Pretty much anything anyone has already said (well except for that one dude who said Jason x (srsly, WTF??)) plus also Pitch Black and Back to the Future series, don't think either of those have been said.

Oh and avoid The Chronicles of Riddick for gods sake!
So I guess you didn't read what I wrote about Jason X to explain why it's there? At least I explained why I suggested something questionable, unlike people who recommend novels based on video games, movies or other people D&D adventures.
Yes I did read what you put, I just thought it was still utterly terrible all round. And seeing as the OP was asking for sci-fi, the one thing I wouldn't reccomend is Jason X. It fails as a sci-fi movie no matter which way you look at it.

Stargate is a great TV show.

I would also recommend the Warhammer 40k books. They're not Asimov, but are fun, violent action stories.

how has anyone not mentioned Issac Asimov? one of the old school science fiction writers. ((EDIT) i see Slizaro, caligulove and thedoctor455 Mentioned his foundation series and otehr works)

his Foundation series is awesome, along with his robot series, which feature the laws of robots, Irobot, Bicentinal man. As well as various other awesome short stories he wrote.

Tv:
Doctor Who, (only really seen new stuff, but have a grasp of its original roots)
Stargate (unviverse atlantis or original)
Farscape
Sliders
Star trek, (next Generation, voyager, Enterprise, Deep space nine)
V (both original and the modern Remade version)
Life on mars (UK and US versions)
Ashes to Ashes
Battlestar Galactica (original before new)
Eureka!
Red Dwarf (omg i forgot it)
Starwards the clone wars (animated and CGI, if you like your starwars and dont mind kiddy theme)
Torchwood

Movies:
Gattaca (BIG BIG BIG movie of tommrow type)
Fifth Element.
Robocop
logans run
madmax
starwars
star treks
starship troopers
Moon
2001 Space oddessy
Alien Quadrology.
Predator (original)
Irobot
Bicentennial Man
War of the Worlds (original before modern)
Day of the triffids (original before modern remake)
Serenity
District 9
Running man
Time Machine (original before modern remake)
Hitchhikers guide to Galaxy
Bladerunner (ive seen all versions)
Space Truckers (horrifically B movie but awesome)
Pitch Black
universal soldier (yes its horrible but still awesome)
Back to the Future series
Spaceballs (yes more a comedy with a scifi theme)
Resident Evil Series
Matrix Series
Donnie Darko
Mars Attack! ( you have to watch this 'B' movie, its awful but features soo many famous hollywood actors)

I always suggest and reccomend watching original versions of Sci-fi first, so you can expirience the story as intended originally, before advancing into your speccy graphics and awesome effects.

Moon
2001 Space Odyssey
I reccommend watching 2001 Space odyssey first, Moon kinda pays homage to some parts of 2001, and features similar scenes.

Thats all i can think of, off the top of my head of movies/TV that i enjoyed watching.
I grew up watching alot of Sci-fi, even the old black and white stuff. i cant get enough sci-fi, even if its horribly B movie, i regulary find myself sitting in front of the TV at 3am watching those old classics that they show late at night to fill spots
