What do you think?

I haven't had much of a chance to play, and only touched the campaign mode, but I have logged a couple of hours of online play in, and have pretty much enjoyed it. It's really arcade-y imo. Not really very serious a game, but it is fast paced and pretty fun.

The campaign couldn't be full of more cliche' modern images, at least what I saw of it, but I guess that sells the most games. A complex character or series of events are nowhere to be seen.

Basically, trite but fun.

It's a game for fans of the series...I sorta looked at it and realized that not a whole lot is new. There are certainly some well-needed changes like the hoverboard and new maps, but other than that it sorta seemed like a rehash.

This is my first time playing it, It had to be given it's opportunity. I compare it with halo a bit, shallow but fun to play, I'm actually enjoying it, at least some.

I can't run the demo because it keeps crashing when I try to go into instant action, so for now, dunno. @_@;

The Necro-- Though I do think the whole point of UT is having a ton of maps, gameplay types, and mods that you just can't get from other FPSes, which is why I've always prefered UT2k4 to, say, FEAR Combat or so many of the other boring FPS games my guy friends insist on playing at LANs. -_-a

The Demo wouldn't run for me either. I bought it on an idea that there was something of a legacy and that it might be worth playing based on that. I do think it's fun.

i've had it for just over a week now and am still enjoying it. Sure, its not had me totally addicted (like when i first played UT) but i get that a lot these days. Yeah its kinda shallow, but i don't think the flak cannon in tight coridoors will ever get boring for me. The UT series hasn't changed much for a good reason, it was fun.
If they changed it too much by, i dunno, making you use iron-sights, or adding crazy new weapons, it just wouldn't be UT anymore. Lets face it, the whole FSP hasn't really progresed anywhere since Halflife2 or FEAR, now we're all used to seeing physics in them, maybe better textures and more polys etc. But the core mechanics in FPS are set in stone now. The only thing thats new in games now are the worlds and models that they are set in, so to change something so fundamental in a UT game (the weapons and basic modes) too much would just make it into an entirly new game, i dunno i'm still not ready to wave goodbye to what UT is.
So err, yeah... i like it

well, i do agree with you, but, UT3 felt like a high res clone of UT99 to me, might be just me, but, it feels like just went back to the beginning + vehicles. Anyway, theres still plenty of guys on UT 2k4 anyway :)

iv been a massive fan of ut for years, even playing ut2004 to a high level competitivly and i was so disapointed with the ut3 gameplay browser , lack of configurability etc etc etc- ( the game has so many points of worry it would take a book..) that myself and my friends/ clan have decided we wont be playing it.
We acctualy upgraded our pc's for this game at over a grand and a half each so we could run it at a great fps for competition and needless to say its not been money well spent.
they have dumbed down the game play for console friendly conversion and mAde many small pokey maps where you can hardly miss now.
ut3 is a barrel of piss to drown naab gamers who dont know any better!
sorry..its a subject i always get het up about :)

my demo of it wouldn't allow me to change any of the settings. even after mucho hacking of config files it would just revert to defaults on startup. Ill wait till i upgrade :)
