As for me, I only just beat Bioshock and Bioshock 2 over the last few months, even though I had owned the first for something like two and a half years, and I've only recently started actually playing the first Dead Space.
Ah, me too, i'm about 14 hours into the first Bioshock and i'm all "This is the greatest, I must tell everyone about this amazing game! Oh....wait."

Luckily I have a friend playing through it for the first time too, so I can talk with him about it, hehe

Is the second one worth playing? I've heard opinions ranging from good to horrible on it :s
Personally i'll go for anything that lets me explore more of Rapture.
I loved the second one. It's got far better shooting mechanics and enemy scaling, the melee weapon feels a lot meatier and has more variety than a singular swing, dual-wielding a weapon with plasmids is insanely useful (though there were only a select few plasmids I regularly used), and while the overall story/antagonists aren't as interesting as Andrew Ryan/a spoiler that I won't say, in my opinion the writing was just as good.

Protecting little sisters is a bit frustrating at times, but it never really felt all that tedious to me, especially after getting the grenade launcher, mini-turrets, and drill charge (which is insanely fun to use).

It might be worse on consoles though, I don't know, I played the PC version. I do know that I had to tweak an .ini file so I could raise the FOV because the default felt really boxed in, which was an issue I had with the first game as well (thankfully the PC version of that had an option in-game to increase the FOV).

It wasn't as atmospheric, if just because it does a decent enough job of really making you feel like you're a Big Daddy, and the world-building wasn't quite as good, but the art direction itself was still fantastic.

I was actually planning on typing up a user review for Bioshock 2. >.>

Portal 2.

Played and loved the first Portal, was unfortunately spoiled to the ending by Youtube ahead of time. Decided Portal 2 would be different, HOWEVER felt it was too much money at launch for the game, considering how short the first Portal was.

So I waited.

And I waited.

And still I waited.

And I avoided spoilers like the goddamned plague.

And sadly, I did end up learning about some stuff. But this last christmas, when XBL ran its holiday sale and dropped the price down to 20-ish dollars, I picked it up (incidentally, this was how I learned you could buy entire non-arcade games with microsoft points, which I did not know you could do) and I was delighted to find that it was worth the effort to preserve as many of the twists as possible, like PotaTOS for example. (Has the statute of limitations finally expired on this one? I admit I do not know.)

Only problem now is the 2-player campaign. I'm gonna need help with that. >_<

I just picked up the first God of War about a month ago. It's as good as I expected, but I would say I'm quite late to the party.

I've also considered finally purchasing Super Mario Galaxy 2. I loved the first one so much I hundred-percented it twice.. I can't quite understand why I never got the second.

My old game that I love that no one talks about (or even really knows existed) is Turok Evolution. That game is just a trip. It's so satisfying to play with the level of over the top gore and awesome weapons.
Dude, that game was my fucking childhood. So awesome. Dat forboding atmosphere.

I've started playing the 2008 reboot of Prince of Persia. To be fair, it's not that bad. Yeah, combat's shit and the parkouring's sluggish compared to the SoT Prince, but I really liked the subtle little interactions between the Prince and Elika. It really made me feel like they're forming a bond as they traversed the wonderfully broken landscape.

Haha, you should totally do a full review of Bioshock 2. I have it on PS3, but since I played Bioshock 1 on the PC i'll just get it on Steam.

OT: I still have so many games I need to play/played after everyone else. Part of the problem is that I just keep wanting to play Left 4 Dead 2 everyday, instead of starting a new game >.<

Portal & Portal 2 I played just last year...but I guess I got to skip all of the "The cake is a lie!!11! lololol" stuff :p

If you do get it on Steam and find that the field of view feels constrictive, then going to C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Bioshock2 folder will lead you to a file named "User", which you can open in Notepad to edit. In a section labeled by "[Default]" there are a bunch of keybindings, and you can use any of the open ones to bind "[Key]=SetFOV [Insert Desired Number]". Then just hit the assigned button in-game and voila! Wider field of vision. It does need to be done again after every location transition/cut-scene, death, or if you ever actually use the iron sights (which you could be forgiven for not knowing were even in the game because there's little reason to use them), though.

And if you're using XP still, the file path would be C:/Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data instead.

Also, the "Bioshock2SP" file which should be in the same folder (could be wrong about the location of that one, though..) has a line where "Vsync=True", and switching that to "False" is the only way to actually turn Vsync off... if that's something you'd care about.

