Crash bandicoot 2: 'nuff said, to be honest. This was the first game I played and the first game I loved. Where did it all go wrong crash? WHYYYY!?
Where? Right after Crash Team Racing, when Naughty Dog wasn't the developer anymore. Same thing with Spyro: Insomniac wasn't the developer anymore, and the games got worse and worse, and now we get this shit. [http://cdn1.gamepro.com/article_img/gamepro/4671-218191-2.jpg]
Anyway my PS1 classics? Well obviously Crash and Spyro to start. I must of course mention Ape Escape, another game that I want to know what the hell happened with now that Playstation Move Ape Escape is out and it's a damn rail
shooter net swinger. Ape Escape 1 is still awesome though.
Can't forget about Twisted Metal 1 and Twisted Metal 2 either. And Twisted Metal Small Brawl was okay too, but the first two were better.
And those are the only Twisted Metal games that exist for PS1. *glares at 989 Studios*
I guess I could mention Mega Man Legends, even though I never actually played them back during PS1 days. I got it and the second one later on, somewhere between PS2 and PS3, I think I might have already had a 360 at that point. I don't remember. Anyway, good games, even if they don't have that same classic "I played this way back when" feeling because of when I got them.
Grandia is a damn great JRPG on PS1. I don't care what all those FF lovers say: this is my favorite JRPG on PS1 and in fact one of my favorite JRPGs of all time. I really liked that IP bar thing they did for the battle system so it wasn't just another "you take your turn whacking the bad guys, the bad guys take their turn whacking you, repeat". If you played it right you could screw with the enemies and never let them do anything. It's like trolling the AI, except sadly they don't throw a hissy fit for you to laugh at.
And last but certainly not least, Tomba! Tomba is the shit. Tomba 2 was pretty good too, but I prefer the first one. I don't know whether to be happy or sad that Whoopee Camp went under, honestly. It could have been that there would be great new Tomba games today... Or it could have been that Tomba went the way of Spyro, Crash, and Sonic and started sucking large amounts ass.
The least Sony could do now though is release Tomba on the Playstation Store for people who want it so they don't have to spend who knows how much on eBay for a copy. Thankfully, I still have my PS1 copies right here to play at any time and no they aren't for sale and you can't borrow them. Get away from me.
