Just hope it's better paced and has more content in the story than the first, then it will be great.

maybe we should just wait and see before we point stuff out
Yeah. It could have something to do with the plot and direction of the game. OOOO I'm so excited! :D

It's a different time period. Just because the Templars were the villains in AC1, doesn't mean they will be in AC2.
You may be on to to something there. I mean, the templars in AC1 didn't kidnap and basically enslave someone and force him to relive an ancestor's life with the purpose of uncovering a world controlling power.

Oh, wait...

It sounds like it could be a classic plot of the apprentice being forced to turn on the master.

The hero becomes friends with the master and becomes his apprentice, at some point ether the master or hero joins the rival faction and are forced to confront each other. Because of their long friendship they chose to not to kill each other and instead just part ways.

My guess is that Da Vinci isn't in the Templars but helps them in someway resulting in the Assassins asking Ezio to kill him

If he is a member of the Templars, maybe Ezio doesn't know about the rivalry as everything may have become more underground as time went on a few hundred yaers. Leaving more secrets and meaning da Vinci and Ezio may or may not know baout eachothers alliances. Hmmmm, possible?

maybe da vinci in later life has become disenfranchised by the templars and desides to get retribution.

I hope that isn't the case because that sounds exactly like Assassin's creed 1.

What I want to know is how they went from a cool, bad ass name like Altair...to a gay name like Ezio.

If he was a Templar, he was a low-level Templar who hated his parents. He left them early on in life, he had two mums, he WASN'T royalty (for he was born in some shabby house in the countryside)