I know there's a small chance of you actually remembering all of this by the time you decide to get and/or play the game, but I like to pretend that I'm helpful all the same. >.>

I actually only played Portal about two years ago, myself. Didn't know anything about it prior to playing, but I had a free copy included with my Steam installation so I decided what the heck, I should play it. So glad that I did.

I just bought Futurama the game and it's surprisingly crap...and good...I...what? It runs on Gamebryo of all things and they have these weird platform sections, the targeting is one of the worst things I've ever seen, and even the voice acting is off at points. Not to mention is has a weird compression pixel issue....and a framerate issue. But it's fun! And the atmosphere is cool, and I love it when Fry says "Oh! A Nibbler! I'm gonna collect all of them!". Maybe because it feels almost exactly like Toy Story 2 for the ps1.

Gosh I finished an old game just the other day and wanted to talk about it but now I forgot :(

Anything that I get for the dreamcast that my cousin finally gave me after 12 years of not touching it (she never even got a memory card). A lot of dreamcast games had online connectivity (Jet Set Radio or Phantasy star online) *sigh* I wish I could go back and time and use the internet for all of the games i own even if it's just access to the games website.

I got ME3 and Bayonetta for christmas. I had substantial things (most complimentary) I wanted to say about both, lemme tell you - but both are (varying levels of) old news.

Binary Domain was a fucking awesome game that nobody ever talked about.

The story was actually pretty rad and even though the characters seem kind of one-dimensional at first and the voice acting is kind of cheesy, once you let yourself get in the right mindset the whole cast really grows on you.

I especially like how it's hilarious that it's a Japanese game, but all the protagonists are of other countries (America, Britain, France, China, etc.) and the main bad guys are Japanese, and then (spoiler alert) the American protagonist falls for the Chinese operative. Hilarious and awesome considering the state of world affairs in general.
Yeah. What I liked most about was that it was a cover based shooter that was best played ignoring the cover mechanic entirely and exploiting headshots.

The story and characters were like a really cheesy action movie. Although it went full retard with it's twist about Fae near the end, it was so over the top stupid it's hilarious.

Man, you're like...the fifth person in this thread to recommend Bastion.

I've gotta get that game. Everyone in here is talking about it and by the time I get it and play it, this thread will die and then I'll have to do a "Played-it-too-late-and-now-no-one-talks-about-it-for-the-second-time-damn-it!" thread :(

the games i play are always what people are not talking about anymore because i buy all my games late to get them cheap.
recently finished playing sleeping dogs on the pc and it was a fantastic game. better than gta 4 in nearly every aspect and still sadly didnt sell very well. also playing lone survivor. its a old school 2D side scrolling survival horror game available on steam and its pretty good. inspite of 2D 16 bit graphics the game has an unrivalled atmosphere and very creepy.

I want to talk about Link to the Past because I played it recently, but I guess I'm almost 2 decades late in the discussion. 0.o
No way. I just played link to the past for the first time a month ago. Good game, wasn't it?

OT: The last game I played was the original crash bandicoot. I've had it since I was quite young but this was the first time I'd beaten it. In fact the majority of the games I play are at least a few years old.
I felt like it was one of the best games I had played ever. Two decades old and it still holds up better than most games today. And I'm not even a retro-gamer really to be thinking and saying this... almost quite the contrary.

:p
Oh yeah, it's a great game. Personally I think it holds up way better than the N64 Zeldas.

Had a couple of complaints though. There's the standard Zelda problem of not coming back with full health whenever you die, so if you're at a tough bit, you have to go get some potions/fairies before having another go, and I especially hated how you could fall off the edge during the final battle, and have to start it all over.

Also I thought it was a real cop out when in the end credits you see everyone that died throughout the game (Link's uncle, the bloke who protected Zelda in the sanctuary, the kid with the flute etc) Had somehow come back to life. I was genuinely affected by these moments, and seeing all of them suddenly alive and well just ruined it.

Still, regardless of these complaints I had a lot of fun with this game.

I had Motorstorm: Apocalypse for a while, and I loved that game. Yes, it was hard as balls, but it was so much fun at the same time. I wanted to play with other and express how I feel about it, but no one listened and no one is playing online any more.

Funny that this came up, i just recently played Darkness 2 (got the special edtion for 10 euro) and it`s really a damn good shooter. The first comics show a very different Jackie but i managed to accept the game version. If someones up for a trophy hunt (ps3) give me a shout out over pm (european- i doubt that my connection is good enough for over sea sessions).

Great that Binary Domain get`s a mentioning here. One of the most underrated games of 2012.
