It's going to be 18th July, probably in the afternoon.

Whereabouts do you live? We're getting groups to meet up and travel to London together.

I might go, but then again I have an interesting story abiut the london underground. It began when I was going to the Foo Fighters concert. Having never been on the tubes before I got off mistakenly at the first stop (after we spent a good half an hour waiting in a line to ask someone which station we were meant to travel from.) anyway the person I was with signalled for me to get back on and so I got on as quick as I could. However while I may have got on my bag was still outside attached by the bag strap to the door. That was interesting, though while everyone around me had been rather helpful, my friend she was laughing so much....

How did you guys break the ice? Was it awkward at all?
Well Ultrajoe and I broke the ice when we met on the platform. From there, other people already had fragments to jump on so there wasn't an issue afterwards. I'd also met several of the people before hand. It helps to have one of the early-arrivees be very good at casual conversation.

Do they have an age requirement for travelling alone on trains and such? I'm sixteen so it should be ok.
No, I have been on trains at 15.
The only difference being that when you are under the age of 16 the public transport system is obliged to take you where you need to go to get back home free of charge if you run out of money. 16 plus means that they can just abandon you at the end of the line if you fall asleep, so be careful.

Ach I wish I could come. I would if I could, but my parents won't let me.

Shame, I'd make that day. :p

I was going to wait and see how many people are flying in from Scotland/Ireland. It might be better if we meet up near one of the airports.

Edit - weekends are off-peak anyway.

King's Cross is probably the ideal station, to be honest. It's easy to get to via underground and overground trains, and a lot of the cross-country trains go there as well.
I'll be coming down from Scotland (Perth, but if there's an organised group transit I can meet people in Edinburgh or Glasgow) but haven't decided by what means yet. Megabus looks like a possibility. In any event, I reckon Kings Cross is the best meet-up location, since you can reach it by underground straight from Heathrow Airport via the Picadilly line and I imagine fairly quickly from bus stations as well.

Someone should be standing around with a sign with a big e on it as well, for the sake of simplicity make it at platform nine and three quarters so everyone will remember where to head.
I'm happy to meet in Edinburgh or Glasgow, either/or. TBH flyings probably cheapest if we Ryanair, or Easyjet or something
Yeah, a bus would take much too long, flying would be the best option, and if it's to Heathrow, tubes run to Kings Cross where most of us will be.

How long do you reckon it would take for all that travelling?
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but there are no flights from Glasgow and Edinbugh to Heathrow, we can go to Luton, Stansted and Gatwick, the only flights to Heathrow are BA or BMI, which are way more expensive.
If you go to the horribly misnamed London Luton you can get a train straight into Kings Cross, they run all the time and take about 30mins. Gatwick Express goes into liverpool street (I think) which is only very short tube ride from Kings Cross. As for stansted I think thats like victoria or waterloo station, slightly further from kings cross but still accessible by tube.

If anyone wants to take over and organise this, they can. But I thought whilst people are talking about it and keen to get involved, we'd better get started with it.

So, we've pretty much decided on London, as most people can get there. For those of you flying in, which airport would you get into? And anyone coming in by train, which station does the train stop at?

Possibly meeting at King's Cross Station, is that okay with everyone?

Secondly, what do people want to do? Bowling? Erm... can't think of any ideas, so open to all suggestions.

Escapism Sydney did lazertag, bowling and an arcade. Anyone want us to do the same?

We've got several under 18's coming, so it won't be a pub or anything

Next, dates. I'm suggesting 18th July, then all the exams are definitely out of the way. Also gives us plenty of time to organise. Any problems with that, and we can change it.

Please send me a message if you intend to come, if you find out you can't make it fine but we need to look at numbers. (And I'm getting slightly OCD about this, PLEASE send a message if you're coming.)

And finally, any other comments you want to make? (Helpful ones only please)

List of people coming (send me a message on my profile and I'll add your user name):

This is relevant to my interests, I'm in the South West so it's not too much of a treck. I'll PM you if I decide to go.

Kings Cross... yeah, I know where that is. I'll be there. what time?

EDIT: Can't do 18th =( Any chance of shifting the date? *pleads*

Laser-tag, bowling and arcade-going are all god for me =D

One more thing: like Ago Iterum, I'll be happy to travel with people, but from Norwich (or thereabouts) rather than Midlands =P

You'll have to ask OP about friends, because the Escapism outings are usually mainly exclusive to Escapist people.

I'm one of those; my train gets in at about 12.10. How are we going to recognise each other? I'd suggest an Escapist sign, but that might be a little conspicuous. I'll be easily recognisable because of the hat I'll be wearing, but what about everyone else?
