Brad had felt that people where following him and Lightning as they had followed the men that stole the Locator and the Storage system password. He did not know if the people that where behind him where friend or foe, but he guessed he would find out soon.
Lightning, sill on Brad's head, looked back at the 5 people following them, crawling down to Brad's shoulder, he started to talk to Brad, speaking his name at 1000 miles an hour. Brad had no idea what he was trying to tell him, his mind was focused on the thousands and thousands of Pokemon that where in danger at the time. But the fact he was not zapping them with elctrowebs must have ment they where not dressed like the guys they where following.
There was a fork in the road ahead of them, they could split up at this point and Brad would not be able to get both the Locator and the Codes at the same time, he had to take a chance.
"Lightning! Electroweb between those paths! Don't let them escape!" Brad yelled, his Friend jumping in the air, shooting web between the trees on the paths on the road, the web charged with volts and volts of electricity stopped the villains in there tracks.
"So, the hero from before decided to follow us." The leader of the group turned around, seeing Brad, and in turn, the others following them. there where 6 kids and 6 of them, he thought, this would be even, but in no way fair, they where experienced, even though there leaders only gave them lower level Pokemon, seeing as how the lab had low security and did not need very powerful Pokemon. It did not matter in his mind, they had years of experienced over these children.
"You all take whoever you want, the kid in the white hoodie is mine." The man in the long coat said, his Koffing had a devilish smile on his face, looking at Lightning. He stepped forward as his men charged at the other 5, there one Pokemon out already to attack the young trainers.
"I am not without my honor, child, You win this, and I will give back the codes, there just a added bonus to the Locator anyway." he said, waving the PDA in the air.
"Fine, Lightning will beat your Koffing anyway." Brad said, putting his gloves on from his pockets, returning Lightning to his Net Ball.
"Oh? Not using the Joltik? Or do you think you can handle Koffing's poison Smog?" He chuckled.
"Lighting! GO!" Brad yelled, throwing the ball in the air, the beam landing in a tree. Lightning materialized from the beam, jumping from tree to tree. Using the environment to his advantage, he gained the metaphorical high ground versus this man and his poison ball of a Pokemon.
"Clever newbie." He smiled.
ok guys, control your own battles from here, remember, theres 3 Houndours and 2 Glooms, fight what you will.
Jack continued to follow the boy who was chasing the thugs. If anyone knew anything, he did, and the characters he was following didn't appear to be saints themselves, so they were all his best bet at grasping the situation without getting crushed by crowds. Jack continued to run until they came to a stop.
"So, the hero from before decided to follow us." One of them said seemingly showing that these were in fact the ones behind it, judging by the tone of his voice. Apparently, they were going to have a Pokémon battle to settle what was going on. The boy that chased them here had already selected who he was going after so Jack chose his one.
"Think you can handle me kid? Your Pokémon looks more pampered than ready to fight, and I got one hell of a fight to give him!" The guy said and revealed his Pokémon; a Gloom. The poor plant seemed dazed and almost as if it didn't know what was going on, but that was apparently normal for Glooms. Liara stood in a readied stance, unable to wait to pounce on this, her second challenger, only this one was going to be much harder than her last. Jack knew it and only prayed that Liara did as well.
Raven followed the other two trainers until they came to a crashing halt and smirked at his soon to be opponent. "Rook use Aerial Ace," he shouted out, separating one of the trainers and his pokemon away from the rest of the pack. His opponent, clearly overconfident in his abilities decided to voice his chances, "You have no idea what you are getting into do you kid?"
Raven paused more a moment to scratch Zorua's head to calm him down before answering. "If I knew I would wake up today to deal with a reject from a Saturday morning cartoon I would have taken my time to get here. I mean seriously was there a buy one get one free deal at the costume shop or something?" The member of Team Omega snarled before screaming, "I'm going to break you you overconfident brat. Houndour use flamethrower!" Raven could only grin as he hit a nerve to make his opponent angry. "That a bit of the pot calling the kettle black isn't it? Did you just watch a cheesy B movie and take dialogue tips from it? Rook dodge it and use Aerial Ace.
The battle had begun and he could only hope the others could deal with their opponents or they losing might just be there least concern. Beaten by a cliche? Not gonna happen because I won't lose!
Jamie skidded to a halt as she noticed the villains stopped because they were cut off from their escape route. Already trainers on either side of her were taking on a Gloom, Houndour and a Koffing as the other 3 grunts stepped back from their comrades and leader.
Looking at the trainers, a grunt smirked as he saw the only girl in the group with a fairly weak looking Abra on her shoulder. He stepped forward with his own Houndour and glared at the young trainer.
"come on little girl, come and face me and my Houndour unless you are to scared" the grunt scoffed at Jamie with a smirk.
Jamie giggled at the grunts obvious over confident personality before she looked down at spark.
"lets see if we can't improve this mans attitude shall we buddy?"
Spark looked up at his trainer as he growled softly at the grunt and the Houndour. Gazing at their opponent with a look of determination in their eyes.
Dennis blinked a few time as he took in the scene before him. Team Omega? Locator? Password? What did any of that mean? Did they steal something from Professor Maple? They sure looked like they enjoyed causing trouble, that was for sure. Having only heard rumors and whispers of Team Omega in the past, Dennis had never seen the organization in person, let alone causing an act of thievery. Now that he saw the band of uniformed ruffians standing adjacent to the group he had tagged along with, there was no more doubt in his mind.
Team Omega were thugs!
