That's why I only play online with friends of mine, specifically so I don't have to deal with people taking the whole "online" thing as cart blanche for being jackasses. Doesn't seem to help with your friend, though...

Great self-test for these people: Take a second and think about if what you're about to say would earn you a punch in the face if you said it face-to-face. If so: Probably not a great idea saying it online either.

Yeah that doesn't work for me. You see, I say things that would get me punched in the face in person, not to random strangers though.

Tell him to stop being such a little shit; slap him across the chops if needs be.
As it is, you're allowing him to be inflexible and obnoxious, so the sooner you snap him out of it, or leave his company, or whatever, the better.
It's not worth sticking with such a prick just to get some co-op action.

Why is he your friend?

Seriously, after reading the post that's all I have.
He's actually quite a nice person outside of Borderlands, I think it brings out the worst in him. It's like Dog and God from Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money.

If he's actually a nice person, then he'll understand when you tell him it drives you crazy to play games with him. Friends don't have to get along in everything they do.

Yes well internets bring out the worst in us because that is where we do things seemingly without consequences.
Just tell him you aren't playing with him until he acts appropriately, and then stick to that.

I really dislike these types of people, and I personally would just tell him he's acting like a jerk. Flat out.

If on XBOX (Sorry if not), just ditch him as a friend and stop reading his messages.

But Borderlands seems like a fun game- hope Yahtzee reviews it next week (Speaking of which, where was he last week?).

But yeah- Jerk-through and through. Can I recommend you change the title, however? "Playing with jerks," seems to me like a "Vent at people you've met online" thread.
At the Expo.

Takes him about a week or so to make them, I'd expect a delay for a fortnight. I mean, you fly half way across the world, do you hang about and sight see or do you go straight home to the end of winter?
Oh yeah, sorry. I'll shut up now.

He sounds like a ****.
Don't be friends with cunts.

In these types of game me and my friends will loot whore all the shit and then before entering the store just browse what's good for who.

Zero is great for co op if you spec him right. Mark of Death and backstab or ambush. not to mention his decoy skill is great for pullin aggro off of teammates.

Do what I do; spawn a vehicle and push him off a cliff with it repeatedly until he either stops being a douche or leaves the game.

Or, do the easier option and just go to the main menu, reset your privacy options, and go back into the SP where you left off.

Well, it's not fool-proof, obviously. Some stuff is said and done in good fun, especially among friends, online-buddies and whatever. I just find it extremely jarring when people seem to actually forget that they're talking to/playing with actual people... y'know, the kind of people who sort of hide behind the internet. You can be anonymous AND behave like a decent person...

Tell him all these problems as a simple list as clam as possible, and tell him if he chooses to ignore your request then you'll stop playing with him. Just incase he's one of those sensitive types.

Be open and honest with him. If he cant handle that or refuses to change then stop playing with him. Its really that simple. You dont want to go through the rest of our life with friends that annoy or verbally berate you. So its best to start picking the keepers now and burning bridges with the bad ones

A good slap on the tits will work. (If he's more than a bit husky, that is. Then the face will have to do.)

Single-Player games are so much fun!! I get all the loot!!

I am not good at playing nice with friends if I don't like what they are doing. I would have never gave into the peer pressure to get a game I didn't like on a system I didn't like. Absurd!

He's treating you that way because you let him. Why's he in charge of the lineup? Why does he make the decisions? You're letting someone you know will screw you make those decisions that screw you. If he wants to take all the loot, tell him to fuck off. The game is about looting. If you can't loot, the game gets progressively harder and stupider, whilst he sells rifles for chump change that you need. So tell him to share loot or play with someone else.

If you enable people to use you and be jerks while gaming, they will, and neither of you will have fun.
