I loved the second one. It's got far better shooting mechanics and enemy scaling, the melee weapon feels a lot meatier and has more variety than a singular swing, dual-wielding a weapon with plasmids is insanely useful (though there were only a select few plasmids I regularly used), and while the overall story/antagonists aren't as interesting as Andrew Ryan/a spoiler that I won't say, in my opinion the writing was just as good.Fishcactus said:Ah, me too, i'm about 14 hours into the first Bioshock and i'm all "This is the greatest, I must tell everyone about this amazing game! Oh....wait."shrekfan246 said:As for me, I only just beat Bioshock and Bioshock 2 over the last few months, even though I had owned the first for something like two and a half years, and I've only recently started actually playing the first Dead Space.
Luckily I have a friend playing through it for the first time too, so I can talk with him about it, hehe
Is the second one worth playing? I've heard opinions ranging from good to horrible on it :s
Personally i'll go for anything that lets me explore more of Rapture.
Protecting little sisters is a bit frustrating at times, but it never really felt all that tedious to me, especially after getting the grenade launcher, mini-turrets, and drill charge (which is insanely fun to use).
It might be worse on consoles though, I don't know, I played the PC version. I do know that I had to tweak an .ini file so I could raise the FOV because the default felt really boxed in, which was an issue I had with the first game as well (thankfully the PC version of that had an option in-game to increase the FOV).
It wasn't as atmospheric, if just because it does a decent enough job of really making you feel like you're a Big Daddy, and the world-building wasn't quite as good, but the art direction itself was still fantastic.
I was actually planning on typing up a user review for Bioshock 2. >.>
