As excited for the game as I am, I can't help but notice a possible plot hole that Ubisoft better resolve.

From what I understood, Leonardo da Vinci will be in the game as the "mentor" if you will, of Ezio, the assassin. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't da Vinci purportedly a member of the Templars, or at least one of the descendant sects? So wouldn't that kind of mean that Ezio will be helping the bad guys?

It's a different time period. Just because the Templars were the villains in AC1, doesn't mean they will be in AC2.

It's hinted at that they are in AC2 because the teaser trailer where Ezio assassinates the guy running in the mask is wearing a Templar cross on him.

Or Da Vinci is helping the good guys?
Everybody thinks that they are the good guy.
I'm not sure if Da Vinci was a member of the Templars, though it is possible

Wasn't there something to do the Da Vinci and the Templars in the Da Vinci code?

I really wouldn't go off what you get from there. Considering must of that book/movie takes very big liberties when it comes to that information.

That's why I said purportedly a Templar

True, I did think that book was a big pile o' crap.

But we shall have to wait for Mr Vinci's (or Mr Da Vinci's) place in this game.

He was illuminati. Not Templar.

They will, otherwise that causes an even larger plot hole. The villains in the modern day parts who conspired to kidnap Desmond Miles are the descendant faction of the Templars, so the Templars must have been the villains all along, unless they suddenly turned good then bad again just for the sake of remaining true to something that's not even true anyway.

There is no evidence at all to suggest Da Vinci was a member of the Kinghts Templar, especially considering that on Black Friday the Pope ordered them all killed, and the Templars were destroyed. There's no evidence either to suggest that the order itself survived in any way after Black Friday. OP, you've been reading too much Dan Brown and too many conspiracy theories...

I agree with this. If they even touch upon Da Vinci as a templar. It will be that he isn't really a member of the templar, and some sort of counter spy. But I doubt they will, Dan Brown has poisoned your minds.

Well, Ezio was not part of the Assassins Guild, as far as i know. DaVinci probably just thinks he is a loner and tries to help him in his revenge.

You do remember that your mentor in Assassin's Creed 1 turned out to be a templar, yea?