A few of the likewise Pokemon trainers around Dennis had gladly stepped forward to accept the challenge so brought by Team Omega's members. They seemed eager to battle, eager to prove what they could do. As he sheepishly gazed back and forth around him, Dennis wasn't so sure this was the place he needed to be at the moment. Beginning to regret ever following the group to potential danger and confronting Team Omega, Dennis began to turn around to seek somewhere safer when a voice called out behind him.
"Hey kid, where do you think you're goin'? You heard the man. You gonna run away from a fight like the scrawny coward you are? My Houndour can easily outrun you, and track you down. Unless you fancy pressing your luck, I suggest you stop right where you are and fight me. Quit being a scrub and let's get this on!"
Dennis turned his gaze to identify the voice: a Team Omega member bearing a strikingly thick goatee. At his side stood a proud and menacing Houndour, growling ever so deeply as it poised itself for battle.
Houndour: "Grrr......dour...."
Blinking a few times, Dennis saw that there was no escaping now that he had associated himself with the trainers around him. He was no true Pokemon trainer. The others probably had much more experience than he did. Gorb was merely his friend, not a tool. The Team Omega grunt didn't seem to care, however. He just wanted to put Dennis in his place, his Houndour vocally supporting this claim. Turning back around as he stood adjacent to the uniformed individual, Dennis sighed.
How did he get dragged into this again? Oh, right. It was because he was worried about Professor Maple. Still, he hadn't expected to be forced into a battle after being so ambushed by one not moments ago, back in Crossroads Forest. Fate had a way of making things quite clear, it would seem.
The Team Omega member seemed impatient and irritable at all the standing around. Nothing was happening, and he envied his comrades around him getting the opportunity to battle. He wanted that, to put the Pokemon-less trainer before him in the ground. He didn't care what kind of opposition he would be facing, something needed to happen, and now. Barking another series of intimidating words at Dennis, the Team Omega grunt was clearly losing his patience.
"Get a move on, will you?!? What, have you never battled before? Geez, you really are in over your head. Are you going to fight my Houndour all by yourself? You have a death wish or something? Hurry up!!"
That was the last straw. Reaching quickly for Gorb's Heavy Ball, Dennis stopped just before tossing it in front of him. Gorb had just been through a rather quick but violent battle. It would be unfair to put him in that position once again. No, Dennis believed that this would be the perfect opportunity to put his newest team member into action. Grasping the Pokeball in his opposite pocket, Dennis flashed the ball dramatically in front of him as he pressed the small button, increasing the ball to its appropriate size.
Throwing caution to the wind and forgetting about his reasons for coming with the group of trainers, Dennis knew one thing and one thing only at this point: this certain "Team Omega" member was going to have a serious problem on his hands. Wanting a challenge was one thing, but openly egging Dennis on was another. The young man from Sandstone City wasn't going to take that kind of lecture. This man wasn't his father.
"Shut it. If it's a battle you want, it's a battle you'll get. Maverick, get out here!!"
Tossing the Pokeball in his open hand to the dirt before him, the infamous sound of the ball opening broke the air. Other trainers were doing battle, so it wasn't too noticeable. The white light sprang forth, materializing into the Pichu that had ambushed Dennis and Gorb not too long ago. The now-empty Pokeball bounced back off the ground and flew back to Dennis. As he caught it, he turned his eyes back before him, where Maverick now stood.
Blinking a few times to the new light, Dennis' Pichu stared at the ground before looking straight ahead, a fierce Houndour growling at the appearance of such a small opponent. A bit startled, Maverick turned his head to see the human who he had snuck up on just to his backside. For some reason, Maverick felt the need to protect and fight for this human. It was a strange feeling, but based upon what Maverick was now seeing, he had bigger, more four-legged problems.
The Team Omega grunt guffawed as he saw Dennis' Pokemon. This was going to be easier than he thought. Dennis saw this, and called him out on his rather unexpected attitude.
"What's so funny?!?"
"Bahahaha, a Pichu? That's your ace in the hole? Please, you'll wish you'd never messed with Team Omega today, kid. Houndour, go!!"
Houndour: "Growr!!"
Leaping forward, the grunt's Houndour and Dennis' Pichu now stood mere feet from each other. The Houndour's fierce gaze never left Maverick's small frame. He didn't see an opponent, he saw prey: a tasty, defenseless, weak, plaything. Panting slightly, the air bent from the heat given off by the Houndour's mouth, exemplifying the heat that burned in his body. Maverick, on the other hand, merely smirked at the Houndour before him, small sparking shooting from his tiny cheeks.
If Dennis was going to be his new master, then he had best show him what he could do. Having failed to do so back in Crossroads Forest, Maverick poised his small body into an aggressive pose. His ears perked into the air and his small tail shooting tiny sparks as well, Maverick bravely stared at his Houndour opponent. While he may be small, Maverick knew he had this Houndour outmatched when it came to speed. His human must have realized this as well, for he could see Dennis' approval out of the corner of one of his large eyes. Contorting his eyes into a fierce look once more, Maverick fearlessly glared at the Houndour, waiting on him to make the first move.
A careful and swift counterattack would commence as soon as he inevitably did so.
Dennis smiled as he saw his new member was just as eager to fight as the Houndour. Having been a bit unsure as to how Maverick might have taken his new position on Dennis' team, the trainer was happy to see he had a real fighter now. Gorb could hold his own, but Dennis knew that Maverick was going to be the backbone of his team.
