Hey guys posted about a month or so back on my building of a new PC anyway the design I have has formulated pretty solidly into as follows taken from a post I made on another forum.

"Okay that is great now this is the build that is forming now:

Cooler Master Haf Rc-932 Case
Coolermaster Silent Pro 850W Modular PSU
RADEON HD69 series (not sure whether to flash a 50 or get a 70 depending on difficulty :p?)
Asus P8P67 EVO Rev3, Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard (I take it this has the room for another 69 series card?)
Intel CPU Core i5 2500K Unlocked Sandy Bridge Quad Core Processor
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit
x2 Samsung 1Tb Spinpoint F3 Hard Drive - HDD (probably in RAID once I learn how to do that :p!)
Then for wireless internet connection: TP-Link TL-WN851N Wireless N PCI Adapter ( I think that should work :p)
LG GH22NS50.AUAA 22x SATA DVDRW Drive - Bare Black (any better DVD drives around - also will I need any additional cables etc)
My overclocking solution looks like it will probably be this: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Cooler the extent of my overclocking will be at least immediately to overclock my i5 2500k to 4Ghz or above - possibly even to 4.5 which seems to be quite possible.

I think this should wrap up the machine itself although I might have been a dozy twonk and forgotten to post something :p.

And this comes out to £962.85p although I still need to pick a monitor (in the 22 - 24 inch range please recommend!) and mouse/keyboard and then I'm quite tempted by high quality 5.1 or 7.1 gaming headphones :p... suppose I need some speakers too :p. But are these better than say a similarly priced (£60ish?) 2.1 stereo headphones?

But I'm looking for an overall spend of about £1300 and that seems quite doable probably able to push it to £1500 if there are any big benefits to be had.

Thanks! :p

Edit: BTW what equipment sets should I look at getting for the assembly of my PC? Are the £15 - £30 kits of poor quality for the enthusiast who is probably only going to be using the screwdriver?

Also since I'm opting for the retail version will the thermal paste be suitable or should I apply another branded paste?"

Anyway anything you guys can add would be great particularly on screens - 22 inches actually now seems pretty desirable (as I whipped out a tape measure and realised its really fecking big!) and I imagine I could get a better quality 22 inch for around £200 than 24 inch.

Thanks in advance.

Get some article silver 5 thermal paste (not epoxy) for your CPU, and motherboard/gpu.

To assemble a pc, all you need is a standard sized Philips head screwdriver (a 3 I think) and a nice set of small screwdrivers. No kit required. Coolermaster towers should come with zip ties and such if you wish to use them (good idea).

Your missing your operating system on that list.

As for monitors, acer makes some nice, cheap ones.

Yeah sorry that was just my machine build I'm planning to get windows 7 home premium for £100 :).

I can stretch to 200 and not to be a snob but I'd rather get a more "quality" brand :p.

Could you suggest the small screwdrivers + what are the zip ties for? Cable management?

Zip ties are for cable management. Most Coolermasters come with normal zip ties, and a few come with special, reusable zip ties that actually stick to the inside of your case. These are particularly useful.

As for screw drivers...

This is what I have. Really nice, but easy to lose.

And, in some cases (Few), you may need a Torx kit to take a heat sink off (Video Card). This is what I have for that.

Generally speaking, just walk into a hardware store and look for itty bitty screw drivers. They'll be with the normal ones.

Acer's are made by Samsung. Not their best work, but still really nice. But, if you want name brand... (200 pounds is 326 American, right?)

Samsung 23 inch. 279 dollars (170 pounds). Honestly, just go and look for a Samsung in your price range. Doesn't have to be this one.

Also, a fix to my last post, Artic Silver 5.

Thank you for the really helpful reply now I'm thinking of spending a little bit extra and getting a HAF X case as it has better cooling and more importantly dust filters however I'm unsure if it is compatible with my mobo - although I suspect it would be - could you lemme know :p? Cheers

Case is:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-HAF-extended--SATA/dp/B003OESTP2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303253061&sr=8-1

And the motherboard is this:

It's a full tower. It'll fit just about everything, and is guaranteed to support ATX.

Also, I have to plug the best case ever made. It's a bit expensive, but its the kind of case you use for the rest of your life. Behold, the Cosmos!

Dell's are Samsung screens with swapped stickers.

Might as well get the one with a respectable brand name.

Uh just going to float this out there as I am unaware. Does Newegg ship internationally or have a warehouse local over seas? Because if it does youd probably save a boatload there buying your merch. If not the I guess your stuck with amazon prices. Might be worth lookin into though.

Self built, will cost half as much.

Drive bays are really cheap, and the low power drives (WD Green series for example) work exceptionally well in them.

I would say anything by Western Digital or even Seagate that is in your price range, I have used numerous of both and never had any issues whatsoever.

Lets see...
HDD
HDD Enclosure
Enclosures will greatly vary in price based on connections and brands, the above an an example.
HDDs vary in price, the above is a 2TB drive, and the first WD Green I saw on the page, again, an example.

Hopefully other will be able to help further, as I really need to get to bed. x.x

Edit: I should probably mention, being Australian, there is no way I can help with pricing, nor do I know how to navigate that new egg thing properly.

He's saying it's cheaper to buy an external HDD enclosure and HDD and put them together yourself rather than buying a complete unit.
