I played the last Fire Emblem to come out before this one and this feels like a pretty shocking swerve to me.Doom972 said:Wow. The only FE game I ever played was the first one released in the west for the GBA, and this doesn't look anything like the FE I remember. Was there a gradual change or is this something new to this generation?
The PS1-era graphics don't make the characters very enticing. They just look like love-dolls made of paper. They could've had a better result by making 2D animations, or even 2D still images. It makes me wonder what's the point of it, or whether it's supposed to be a ironic.
Knowing my anime tropes, I'm guessing that the sister is adopted. They always are. Unless we're in niche hentai territory.

Haha I love how when people see relatively bad graphics they compare it to PS1 era.Doom972 said:The PS1-era graphics don't make the characters very enticing.
Ironically that edit actually makes it look like she's mooning him.Aerosteam said:Snip
Ayyyyyyyy what's wrong with Tharja? I liked her as a pairing, the whole weird, creepy, clingy, slightly yandere wife was a nice change from standard romance stuff. Weird is good, weird is never boring.erttheking said:http://nintendonews.com/2015/06/fire-emblem-fates-dialogue-stripping-touching/
Yeah see, apparently you can grope people once you can reach an S-rank with them. Which sounds a wee bit like it clashes with the tone of Fire Emblem, considering that Fire Emblem is usually pretty light hearted and idealistic when it comes to romances (most of the time...fucking Tharja). Throwing in stuff likes this feels like following up a sweet and tender confession of love with a lap dance, I just don't feel like it fits.
Of course there's the question of whether or not this will make it overseas. While this isn't exactly something I'll refuse to buy the game over if it does, I'm not exactly holding my breath for it.

Going? It's been there for YEARS. And the funny thing is the series is STILL more compelling than 90% of the other dross out there that tries too damn hard.Panthera said:going off into wacky anime territory, it's nice to be validated lol
I'm guessing that this is one of the earlier titles. I don't recall this game. I was thinking about graphics like in Tekken 3, which resemble the graphics in the screenshots the OP provided.Tilly said:Haha I love how when people see relatively bad graphics they compare it to PS1 era.Doom972 said:The PS1-era graphics don't make the characters very enticing.
This is PS1 (yes, this single picture represents the entire console):

Ditto. Even in that beach/ summer DLC, they changed the dialogues bewtween Tharja and Nowi (Nowi mention to Tharja that she is the most "bouncy" out of the girls and changed it to her having the most silky hair).Aerosteam said:This won't make it overseas, at least in America. Look at a piece of artwork from the last game:![]()
If they hid Tharja's ass behind a curtain, like hell they'll allow groping or whatever to make it to America.
And after years of saying that Awakening wasn't so bad and that the whole pairing was more a nice nod to Fire emblem 4 rather then Otaku pandering...I just have to be a champ and admit that I was wrong.Panthera said:After a few years of people telling me I was a moron to suggest that Awakening was a sign that Fire Emblem was going off into wacky anime territory, it's nice to be validated lol
Awakening waaaaaayyyyy stepped up the goofy anime cliches and shipping. By a mile. By two miles. Three miles? Do I hear four, anyone got four, FOUR MILES! Whether you like it or dislike it is beside the point.Aiddon said:Going? It's been there for YEARS.