He could feel it; see it in his stance. Maverick didn't seem to care that the Houndour was twice his size. That was exactly the kind of attitude that Dennis needed on his side. The electricity that pulsed through Maverick's small body didn't hurt, either.
Dennis knew that this battle was going to be interesting, and he looked on with growing anticipation.
The enemy Koffing and Lightning where having a fierce battle, Brad's blood was pumping, watching his friend battle this floating rock full of poison gas. The Omega leader watched, arms folded as the Koffing assigned to him sludge bombed the trees around him, looking for the electric bug that had dared challenge him.
"Lightning! Electro Web!" Brad yelled, Lightning jumping out of from on top of a tree behind his foe, shooting web around his much quicker foe, causing jolts of electricity to run though his half hollow body. The ball of gas fell to the ground in shock, the web paralyzing his orb of a body.
"You useless creature! Get up!" The leader yelled, his Koffing barley able to maintain his floating levitation, his speed lowered, and his ability to move even more then that. Brad clinched his fist, the leather of his gloves making a cringing sound as the leather of his fingers rubbed the leather of the palm. He was shocked anyone could treat Pokemon like this, he had heard there where evil people out there, but this was just down right evil.
"You son of a *****! How could you treat your Pokemon like this?!" he yelled, his anger clear though his voice. The leader just scoffed, as if mocking his foe.
"This isn't MY Pokemon, this is just some thing that we stole and turned to our side, i couldn't give a damn if it died or not." He told Brad. This was the last straw for Brad, as the stolen Koffing and Lightning started to fight again, Brad charged at the much older man, Swinging his fist at the man who dodged with ease.
"Koffing, Sludge attack on that bug, I'll take care of this pest." The man said, turning to the left to dodge a right hook from Brad. The man had a huge upper hand against the almost 18 year old newbie trainer. Brad's anger was controlling his motions right now, Nothing would stop him. With yet another missed punch, Brad turned to see Lightning bitting the Koffing with his tiny teeth, the smog ball hacking in pain.
"Useless creat..." Before the leader could finish, Brad snatched the pokeball for the Koffing from the man's belt, the man growling in anger.
"You may have it's Pokeball, but i still command it, Koffing! Sludge Bomb!" He commanded the tired beast, he had to be on his last leg, barley able to spit out two balls of scum at Lightning, the bug dodging with no effort whatsoever. Brad had had enough of this man's cruelty, it was time to end this.
"Lightning... Electroball." Brad said, calm toned and anger ending. Lightning cried out his own name as his hair's stood on end, the electric energy gathering over his head into a orb, then shooting into Koffing's face, causing the final blow to this beast, sending him crashing onto the ground.
"Return Koffing." Brad said, holding his pokeball out, the ball returning into his ball, the leader smerking at Brad. He dident expect to lose, let alone to a kid. He turned around, seeing his teammates still battling.
"Return when your done with your battles, where done here." He said, Brad on the other hand, was not ready to end this.
"BLAZE! SMOKESCREEN!" Brad yelled, throwing Blaze's pokeball onto the ground, the small flame mouse covering the area around the Omega leader. Brad took this chance to charge as the man attempted to clear the air around him. He charged once again at the man, Seeing his pockets from behind, though the smoke Blaze cleared with his flames as he stood on Brad's shoulder. With a quick reach, and a swift rip, he tore the PDA with the codes from the trench coat, the man gasping in shock as the rest of the flames dissipated.
More surprised then angry, the man looked at Brad, his grey eyes focused on Brad's green eyes, he knew this young man was going to cause troubles, but this was a victory for him, Lee still had the Locator with his Pinsir, this was a bigger win then with the Codes for the Storage System, those where just a bonus.
"Your little group wins this time, young one."
"Its Brad, Brad Shepard." Brad interrupted him, Koffing's pokeball clinched in his hand, both his Pokemon on his shoulders.
"We will meet again Shepard, count on it." He said, walking away, Brad not trying to stop him, Lighting and Blaze where still tired from battling the Scolipede from before, let alone the massive smokescreen and The battle with Koffing.
Shepard then turned around, looking at the other battles, wondering how they would end.
Liara glared at the dopey gloom, ready to pounce at any second on any command. The two trainers were waiting for one another to make the first move. Neither one of them wanted to, but one would crack, and the impatient thug was just that person.
"Gloom, Sweet Scent now!" He yelled, and his Pokémon, after a second to react, pumped out a pink, sparkly cloud. Liara took notice to it, and apparently liked how it smelt, quite a bit. She seemed quite a bit more distant to Jack, as if it's aroma was taking her mind else where. Not what he wanted.
"Liara, stay focused and scratch that Gloom!" Jack yelled and Liara snapped back to where she was. She started to run a bit before pouncing and scratching Gloom right in the face. The gloom staggered, crying out at it's new wound, and it was a big one. When it got it's balance, it was dazed and staggered about, unable to focus on the Meowth.
Despite his Pokémon's clear wound and now handicap, the trainer seemed relatively calm. Jack could see it was the only Pokémon on his belt, so why was he so pleased?
"Gloom, use absorb!" He ordered. Gloom shook itself right and fired a red stream towards Liara.
"Liara, get out of the way!" Jack warned, but Liara was caught in the sweet scent once again, and only when Jack yelled did she wake up. It was too late and she was hit by it. Her energy was being drained and given to Gloom, now healing itself from the previous attack. Liara tried to struggle free from the beam, but Gloom refused to let go, and pushed harder, trying to get more of Liara's energy for itself. When it did let go Liara, fell down. The process of having your very life slowly absorbed out of your body was exhausting.
