... No f-ing way. The PS3's just barely gotten to it's feet and holding it's own and now they're starting to consider a PS4!? My family only just got a PS3!

I always wondered why next gen consoles manage to be released about the same time, is it because they can only reach into the future to pull back technology and ideas when all three of the companies come together or just wild coincidence?

It's really not that difficult. It's just capitalism. One company estimates or learns that another company is developing a product, and they (being competitors), seek to develop their product too. It's not some conspiracy.

That sounds a lot more realistic but a lot less fun than my idea.

I see PS3s bundled at stores with HDMI cables, controllers, USB ports, and all the necessary stuff. I think it's because Sony stopped including the necessities to lower the price so much. (And there's still no backwards compatibility on the new ones...)
