ok so i searched for a similar topic and i could not find one so here we go.

what would you say is the most pointless thing to happen in a game wether it be plot related,a character or maybe even a weapon.

i would have to say geting the crowbar that late in the game in half life 2 episode 1 was pointless
i have rpg's,shotguns and i could just use the gravity gun to destroy barricades.

When you had to protect the archaeologist in Fable. I don't see why you couldn't just be evil and let that guy get captured and put in prison.

Well, I doubt anyone knows of this game, but it's a browser based game that's called Plazma Burst: Forward to the Past. There's a taser in it, and it's pointless because you have shotguns and rifles with unlimited ammo.

Nothing beats headcrabs faster than a crowbar, especially against poisoned ones.

Half the fucking dialogue in all MGS games... and I'm a fan of the series.
but it helps to-

its important because-

nah he has a point there

*is a huge MGS Fangirl*

also in RE games when a character says something along the lines of "i have a bad feeling about this"
usually something bad has already happened, its pointless XD

Any game where you have to do fetch quests or do a very long detour because a door just locked or a barricade just fell. They could have just been locked or barricaded from the very start rather than see the door get locked or barricaded because you were not fast enough.

OK OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR MY CHANCE TO VENT! The time in fucking Too Human, an already shit for brains game anyway, when if you die; o and you will die, LOTS AND LOTS, where you gotta whatch the 2-3 minute clip of a valkyrie coming to get you. Its like the games mocking you for sucking so hard at it. I think that if i dont have a hammer able to kill the shit you pit me against, why are you pitting me against it?

Off the top of my head . . .

The part in Gears of War 2 where you're inside the giant worm (basically a pseudo-platforming segment)

In Chrono Trigger, Lavos's first form where he just imitates bosses from earlier in the game

The final boss (if you can call it that) in Fable 2 (everyone warned me that it was a let down, and I was still surprised)

The final boss energy-whatsit in Dead or Alive 4 (not because it was easy, but because it was so hard that pointless button mashing was just as effective as using strategy)

The fight against Guilty Spark in Halo 3

As a wise man once said, "Look, I'm about to say a ton of s**t and explain, like, a million things that don't make any sense so you might as well just skip this part, or something."

Adding to that, 99% of all dialogue in Final Fantasy games, and 100% of everything said by the protagonist of Final Fantasy games.

NWN2 when that wizard chick dies in the intro.

Any RPG ever that makes you do a blatant FedEx quest. Frig.

Fighting Seth in Street Fighter IV is pointless for much the same reason keptsimple found the final boss of DoA 4 pointless.

The quick-time events in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed were very pointless.

Lost Planet in itself was pointless.

I'll add to this if I think of anything else.

Battling Spark at the end of Halo 3. Seriously it's the end of an epic triology, give it some challenge. Even on Legendary Spark was a joke.

Hey I love the games! Just sometimes repetitive dialogue gets tiring when I wanna kill me some monsters!

A few others . . .

The final confrontation with King Koopa in Super Mario 3 - World 8 is a *****, yet King Koopa gives you a good 25 minutes to dodge his jumps before he kills himself

Kefka in Final Fantasy 6 - easy final bosses are a recurring problem in Final Fantasy games, but this was a particularly egregious example

The final scene in the last episode of Battlestar Galactica - oh wait, wrong medium

I lol'd. I can't believe it's true. I always hate FF protagonists who have no clue, and has no background or relevance or knowledge about the plot.