The Gloom's trainer looked smug, "Works every time," He mocked, "Though, admittedly, I've only tried this on wildlife, the Pokémon out in the wild, so seeing your pampered pet and the clearly moronic owner fall for such a basic trap. Why would I let you attack Gloom so easily? Simple, because this is easy. Gloom can always absorb back it's health. I thought of this myself and has worked on every dang critter that I've tried it on. You're finished."
"Liara, Scratch now!" Jack barked.
Liara jumped up and scratched Gloom again right across the face, causing Gloom to fall over and, finally, faint. The mood then swapped and the awe was on the Thug's face and Jack had the smugness.
"Really, I've seen enough on TV about Pokemon to know that while absorb does suck energy out, but it doesn't do a lot." Jack stated. "Most of the energy it takes is spread into the air and lost rather than back to Gloom, so not only does Gloom not get a lot because of how weak it is anyway, but it also loses a lot of the energy it's trying to get. Sure it makes a Pokémon a bit tired, but that wears off fairly fast." Jack rubbed his upper lip, "You're bragging gave Liara plenty of time."
The Thug took one look at his Gloom and returned it to it's Pokéball. "You just got lucky. Gloom here's been fighting a lot is all. A bit tired. We'll meet again, brat!"
Raven's mind rapidly cycled through his options as Rook dodged another burst of flames from his opponents Houndour. When I go in close he just counters with a flamethrower. The width of the flames isn't very wide though so perhaps Rook could get around them? "What happened to all that confidence you had a second ago boy. Do you finally realize you aren't ready for the big leagues?"
Raven glanced at the Team Omega member before smirking as the plan clicked in his head, "Nope just making you feel better by seeming nervous." Rook flew higher as the Houndour continued to follow it with flames nearly setting a few of the trees on fire. "Now Rook use Aerial Ace." Cawing in response, Rook disappeared in the light of the clearing, diving at high speed before shooting at the Houndour an inch above the ground. The houndour, momentarily losing it's target in the light was caugh unaware and launched into air by the strong attack.
Sensing his oppurtunity, Raven directed Rook to bank back around for another run, "Rook use Faint Attack to send the Houndour into the tree." Vanishing from it's climb, Rook reappeared next to the falling dog and collided with it, sending it into the tree and knocking it out. "Pathetic Pokemon failed me. Next time we meet kid I'm going to crush you into the ground." Turning on his heel, the Omega member stalked away from the clearing they were in. Feeling the comfortable wait on his head, he reached up and scratched Rook's head affectionately. "Good job buddy. Now let's see how the others are doing."
Jamie stroked the top of Sparks head as the little Shinx's fur stood on end, while it growled at the Houndour in front of them.
The grunt smirked before he yawned and nodded towards Jamie "let's take this little pipsqueak out. Now Houndour use flamethrower"
Houndour: Dourrr
Houndour ran towards Spark at full speed and shot a massive flamethrower at Spark, hitting the small blue and yellow Pokemon at full force. Spark flew back as it yelped softly in pain while it braced its self after being knocked back several feet. Jamie looked back in her partner in worry as she called out.
"Spark are you okay buddy?" Spark growled in confirmation and ran up to Jamie's side once more. Jamie smiled down at her Pokemon before glaring straight ahead at the grunt.
"alright Sparky boy, gather up your static and use tackle!"
Spark roared its approval as its fur charged with electricity. It ran full tilt at the Omega grunt and his Pokemon.
"Houndour jump over that little pipsqueak and use a tackle of your own" the grunt called out as the Houndour jumped over Spark and used its own momentum to tackle the small lion. Once more Spark flew back and hit the tree with a loud bang as Jamie ran over and picked up her injured Pokemon.
"Spark are you okay buddy, please open your eyes" Spark groaned softly as it open its eyes before jumping out of Jamie's arms. Roaring it's challenge aggressively, sparks shot from its tail and ears as it glared at the Pokemon that caused it so much pain.
"Spark gather your resources and wait" Jamie commanded.Spark nodded as it sat and gathered its electricity in it's small body as the grunt laughed.
"If you want to play games girl, I will play. Houndour use tackle once more" Houndour ran full speed at Spark and Jamie as smoke escaped its nose and mouth from the excitement it was feeling, Jamie yelled out to her partner.
"Now Spark, jump on the Houndour's back and shock it" Spark roared as it leaped on the charging Pokemon.
Spark; Shinn!
Electricity raced through its body and centered into the Houndours back as the black Pokemon cried out in pain and collapsed on the ground. Spark jumped off quickly and growled softly while they faced the Omega grunt.
"You stupid, unless Pokemon, Get up!" the grunt yelled at his fallen Houndour as Jamie glared at the man.
"How in the world can you treat your Pokemon like that? you should be ashamed!"
The grunt glared before returning his Pokemon to its ball. Turning quickly and stalking back but not so fast that it looked like a retreat. The grunt joined his beaten comrades by their leader.
As the enemy leader turned to walk away, Brad looked around, the other battles drawling to an end. The grunts running away like scared Magikarp from a Sharpedo. Brad chuckled as both Blaze and Lightning jumped on his shoulders, proud of defending there Trainer and winning there first Trainer battle.
As the last man ran away, Brad looked at the young trainers, who all looked as if they too, had just started there quest. One he saw out of the corner of his eye, a young man with a Axew, was gone as well, leaving the 4 other trainers there to fight there battle, Brad guessed he beat his foe and left, must not have felt obligated to stay or something. He guessed it didn't matter, the battle was over.
