Probably doesn't warrant it's own thread, but, here it is. I'm likely going to buy a ps3 in a week, the price hike in Canada on Ps4 games(Which is also affecting some ps3 games recently released) pisses me off, so instead of going with next gen, I'll stick to my pc and just get a ps3 and some of the exclusive games that are in a very wide library and cheap. So, I've got a few questions.

1) reccomend me some good solid games that deliver either a unique experience or a good one, regardless of genre, prefferably with little if any dlc.

2) Is there a location I can go to see what games come with the PS+ membership and if so, could someone link me to it.

3) Should I get a second controller and if so, how many games support local Multi-player?

4) Is D3 for PS3 a solid game? Or should I play the(Hopefully existing) demo and decide for myself.(I own the PC version and have already upgraded to ROS, looking forward to tuesday.)

5) Are PS3's solid and if so, new or used?

Appreciate any help anyone can offer me, I realize number 1 is very broad and subjective, but honestly I like almost all genres and have found gems in each to play, so anything that has more bang for buck or hell HD remakes is cool in my books and worth checking out.

1)
Ni no kuni
The last of us
Demons/dark souls (1 and 2)
Tales of xillia
Valkyria chronicles
Diablo3
Dragons's crown

2)Dunno, but i say ps+ is worth it for the free games

3)not unless you live with someone you want to co-op with frequently

4) Diablo 3 is amazing on console, if you have someone to play co-op with. Diablo3 and dragon's crown are my go to co-op drinking games when people come over. Lay back kill some shit with friends with minimal story is awsome. But that's just me.

5) i have no clue.

I would advise checking out some of the PSN Exclusives as well, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Fat Princess are amazingly fun games (both have DLC but not owning them won't really hamper your enjoyment of the game).

I bought my PS3 2 years ago USED, it was a fat version (the original version, not slim line) and I've had no issues out of it. I even upgraded it from 80 to 500GB with no trouble. They are very stable.

There are quite a few games with local multiplayer but it depends what genres you like to be honest. If you DO get a second controller though, make SURE it's a Sony Official one, all the knock-offs SUCK for various reasons. Also get a decent 6FT or longer USB-USB Micro Cable so you can play with the controller wired up, the battery life is decent on them but I've had to plug mine in on several occassions for marathon gaming sessions.

In my opinion the PSN Classics library alone makes it worth having, as there's LOTS of great PS1 and PS2 games on there (of course this only matters if you care about classic games)

I've never subbed for Playstation Plus but if you go to the Wikipedia article for Playstation Network I believe it has a link to a list of games. All games on PS+ are available without it though.

If you do get a ps3, and decide to fork out the $50 USD for a year's worth of PS+, that will most likely pay for itself inside the first week. This time around, the free games are Tomb Raider, Brothers, Borderlands 2, Payday 2, Remember Me, Thomas Was Here (indie title), and there are quite a few others for the PSP, and still others for the Vita. Next month, it'll most likely be a bunch of different titles, and to top it off, if you should decide that you've downloaded too much, and have to delete some stuff to make room for more stuff, they keep track of what you've downloaded, and since it counts as 'purchased', you can download those things again.

Also, PS3's are notoriously stable, new or used. While you might have the occasional game crash, or system freeze, it is not, by any stretch of the imagination, an RRoD.

this doesnt have anything to do with the thread but, why play diablo 3 when theres Torchlight II and Path of Exile bro? people often consider them to be superior games to Diablo 3, and Path of Exile is free

btw im not sure if getting a PS3 at this point might be worth it, sooner rather than later the console might be dead, have you thought about waiting a bit and getting a PS4 instead?

May I recommend picking up Uncharted 2 and 3 as well as everything else people have mentioned in this thread. They seem to get a lot of hate on these forums but that doesn't change the fact that they are generally well made, fun action games. There is an Uncharted 1 but its not great.

Also, pick up Puppeteer, I will never stop championing this game until everyone has played it or I'm dead. Never.

