I'm playing Earthbound right now.

Such an amazing gem of a game...
I hope you're playing it on the SNES and not by some other means. Earthbound has some infamous anti-piracy measures built into the last boss fight.

But yes, the game never got the love it deserved back in the day.
Actually, I'm playing it on an emulator since I lost my old copy of it... and I've beaten it on the emulator multiple times.

Team Fortress 2: This is easily the best online FPS I've ever played. All gamers should give it a try.

I can't think of anything else right now.
As much as I suck at TF2, I can't escape the urges to keep trying it. Play it probably once a month, for an entire day.

loTR, Conquest.

It was a bit too short though :(
Only reason I haven't picked up this game yet is lack of co-op. Still plan on getting it one day, once it's cheap enough.

Prototype was pretty pwntastic
Its all the power without the responsibility
And Ive always wondered what would happen if you replaced the Hulk from ultimate destruction with a vindictive douche bag who can change his hand into a fucking scimitar

Oh yeah, not a new game, but I did try out the microphone on Guitar Hero for the first time a couple days ago. My best friend was trying to get his roomate to do it while him and I played drums and guitar, but she wouldn't have anything to do with it. So I jumped in since I'd never seen it before and wanted to know what it was like. FUN! Surprised his neighbors didn't complain about the noise, since that's all my singing really is, but I had a blast. Learned some new lines to some of the songs. And had a real fun time with Korn's Freak on a Leash! Oh my Lord! Hoping he unlocks One and Labamba soon so I can try those two out. Almost thinking of getting the whole bundle on my PS3 since I already have everything unlocked. Hmmmm.... don't really need two copies of the game though.

Oh, they've figured out a way around it?

...

Actually, that's not surprising.

What new games have you played lately that you would recommend to others. And why?
I tried the PC triune demo on steam recently and I would recommend that you give the demo a play-through.
Switching between the three characters - warrior, rogue and wizard is simple and makes for some interesting platforming and solutions to puzzles.
Not sure I would recommend buying the game though...

Plants vs. Zombies - Tower defense with interesting plants, zombies, strategies on how to defend your lawn
and an interesting sense of humour.
Other than the single player campaign, it has an assortment of mini-games and two puzzles modes vasebreaker and I,Zombie.

I have played some great free games that I recommend you to try. (These aren't new I know...)

Spelunky by Derek Yu http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4017.0
You're a spelunker, going around stealing treasure while avoiding traps and enemies.
You start with only 4 hearts, a whip, bombs and some rope , once you loose those hearts it's game over.
However, every time you play a level it's different, so it's eases the frustration of dying in the early stages.

KnyttStories by Nifflas http://nifflas.ni2.se/index.php?main=02Knytt_Stories
Platforming game with save points, a wide variety of locations, traps and enemies.
You spend most of the game running around quite fast and jump-scaling walls.

Cavestory by Studio Pixel http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/f1699.html
Honestly, it's easier to just watch this video to find out about the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr0CCkH49g0

Overlord II. It's fun being evil and being able to command your minions to pillage everything. Better than the first in my opinion.
I played the PC demos for Overlord II and Overlord and I found the controls in Overlord II were a little more broken.
I was enjoying myself a bit more with Overlord, so why would I get the one that's more expensive right now?

I have them on PS3 and the controls are pretty much the same. Reason I like the sequel more is because there's more in it. And unlike Yahtzee, I don't need to be persuaded to care.

I actualy would recommend getting the first one first though, not only to get a feel for the game and make sure you like it, but because it is cheaper. And if you like it, then later you could get the sequel, after it's dropped down in price. Win-win in my opinion.

Fair enough, I'm most likely going to buy Overlord in a month or so... I just have other games I want to finish playing first.

I would rather a game not try to make you care, than introduce a rushed and shallow black / white moral choice system.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)

Just broke out the SNES last night and hooked it up. It was sitting in a box with a bunch of games that I haven't played since I was, say, six. This was the first game I played, and it's fun as hell. I might play Batman Returns after this.

Alas, all my other games on the SNES are crap. I was six after all. Next time I go to a flea market I'll see what's there.

Anyway, I've also been playing Final Fantasy VII (PSN), which is very nice, even on the PSP, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped (PSN), which has what is quite easily the easiest first boss I have ever seen. However, trying to get some of the relics, even gems, is quite challenging.

I would say dead space, but I didn't enjoy it that much...
Crysis warhead and dawn of war II have been keeping my single player life happy, and supreme commander and team fortress 2 have been my most enjoyable multiplayer games.
Oh
and minecraft