"I guess we should go return the PDA to Maple... and Tell him they got away with the Locator. It pissed him off that he was not able to get his hands on the device AND the PDA, but Brad made a judgement call, a Locator that he did not know what it could do, or the passwords to the Storage System, the lives of millions of Pokemon at risk. He felt he made the right choice.
"Um..." Brad said, rubbing the back of his head, walking to the trainers as they gathered around, seeing the humans gathered, one young man with a Meowth, a black coat going with everything, juster positioned to his white shorts, a young woman with neck lenghed hair, and a green tank top with a Shinx almost cuddling to her leg, a young boy with, the only way Brad could describe it was, Anime hair, and a black hoodie with a red undershirt with a Murkrow perched on his shoulder, and a young man, roughly Brad's age, with a orange hoodie and a Pichu, a rather rough looking Pokemon, standing next to him, with a lot of attitude, for one so small.
"I want to first thank you for the help, I would have been dead if not for you guys jumping into the fight." He muttered, embarrassed needed help to begin with, his nature and pride kinda clashing with his normal persona. He waited for questions for a moment, then the man in orange spoke up.
"Why where they, and why did we hear a bomb go off?" He said, Crossing his arms, his Pichu doing the same.
"Well, they stole something called a Locator, and a PDA with the codes for the Pokemon Storage System..." A notable worry came over the small group, interrupting Brad's words. He started to wave his arms up and down to try to calm down these new people, quickly pulling out the PDA.
"Whao Whao Whao! Calm down guys! I got the PDA right here!" He said, A massive sigh from the whole group. Brad put the thing back in his pocked as Pokemon shifted, getting comfy on his shoulders. "I'm sure Prof. Maple will tell us what the Locator was when we get back to the lab, follow me, Ive known him for years, and with the "New People" he just meet, I think he will be wary of new people. But if i lead us in, he will trust you, ive known him sense I was a little kid, lets go guys." the young man took charge of the group, leading them though the forest path of Route 2, back into Quartz Town, and right though the massive hole in the side of Maple's building. Everyone was tired, so they keep there words and there thoughts to themselves, Or that's at least what Brad thought.
"Brad! Did you..."
Brad threw the PDA to Maple, the young Prof. catching it with both hands, seeing all the passwords where still there, not deleted and still encoded. He jumped in the air, his aids cleaning the rubble and the trash that was once his lab.
"It was not just me, it was all these guys that helped too Allen." Brad said, calling Maple by his first name, the long haired, new aged Prof still smiling like a kid that got a C-Gear for his birthday. His aid, a young lady, pretty thing with long, hair down to the small of her back, taking the PDA from him and locking it up in a triple enforced safe. Not wanting to take another chance with Omega Reinforcements.
"Brad, everyone, I cant thank you enough." He smiled. "I must reward you!" He said, running over to his laptop, pressing buttons at a million miles a second. The young aid walked over to Brad, putting her soft hand on his shoulder.
"You have to excuse him Brad, all the excitement from today has given him way too much energy." she smiled, her thin purple glasses gently resting on the bridge of her tiny nose. Brad could tell the guys of the group where staring at the lady, He made the choice to introduce them, if for nothing else, to end the awkward staring.
"Everyone, this is Lisa, She has worked with my parents for a few months now, she was also my Babysitter for a while before she became Allen's Aid." he smiled, Lisa ruffling up Brad's hair. "I remember helping him and his family move, imagine my shock when he caught this cute little guy the moment he gets out of my sight." She joked, petting Lighting, who Brad could swear was almost blushing as she touched him. Brad chuckled as She bid the group farewell as the prof. finished his typing.
A large panel opened up from the floor, dead center in the middle. A screw like container made its way to the top, thick, more then likely 4 inch's thick, making it bulletproof, and Pokemon proof, for the most part. Whatever was in there, it was important. As the glass let loose its pressurized air, It opened up, revealing 6 poke balls.
"Um... Prof. Maple? Whats these?" The trainer in Orange asked.
'why have we not said our names yet...' Brad thought as Allen started to talk.
"These are my gifts to you, my friends. As you know, in this region, we don't have "Starter" Pokemon, but I do conduct studies on Pokemon, I had just gotten these guys in, here, there all the same Pokemon, take one." He said, handing each of them one of the Pokeballs.
Brad held the ball in his hand, he could feel energy coming from it, but it was not energy he had felt before, not the tingle of electricity like when he holds Lightning's ball, or the warm glow when he holds Blaze's ball. It was better to see what was in it now, rather then later, he thought.
He threw the ball at the ground, the ball opening and shooting out the white energy onto the tile in front of Brad, as it materialized, Brad could not help but let loose a squeal of glee. He saw a brown dog/fox like being in front of him, yawning and stretching out, he must have been in that ball a long time. It was an Eevee! Brad, and his new friends had acquired Eevees! Brad and his pokemon bent down to see the little guy.
"Hello, I'm Brad, this is Blaze, and Lighting..." he said, the young man reaching his hand out to the Eevee, to Brad's shock, the Eevee started to lick it with his tiny tongue. He had taken to Brad fast as he jumped into his arms. Brad could feel he was friendley, but bold.
"Welcome to the team, Zidane." Brad said, the eevee barking, liking his new name. Brad then looked over to his shoulders, both of his pokemon looked very tired. Putting down Zidane for a moment, Brad grabed the nest ball and the poke ball on his belt, pointing them at his pokemon, and returning them to there portibal homes. "Rest up guys, you earned it." he smiled, picking up the eevee again.