I forgot to say, I used to be really anti PS+ until I tried it, now I think it great. If you have the spare cash its well worth the money.

1. Most people have already recommended some of the best games on the platform. I don't think I need to add much.
2. Simply go to the Playstation website? Google Playstation Plus. Here's the US site. (I don't know where you're from)http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus/
3. Only if you plan on playing a lot of co op games, which unfortunately there are as many as there should be. I know Borderlands has split screen co op.
4. No idea. I lost interest in the Diablo games when D3 fucked up on PC.
5. I owned my PS3 for about 6 years. What went bad? The HDMI port, which was the fault of a crappy HDMI cable. PS3s are very solid compared to even the newer model 360s. My PS3 was dropped downstairs, knocked over, and sometimes I forgot to clean it off. It went through hell and still worked. I may have just been the luckiest gamer in the world, or the build quality of that PS3 was amazing.

I'm going to only answer question #5, because my answers for the rest is redundant.
Bought my Slim Ps3 in 2009-2010, the only thing that went bad was the HDMI cable which doesn't have anything to do with the PS3, since mine was bent badly because my HDTV was placed on a wall with very small openings to it's back port. Anything besides that is still running Ok without any problems.

If I buy the Last of Us PS3 Bundle, what all comes with it? Everywhere I look for a descriptor varies between them. Some say they come with a voucher for 1 month of ps+, others say nothing about it. Need to know how much I'll be spending on it to plan ahead for this coming month.

Appreciate all the help you guys have given, looks like I'll be buying a number of games on the cheap, which is awesome.

While I was not the PS3's biggest fan, it did have a bunch of great exclusives. Especially in the recent years.

If I had to pick one game to recommend though, it's an easy choice. InFamous. Easily my favorite PS3 game of the entire gen. I enjoyed Ratchet & Clank's PS3 adventures, I enjoyed Uncharted and Last Of Us is a true master work. But I'd throw all of those in a bin for InFamous. The sequels are good as well, but the first is still where I had the most fun. Played it 3 or maybe 4 times.

Well, just based on the official Playstation website, you do not get the PS+ voucher in that particular bundle... Plus, any bundle that comes with said voucher would have it advertised on the box itself with the only exception being like certain GameStop "exclusive" bundles, for example...

So, already based on your initial setup, you're only paying about 350 [US] bones right now... and that's including the 1-year of PS+... If you want your PS3 to be in HD (mostly 720, despite only specific games reaching 1080), then buy yourself some HDMI cables... Otherwise, just choose which games that have already been suggested and choose which one's you're willing to pay more money for "right now" or wait until they become cheaper (or free) off PSN...

Other than that, in terms of some of your other questions, only get a second controller if you're going to be doing "a lot" of local co-op (which, for me, I mostly have a second controller for Rayman Origins/Legends, Catherine, or any fighting game like Skullgirls and BlazBlue) and, as far as I know, the model in that LoU bundle is really sturdy since that's the model my friend has currently...

Nonetheless, you can't go wrong with buying a sturdy used one, getting TLoU separately alongside the PS+ subscription, and then work from there...

1) Valkyria Chronicles (if you want a good unique experience with no dlc), Starhawk, Little Big Planet. You should also get GTAV.

2) I don't know. I recommend picking up the ps3, trying out the free demos and such, and while on psn store you'll see the separate prices for ps+ highlighted yellow. In fact, I'm sure there is a whole ps+ section.

3) If you get Starhawk or Little Big Planet get another controller. Sadly, local multiplayer does seem to be going the way of the cartridge as online multiplayer becomes more common/profitable but there are still enough titles with it to warrant a 2nd controller.

4) I'm enjoying it. I don't know if I would've bought it again if I already had it on pc but it is one of those few games with fun local multiplayer, so there is that reason.

5) I would say they're solid but there is the ylod; not as widespread as the rrod but common enough to deter me from buying used.
