Alundra sounds interesting. Not so much the other one though.

And yeah, it was nice of them to release Grandia so the PS1 Classic store has one RPG worth owning.

Alundra is one of my favourite games of all time, it was just so immersive, absoloutly fantastic, I recommend people download it when it is released.

I think its pretty cool that Arc the Lad is coming to PSN. I can still remember saving up $80 in order to by the Arc the Lad collection in Toys'r'us so many years ago.

Course, I have the games so I'm not really gonna buy it again. Still, hopefully they will release the other 2 Arc the Lad games, especially since the games have a feature to transfer your saves from one game to the next(sort of like Mass Effect).

Good job Sony, you get another $10,000,000 from games people already have played.
Hey, not a bad business model if you can manage it.

OT, I've wanted to play Arc for ages. This should be a lot of fun.

Well I never played Alundra but I have Arc the Lad and I do like that game. Though if you're going to get it get the second one. That first one feels very "rushed out for PS launch". and the second is much longer and more filled out.

Hopefully they continue to offer the rest of the Arc series. Arc 1 is easily the shortest and easiest (and worst/least refined), but it's save game transfers into Arc 2 and 3 which are vastly superior games. They're no FFT but if you want an SRPG you can do much worse.

Never played Alundra, but a depressing Zelda sounds fantastic. Consider me $6 poorer on Tuesday.

And, as usual, Europe (and Oceania) gets shafted because someone at SCEE is too lazy to organise the paperwork.

Alundra was my first PS1 game. And it is amazing, a true classic in terms of depth of story, mature themes, and solid Zelda-esque combat, before the days of combo attacks and purchasable upgrades. It can be a bit...obtuse sometimes with its fixed perspective (as far as jumping and puzzles are concerned and how it's possible to miss some collectibles) but that's just part of the old school tradition of not dumbing things down the way a lot of games do nowadays. Highly recommended.

I should replay it to see how well it's held up over the years.

Meanwhile Arc the Lad is an enjoyable albeit super short turn-based strategy title (especially in contrast to Arc 2 which is easily 10x as long - if not longer). I'd go so far as to say Arc 1 is just an introduction to the second game, both as far as story and gameplay are concerned, so I recommend waiting for both titles to be out to get the most out of the series. That said, getting the first gives a good idea of what to expect in the sequel. (As well as providing plenty of time to do the optional dungeon to unlock the secret character in both games; I found myself in the unfortunate situation of being ~30 hours into the second and realizing that I'm missing out because I didn't exhaust the first game.)