"I'm glad that You joined my team Zidane." he said, the young fox dog smiling up at his new friend.
"Prof. What was the locator?" Brad asked, just realizing he needed to ask.
"Oh... that..." He said, from joy to depression, in the blink of an eye.
"That locator took 20 years to build, and in the turn of a second, its gone." he said, walking back to his computer. pressing some keys and bringing up a holo image.
"See, the locator... well..."
"Just spit it out Allen, whatever it is, it cant be that bad." Brad said.
"Ok... well, it uses a advanced satellite system, with a massive memory, to... to locate Legendary Pokemon."
"WHAT?!" Brad yelled, Zidane's ears wiggling as the soundwaves reached his tiny pointy ears.
"HOW?!"
"Did you see the slot in the side? That's how, it holds the DNA of Mew, the first Legendary Pokemon. The myth behind mew, well, now the confirmed legend, is that it was the origin of all Pokemon, that includes Legendary Pokemon. The slot on the side holds a vile of Mew's blood, and fur samples from him as well, using the DNA, it can locate whatever has the highest percentage of this DNA, legendary Pokemon." Maple Explained.
"Cant we just self detonate it?" Brad asked.
"Im afraid not, i dident think it would fall into enemy hands..."
"I have to stop them." Brad said, ready to walk out the door that moment.
"Brad, let the adults handle this, You should worry about becoming Champion, your Father said that's what you wanted." Maple said, sounding like an adult, for once.
"Adults are the ones that put us in this mess to begin with, the Championship can wait, If this group does... whatever they plan, it could be bad news, i saw what they do to poke..." Brad stopped for a moment, pulling out the Koffing's ball.
"Koffing, go." Brad said, summoning the koffing, who came out, wary of what was about to happen. Brad put the ball on the ground, then walking over, putting Zidane onto a table, also grabbing a length of pipe, and with one quick move, smashing the ball into a million pieces.
The group looked shocked, as well as the Pokemon.
"You where abused by that son of a ***** Koffing, your free to do what you want now, go on little guy." Brad smiled, the koffing having an overjoyed look on his face as he floated off into the forest.
'Ken was right, his son is a good kid.' Maple though as he watched what Brad did.
"Now, if they almost killed that koffing for "not being useful" imagined how "useful" a Legendary Pokemon, like Zapdos or Ho-Oh can be! I have to stop him..." Brad said, stopping for a moment as he was about to walk out, Zidane jumping back into his arms.
"I... I cant do it alone..." he said, looking at the group. "I know i don't know you guys, but... But i need your help, the world needs our help, cheesy as that sounds, we can do this, if we work together, Im trying to sound humble here, but I need your help, please..."
Maverick's battle with the enemy Houndour had been over so quickly that Dennis had missed the majority of the battle, for the most part. Within 30 seconds, Maverick had the opponent Houndour running back to the Team Omega Grunt, whimpering like a scary puppy rather than a ferocious flame-dog, which was ironic in more ways than one. Dennis rubbed his eyes for a few moments to make sure he was seeing correctly, before feeling a presence directly at his feet. There was Maverick, contorting his neck in such a way to make a small *crack*, exemplifying the speed at which the Houndour had been dealt with.
Clearly, there was more fighting spirit in the little Pichu then Dennis had previously guessed.
After approaching the young man who had been a bit more vocal than the others, speaking up to voice his concerns, and following him into Professor Maple's laboratory, Maverick in tow, Dennis found himself before a very gracious and pleased Professor Maple, spouting lines of forgiveness and rewards. Dennis hadn't the clearest idea of just what the dignified scholar was talking about, but if he had done his part to help, as the young man [small]who-had-now-revealed-his-name-to-be-Brad[/small] had said, then that pleased him all the same.
Taking his "reward" in his grasp and glancing over to see Brad's revelation of the Eevee from within, Dennis merely glanced downward to Maverick at his shoe, who was also looking upward at the Poke'ball. He was curious, and so was Dennis. That was all the convincing Dennis needed, and he merely dropped the Poke'ball then and there, the soft *ploink* sound reverberating as the ball his the ground near Maverick and burst open, a white light filling a small area.
Dennis' eyes never left the light source, and as soon as it faded, he saw an Eevee of his own standing before him, blinking quickly and shaking it's small head. Kneeling down and resting his hand on one raised knee, Dennis made eye contact with the small brown creature as Maverick looked on as well, quickly looking back and forth between the Eevee and Dennis to question whether this was a friend or foe.
After witnessing Dennis stroke the Eevee behind one of her ears, a pink/purple ribbon tied lightly around the ear to signify her gender, Maverick relaxed a little bit. This Eevee was going to be a part of their growing team, it would seem. Breaking his demeanor and bounding forward, the Pichu grinned warmly and spoke in his squeaky voice to the new arrival. The Eevee softly opened and closed her eyes as the she looked to Maverick, listening intently to the unique language.
Maverick: "Pi-pichu pi. Pi pichu, chu-pi pichu. Chu."
After a few moments, the as-of-yet unnamed Eevee responded in a gentle tone of voice, her "words" carrying a determined and noble tone. Her mind was strong.
Eevee: "Eve. Ee-vee, vee."
Dennis had no idea what the two of them were saying to one another, but because of their friendly nature right off the bat, he didn't mind all that much. They would be working together, along with the slumbering Gorb and Dennis welcomed the new addition and gift to his team with open arms. Listening to her and Maverick speak to one another, Dennis pondered a name for the Eevee, clearly female.
