I don't usually comment, but I felt this has to be said:

For the last week I have been replaying the Mass Effect series so I can go into the final installment with a character I can be proud of. However it seems that I won't have to due the rampant amount of spoilers in comments on something even remotely related to Bioware. I understand many people are pissed off, but it is still only two weeks after the game has launched, so please mark spoilers as such and don't post the last ten minutes of the game just to show how angry you are. I am pretty sure most people who haven't played the game don't want to know that Sheppard did X or Y or that Garrus became God Emperor of Citadel space. Also many members of the community have forgotten Wheaton's law. Every forum post I see devolves into people calling each other biodrones or uncultured swine.

So please, if you either flame or go off on tangents filled with spoilers, Stop.
If you don't thank you.

I'm not being mean or trolling, but as a Brit, who didn't get the game til three days after alot of folks in america had already finished and were "spoiling" the game, I just avoided the forums and any thread begining Mass Effect, Bioware, ending, and spoiler.

Basically what Putowtin said; you have to exile yourself from the forum because there is always going to be someone either too stupid or they just don't care to realize that not everyone is done with the game.

For the past week, I have exclusively been in the "Off-Topic Forum" just to make sure that I don't stumble upon someone ruining my game. I was aware that people didn't like it but that was all I knew.

Yes, I know you hate that the ending revealed that it was all a dream of Conrad Verner...SHIT! I just revealed the ending!!! My bad...

If you're so worried about spoilers, why would you go to a forum dedicated to games? Especially when it's one of the biggest releases of the year PLUS on of the most controversial. That's like going to Olive Garden and complaining about all the Italian Food. Don't want spoilers? Don't go to gaming forums. Easy as that.

Mass Effect isn't the only game that exists and no topic before now has been spoiled for me due to reading the games forum.

Then don't go to Mass Effect threads.

But its in everything slightly related to Bioware at all and people aren't using the spoiler tab.

Then I guess cry some more. You can't retroactively fix being spoiled by complaining about it. Just ignore it and play the game.

Leave the forum until you're done with the game. That's basically what I did. I stopped reading ME3 threads once news of the leaks got out. I stopped coming to the forum (except for the two Let's Plays I follow here) once the demo arrived (and I didn't play the demo). I didn't come back until I was done with the game.

You have no one to blame but yourself if things get spoiled for you. And this is especially true for BioWare games.

Really guys? "You have no one to blame but yourself if things get spoiled for you"? I agree entirely with the OP. All they're saying is that people should add a spoiler alert; it's common courtesy when a game is brand new. Yeah, you can avoid the forums, but it doesn't make it any less of a jerk move to post spoilers without any kind of warning.

Do you really expect that, though? Yes, they shouldn't spoil things in thread titles and otherwise without warning, but that's just not reality. You have to realize that.

The sucky thing about being a gaming-centered forum is that EVERY time an anticipated game comes out, it's the only thing you'll bloody hear about. For a minimum of three goddamned weeks. Portal, Skyrim, Dragon Age, Dues Ex, Battlefield, yadda yadda, EVERYONE and fucking EVERYONE has to give their opinions on it and make their own thread.

I generally just avoid the forums entirely, but I only come here when the Off-Topic threads are stale. And then I remember why Off-Topic is so much more varied.

Frankly, I don't think it's a hard concept. Just avoid the ME3 threads or anything closely related (Bioware, RPGs, whatever). Either that or don't go on the forums.

The reality of the situation is that someone somewhere will likely spoil something for you. Whether it's deliberate or unintentional is irrelevant, it'll happen. If you aren't willing to go on a period of communications blackout to avoid spoilers then the best you can do to mitigate it is limit your exposure to gaming sites. It's sad but true.

I started playing ME3 after the gaming forum blew up with all the ending threads, I avoided them by spending most of my time on the off-topic discussion forum. Problem solved.

Listen, it would behoove you to not come to the forums for a while if you dont want anything to be spoiled.

But as fair warning, there really isnt that much to be spoiled, anything you do in the previous games is worthless unless you have already invested yourself in the series, you can practically jump in on the 3rd game without any repercussions affecting your end game scenario.

Sure, if you do play form the start, you will be able to enjoy the 3rd game a lot more, but sadly it will also compound how much the ending makes you feel like you just threw 80+ hours into the garbage bin.

If I can give you any advice, is to put off buying any of the games or DLC until the debacle has been addressed in its entirety by Bioware. And no that does not mean "buy our games they are good".

How hard is it not to wander into topics with 'Mass Effect' 'EA' or 'BIOWARE' in the titles? Sure, some of them are kind of obscure but you can just back out. You still got a good 2 weeks to a month of these, especially as more people wrap up their playthoughs.

My God people the OP is correct we need to stop. A much more vile abomination is being forced upon our sacred franchises... Michael Bay is turning the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into aliens!

Seriously though, the ending wasn't that bad.

Being fair, if you go to a topic that's explicitly about ME3's ending you can't complain. True they should probably put up spoilers but if you go to a topic labelled "Zomg! ME3's ending was soooo dumb!" you can't be too surprised if there's something there.
