I want everyone to stop making threads about mass effect 3, time to make a thread about mass effect 3 to stop them. Complaining only makes it stronger my friend, you should have simply made a thread about a different game and been super optimistic instead. That would leave everybody stunned

If you're so worried about spoilers, why would you go to a forum dedicated to games? Especially when it's one of the biggest releases of the year PLUS on of the most controversial. That's like going to Olive Garden and complaining about all the Italian Food. Don't want spoilers? Don't go to gaming forums. Easy as that.
Now you've got me wanting Cesar salad. Damn you. :p

To be fair, right now everywhere is throwing a snitfit about the last 15 minutes. It's impossible to go into a thread about Bioware or an article (which accounts for about 20% of this site's news content) without coming across someone going ballistic over the endings in excruciating medical detail.

To be fair, I've had very little respect for the game's ending being a spoiler because it freakin' spoils the game itself by taking a dump on the entire franchise, but, it's not like it's easy to avoid spoilers right now.

What has been ticking me off is spoilers for games that are not mass effect. I have come across several game ending spoilers and other details of Deus Ex: HR in a few of the ME3 forums. It isn't enough for some of the posters to say the two games are similar, they also feel the need to describe the various endings of Deus Ex in intricate detail even though it's on a forum that should be non-relevant. I'm actually in the middle of the playing the game so thank you very much forum posters for your cross-forum spoilers.

Should I now avoid Grand Theft auto forums in fear of major Saints Row details? Should carefully peruse FF 13-2 forums in hopes of avoiding Tales of Graces f spoilers?

I think all ME3 threads should be combine/deleted in mass.

We get it:
You didn't get the magical ending where Shepard has an orgy with all the males and/or females after becoming KING OF THE COSMOS.

BOO-FREAKING-HOO.

Did God of War 3 have a happy ending? NO!
Was it a worse game for that? NO!!!

Did Skyrim have a happy ending? Eh, I guess.
Was it a worse game for it? Eh, not really, but the main story as a whole was boring so w/e.

Did Final Fantasy 7/10 have a sad endings? Yes - if you don't count the questionable sequels.
Were they worse games for it? NO! Actually, the verse of the games got worse BECAUSE of the 'happy endings'.

Ect-Ect-Ect.

SOMETIMES...a 'sad' ending is a GOOD thing.

Yeah, this is going to work. Or maybe you could just try hitting the report button on posts that spoil and let the mods tell people to use the tags. They're more likely to listen to mods than they are to find and listen to your whiny thread here.

Alternatively, STAY OFF FORUMS. Yes, it sucks that people are inconsiderate and don't mark their spoilers, but the only two realistic ways you have to combat it are to report anyone who spoils anything, or not put yourself in a position to read spoilers in the first place. HINT: Second option works better.

Yes it is easy to avoid. It's called not going into such threads in the first place. If there's an article about BioWare, you don't click the comments link. This is VERY SIMPLE. It is not hard. If you can't stop yourself from clicking a link to a page you know will be full of spoilers, you have bigger problems than having a game spoiled for you.

I'd like an end to ME threads. I miss all the thoughtful threads I used to find, but it's a bunch of ME stuff at the moment. I get you're all super excited and angry and stuff, but we could all tone it down, it's be great.

Except a vast majority of people including myself don't care if our Shepard "has an orgy and become king of the cosmos" it's the fact that the ending has thematic tonal shift that doesn't fit with the other two games, hell it doesn't even fit with 3. It hardly explained anything, felt rushed and distorted, and also for some players ignores and contradicts the choices they made over three games. My Shepard could die at the end of ME 3 for all I care because I know that my Shep would give it their all, it's the fact that everything you did only boiled down to a different colored ending with a super AI god that seemed to ignore the fact that the Geth and the Quarians were working together to knock their giant space door down. As while all this is going on Shepard says one sentence and a maybe.

People miss the point that games like God of War had no player interaction while Skyrim was going for moral ambiguity. Hell, the Witcher 2 had a true bittersweet ending. Mass Effect 3's ending wasn't 'tragic' or 'bittersweet' it was down right lazy.

Like I said, whether my Shepard lives or dies or hell even if my crew lives or dies is irrelevant. If the ending doesn't fit, or take into account actions the player made over the course of three games, or ignores major plot developments, then it's a lazy ending. I refer to it as the history eraser button because all it really does, assuming Bioware doesn't go with the indoctrination theory (which according the original leaked script was a HUGE part of the game) is remove Shepard's story for a 'reboot' when Mass Effect 4/MMO/Electric Boogaloo comes out in a few years.

OT: It's to be expected, especially on a gaming forum.

Well, that's the price you pay for being a member of the Escapist.

That and the firstborn sacrifice thing.

Edit: I'd just like to add; Holy shit, you've been a member for over 3 years and have only posted five comments?

I'm not saying that's a bad thing by any means, but damn. You must really like watching the bickering of us common folk.

I'm not going to start an argument about this here, but your post is annoying to me. If you'd like to discuss it, PM me.

Yeah, that works up to the point where people are commenting on the facebook response page, so spoilers are at least potentially there as well, and that's (on some screen setups) going to be visible on the article itself.

There's also threads out there that are titled things like, "So sick of this crap" or "You know what really pisses me off", or "how do you like American Foreign Policy re: Israel" that get sidetracked into, spoilers on ME3.

As to articles relating to Bioware, I wasn't joking, my methodology was a quick and sloppy content review, but about 20% of The Escapist's content right now is related to Bioware. A lot of the editorial staff are major Bioware fans, and there is a major event going on with Bioware at the moment. Together those things spell a situation where it's getting about twice the coverage here as the other sites I spot checked.

Fact is, it's everywhere at the moment, and short of leaving the gaming media entirely for the next couple weeks, I doubt that it's possible to avoid ME3 spoilers somewhere

Honestly, this is just the flavor of the month. Wait another 12 days and it'll be gone.

Still, "thoughtful threads"? Half the time I stagger in here the top thread is someone bitching out the friends zone. Or asking what the last enemy you killed was, and how well you'd face with them in a zombie apocalypse. :p

I'd start to go on about how you're making a straw man argument, and how most people don't care that it was an unhappy ending, just that it was a stupid ending. But, honestly, I think you should know, it's not "in mass", it's "en mass".

Thank you.

Just leave the forums for a bit. Self-imposed media blackout.

That's what I did.

In retrospect, I think I would have been happier if I'd known what was coming. I would have had time to bolster my fragile soul against the onslaught of crushing disappointment.

Also, the Illusive man is Shepard's father and the Normandy was his sled.

Yeah, but at least those are fun to read and reply to. These ME threads are all "I hate the mass effect ending". It's just really annoying to see everyone complain so much about it. They chose to end it like that, shut up; and lot of them just don't have much discussion value, in my opinion. I'd really prefer to getting back to the zombie apocalypse, and the terrible things the utterly ignorant politics want to pin on video games in a pathetic effort to demonize something, and make them seem like some sort of holy crusader, it'd be great.

Great, now I've made the horrible realization that you can replace "silver bells" with "krogan balls" in the song...