Speaking aloud to her, as well as Maverick, Dennis made his intentions known.
"I hadn't expected to meet our next member so quickly, but you are certainly a welcome surprise. From now on, I shall call you Vona, would that be alright? I'm sure you'll grow to like it. Maverick already seems to have taken interest in you, it would seem."
The Eevee glanced upward, and bowed her head slowly, accepting her new name without question. Maverick made a small fist pump in recognition of Vona, his tough exterior still showing through a little bit. Rising back to his feet, Dennis took Brad's lead and decided to let Maverick and Vona rest for the moment. There would be plenty of time for getting to know each other later. Grasping their respective Poke'balls, Dennis had them projected back into the spheres, a small bearing on both their faces as they materialized into energy.
Dennis shared a mutual emotion at that time, returning the Poke'balls to his waist, joining Gorb's. His little team was growing, and it made him happy. Turning his attention back to Brad, who looked quite distraught with his Eevee in his arms. After he had let the Koffing go, a new resolve seemed to fill his eyes. Him talking of legendary Pokemon being used as biological weapons rattled Dennis to the core. For some reason, he felt compelled to follow this young man wherever he went, to better assist him in this dire and impossible task placed upon his shoulders by Professor Maple.
Nobody should have to bear that burden alone.
Stepping forward, Dennis now stood directly next to Brad, ready for whatever and wherever this new journey and mission should take him. He would have to contact his friend in Hoenn at some other point. An earthquake was terrible, yes, but the destruction or possible takeover of the entire Shoto region was much worse. No, this was something Dennis felt he could be a part of, to truly help.
Coughing and clearing his throat beforehand, he spoke.
"Hey, don't worry about it. You aren't going to do this alone. The name is Dennis. Dennis Menov. I may not have much experience training or battling with Pokemon, but I know my way around caring for them. I have a Grimer with me that I have taken care of since I was 12 years old. Happy and healthy as can be, that one. I want to help, to be with you, our obvious leader. If this...Team Omega is going to attempt such a dangerous and foolhardy approach, then count me in to stopping them."
Placing his hands in his hoodie pockets, Dennis confidently finished his words with a curt nod, waiting for their next step and for the others to follow his lead. Glancing at Brad every so often, as well as the partly giddy/partly troubled Professor Maple, Dennis was prepared to do whatever it took.
He was now part of something great, he could feel it in his gut.
Raven's mind went into overdrive as it processed the implications of what such a tracker could do if placed in the wrong hands. To control myth itself, pokemon so unfathomably strong that they could bring about the destruction of the world in the hands of a team of roving cliches. For something out a Saturday morning cartoon they seem to at least know how to do the whole evil thing properly. Shifting his glance over to his reward, he smiled brightly at the Eevee directly in front of him. It seemed very calm despite being around so many people and a calm pokemon would be unfazed in battle.
Crouching down, he reached out and scratched the Eevee's ears affectionately before grabbing the only occupied Pokeball on his belt and opening it revealing his Treecko. "Alright little guy this is Requiem," he said indicating the aforementioned pokemon who nodded silently. "The bird on my head is Rook and the fox in my jacket pocket it Oscuro. Would you like to join our team?"
Yipping, the newly befriended Eevee leaped into his arms and nuzzled his cheek briefly before Raven returned it to it's pokeball. "I'll call you Noir." Standing back up, he returned Requiem to his ball before walking over to the other two trainers. Zorua having popped out to see what was happening ducked back into Raven's pocket in fear. Reaching down, Raven scratched Zorua's ears to calm him down before speaking, "Names Raven Wallis and I'm in. These people are only out to further their own goals and don't care how many people and pokemon they have to end to achieve them. We can't let that happen.
I'm going to be on vacation till June 21st so my posting will be sporadic but I will have internet where I'm staying so I will still be able to get something up.
Jack heard about the tracker and could only ponder, in complete shock, what people could do with such a device. This was something that could be used for catching something for beyond merely having a friendly battle, but something where it can be used to harm people and the world by unleashing the catastrophic powers that the legendary Pokémon were rumoured to have the ability of performing in their own Mythology passed down countlessly from simpler times. Jack felt that he had to do something to help. Anything. He couldn't just know about this and expect other people to do it for him. He felt he needed to do something to help.
Jack accepted his reward of an Eevee from the professor and opened it, only to have it almost immediately jump into his arms. He looked into it's sparkling eyes and saw how quick he was to trust him, as if he was a life long friend.
"Well, aren't you the hasty one? You barely even know me!" Jack said in pleasant surprise, and ruffled it's head. He looked deep at it and smiled, "I'm gonna call you Skippy! You like that name?" The Eevee didn't seem to mind, but also really enjoyed having it's head rubbed. Jack held Skippy close to Liara, "Liara, meet Skippy. Skippy, Liara." Jack put Skippy down and the two examined each other and reached at one of the Pokéballs on his belt. "And Skippy this is... ummmm..."
Did I really forget to give Minccino a name?
"This is Jerry." Jack said, letting them sniff the ball about it's life. Jerry didn't know it's name, but it sure was a good one. Jack then withdrew Eevee back into it's ball and invited Liara onto his shoulder before looking to the others. "I'm in for this. I'm Jack, pleased to meet you all."
