It looks pretty fake, but I don't know as much as I would like to about firearms.

You've been shown how to release the magazine, so I'd check that for any ammunition inside.

I would expect you'd be able to tell if it was real based on the weight and feel of it. I don't see why anyone would make a fake pistol that's actually metal. It might be a BB gun, though.

Of course, you could always just ask. I mean, chances are it's just a gun for the sake of having a gun. A lot of people have weapons for that reason. Just... you know, so they can know they're armed.

LEAVE the gun ALONE! Go ask your brother. If he's a good person he will tell you if it is real or not. Don't go messing with a firearm that may be loaded unless you are in immediate personal danger! EVER.

Another thing to check: On the underside of the magazine, is there a small (~2mm) valve near the centre? If so it's a gas pistol.

Sorry, whose is it? You don't actually say in your post. You just say "he and "him".

Also it looks fake, but that lever in line with the trigger, but behind it (2nd pic) looks like the switch to release the ammunition clip so if it has bullets inside it's real.

Without pointing the barrel at anyone/thing or touching the trigger, try pressing it down I think that releases the clip.
I think that's the safety. My friend has an exact replica of this gun though, the clip release is the little button beneath the thing you circled.
EDIT: I think it's an exact replica airsoft pistol. Check the bottom for a little hole. If there is one, it's an airsoft gun.
EDIT 2: It says "KWC" on the side, meaning it's an airsoft pistol.

No that's NOT the magazine release. PLEASE don't give advice on handling dangerous stuff if you don't know what the buttons do on it.

No.

Yeah me to. Here:

dy/dx= pistol x 6c[sup]2[/sup]

Go!
Assuming that 'pistol' and 'c' are both independent of 'x', then:

  • y = 3c[sup]2[/sup](pistol)x[sup]2[/sup] + C
However, if we integrate between the limits of y = y when x = x and y = 0 when x = 0, we see that:
  • y = 3c[sup]2[/sup](pistol)x[sup]2[/sup]

If we then take c = 1 / 3[sup]1/2[/sup]:
  • y = (pistol)x[sup]2[/sup]
The final operation is in remembering that x = -[(airsoft gun)/(pistol)][sup]1/2[/sup]. We thus see in the final analysis:
  • y = (airsoft gun)

Ok, I'm not too sure about it, but your best bet is to just leave it alone. Ask your parents, better yet. Don't confront him though.

If you can find a brand name on it, then google it to see what kind of company they are, (air-soft gun, real gun, etc.).

If you have already handled it then the weight is a good determiner, loaded or not.

You and me both.

I thought I'd get to contribute to the thread.

I know nothing about guns.

Looks like a BB gun I used to have before I got my BB MP5. I don't think it's a real gun.

Wow! I contributed to a thread about guns! :D

Unload the magazine, see if it's full of bullets or BBs/airsoft pellets, or - if unloaded - has holes the size of either.

To me it looks like fairly cheap plastic, but it's always better to just ask him.

Stay out of your brother's business, and don't trifle with things that can be potentially extremely deadly.

But if you must know, the little button on the left side where the trigger guard meets the grip? Push it in, and the magazine should slide out. That's how you do it.

Also, big lever above the grip is the slide catch. Quite pointless on an airsoft gun, added only for aesthetic value. It is not the magazine release, and people with no firearm training or knowledge whatsoever should not be giving instructions to equally clueless people. Next you'll be telling him to look down the barrel to check if there's a bullet in the back of it.

+1 for the 'came here for the maths' crew. Can't help with guns. Can't help that much with calculus either, but would've given it a shot. I mean try. Christ, all these guns are making me nervous...

Put it in your mouth & pull the trigger.

If it's fake, you might get a slight sting from the BB

If it's real, then you don't have to worry about your brother killing you.

(P.S. in all honesty, it's fake)
