to complain about. But those people that didnt care for the WiiU, but still wanted Bayonetta 2, are now basically being taunted with a game they can never play unless they pony up the cash for thw WiiU...

Thats what Im assuming is the main problem with people. to be honest, I didnt like Bayonetta enough to really care if it got a sequal or not.

As a PC gamer, I am just laughing my ass off over here. The amount of butthurt is giving me such a painful erection right now.

As we all know, its the PC gamers who are the elitist entitled (drink!) twats right? Right? Anybody?

I might be upset about this, I might have been if I hadn't of played Bayonetta 1 and found that it was completely overrated. Seriously mediocre at it's best Nintendo can buy up all the mediocre brands it wants.

How does being an exclusive to a single console reach more people?

Platinum, you see, there's this thing called logic. You seem to be missing it.
Not only that, they are also trying to reach more people on a console thats not even out and shipping units yet. Even then they wouldn't be reaching more people if the fans who originally played it on Xbox and PS3 don't buy the WiiU and get the game as well. It would be highly probable that the game would end up selling less than the first one with the smaller fanbase surrounding the WiiU at the moment.

OT: Nintendo finds something that people want. Offers to publish it. Decides to make it a console exclusive to influence sales of the as of yet unreleased new console. Plan starts to backfire. I'm pretty sure someone had forseen this sort of rage reaction anyway...
