I want to start getting into playing D&D. I really loved the Neverwinter Nights series, and I played a little bit of D&D online. I read tons of lore off the wiki, and stuff, but now I really, really want to get into the game.

I heard about people doing online sessions, and I wouldn't mind doing that.
There's also a comic book store down the street from me if anyone was interested in meeting up at it who lives in Rhode Island. (No serial killers please.)

I don't have any of the books, or characters sheets. I am kinda broke at the moment, and jobs are not easy to come by where I live.

Anyone willing to help, or let me in their games? :b

I suggest /tg/ at 4chan, so long as you can face the peril and pr0n of 4chan. The /tg/ community is a hell of alot better than the standard /b/ (random) lowest common denominator, or even the scum you get on /v/ (Videogames). They often have threads specifically for finding games, which are often done online or via skype.

As for D&D books... yo ho ho.

I really don't want to go onto 4chan. Hahaha. I'll stick to more civilized areas of the internet.

4chan really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Sure most of the people on /v/ are dicks and you generally wanna stay out of /b/, but most of the other boards are pretty safe.

OT: I'd just search around, ask around at your local hobby store or even find the DnD group on this very site! [I forget the name otherwise I would link you]

awww :( You double blew me off.

:D

Anyway, best places for an online game:
- the role playing group here (although it's quite...dead. Might be resurrected, I suppose)
- the Giants in the Playground forums - at least I hear it's a good place to look for online games, never tried it though - not much of a D&D player myself.
- Myth-Weavers [http://www.myth-weavers.com/] - a dedicated play by post (PbP) website. It even has lots of tools, like character sheets, dice rollers, and dungeon generators, to name a few. The D&D community is quite large there. But just a word of warning - don't look for RL or any off-site games on there - it's frowned upon.
- RPoL [http://rpol.net/] - another dedicated website for PbP. It's, in fact, custom built for PbP games - it has character specific and game specific PMs, lots of tools to make games even easier and so on. I haven't used it much but there are quite a few games going on. It even has a section specificly for advertising off-site games (RL, on other websites, etc), so you can at least check that.

Thank you for the help. :D I will try Myth Weavers.

Something I have noticed is that Universities (Colleges???) just breed D&D groups. If there's one nearby it might be worth checking the facebook or the google to see if there are any groups.