The sturdy wall of Professor Maple's Pokemon laboratory provided excellent back support as Dennis leaned where he was. Brad had acknowledged his presence and statement when he had spoke earlier, and with confidence, Dennis had joined him at the group's side. With three Pokeballs at his waist, and a solid resolve in his mind, the orange-clad Pokemon "trainer" looked among the other trainers and laboratory aids scuttling about in the large room. The gaping hole in the wall where Team Omega had made their violent entrance caused a sharp breeze, briefly.
Lightly touching the Pokeballs at his side, Dennis mouthed their names to himself as he glanced downward. Gorb, Maverick, and the newest addition to the team, Vona; there, with him to the end. It was an empowering feeling, to possess a growing number of Pokemon, ones which to commit a mutual feeling of cooperation and respect in their travels. Dennis felt a bit overwhelmed as to their actual goal, but Brad didn't seem to be worried in the slightest.
In fact, he seemed rather eager to begin.
Such enthusiasm to help better the world was something Dennis was not used to. Normally, at least in Sandstone City, people kept to themselves and only looked out for number one. To sacrifice time and effort to such a worthwhile cause? Unheard of, where Dennis came from. He was glad to have met somebody like Brad; someone who was willing to go the distance and achieve something great. Dennis could learn a lot from somebody like that. He was sure the others would appreciate this venture as well.
Taking note of this, Dennis became particularly interested in the blue dog...cat-like creature with large ears sitting atop a young woman's shoulder. The girl was standing near the crate containing the Eevee Pokeballs, deciding which to take for herself. She had been there as well, fighting at his side during the Team Omega encounter. The way she had dealt with the enemy Houndour had been powerful and just, as well as determined. It was a notable trait to have, and it intrigued Dennis to a degree.
Pushing himself off of his wall-perch while the rest of the group collected their Eevees, Dennis made his way over to her, wanting to make a good first impression. The creature on her shoulder turned its large head as he approached, its big eyes blinking quizzically at his presence. It was cute, Dennis had to admit. He also knew that the small Pokemon held a great deal of power of its own, based on what he saw from its fight with the Team Omega trained Houndour.
Just to be safe, Dennis kept an arm's-length away, a bit wary should the Pokemon turn aggressive. It continued to look at him with its large yellow eyes, its mouth slightly open in a confused expression. Speaking up, Dennis cleared his throat, not being too awkward about it but letting his presence be known nonetheless. He wasn't going to try anything stupid, he just wanted to talk.
She seemed nice enough.
"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice the amount of control you held in your battle with the Team Omega goon. Your Shinx handled that Houndour with ease. Have you done this before? If so, you're a natural. I'm sure whatever Eevee you choose will be the right one for you. I'm Dennis, by the way. May I ask what your name is?"
Friendly, calm, and not-at-all being a creeper, Dennis removed his hands from his hoodie pockets and let them hang to his side, as a sign of respect. Standing up straight, he stretched a few sore muscles in his back. If anything, he wanted to be known as a good person to this woman. She had her back turned to him, but Dennis had a feeling that wouldn't last long.
Still, he was patient. Dennis didn't expect her to respond right away to a stranger's voice right behind her. She looked to know how to handle herself, having that "country" look about her. Whether she turned out to be an open book or an ice queen, Dennis expressed his demeanor in an overly pleasant way.
The group didn't seem to be moving at the moment, so a little conversation wouldn't hurt...would it?
Jamie followed the group as the young male trainer that fought the Koffing took charge of their group.
Looking down at spark she smiled as they walked into the lab. Gazing at the destruction the grunts made to get this piece of equipment. "It must have been important for the grunts to go through this much trouble" Jamie thought to herself.
The young trainer in charged appeared to be talking to what looked like the professor and another girl by the names of Maple and Lisa.
Jamie smiled softly to the young women and the professor with only half an ear as she was processing all the events that where happening to her in just a short day off her ranch "did they say legendary locator?" No wonder why the grunts wanted it, it sounded powerful?
Jamie thought in her head as she looked at Spark while the little Pokemon looked up at her before jumping into her arms. Placing her Pokemon on her shoulder she giggled to him "silly sparky boy" before she heard the professor's thanks and him going to his machine, watching him press buttons as a large table slid out between open panels in the center of the floor.
Most of the trainers already grabbed their Pokeballs from the table which revealed contained Eevees as she smiled softly.
"How cute are they" she spoke to Spark as the little Pokemon shook its fur like it was disagreeing, Jamie giggled at her Pokemon's obvious displeasure.
Hearing the young trainer leader which he called himself Brad she nodded at his request for help along the adventure, though she was shy she didn't say much more.
"let's go and see who we will add as a team, hey Spark" spark purred happily in her ear while they walked over and looked at the two remaining Pokemon as Spark turned its head to stare at the other boy that came up behind them. Jamie noticed her pokemon's focus was on someone else out the corner of her eye as she jumped slightly and turned once she heard the other trainer speaking to her.
Jamie giggled as she heard his little speech.
"Hello I am Jamie cross and this little one is my buddy Spark" she gently scratched Spark under the chin with two fingers.
Spark yipped happily and jumped down into Dennis's arms and curled happily once the little one knew he wasn't going to hurt his trainer.
Jamie smiled at the obvious trust her Pokemon displayed by settling into the other trainer's arms while she giggled.
"As being a natural, I have been listening to Pokemon hour by professor oak as soon as I could understand and living on a ranch I picked up a few tips of battling by wrangling in reluctant Tauros"
Jamie blushed at Dennis comment that her Eevee would be right for her.
"I sure hope so, as I never want to be anything but the most trust worthy trainer to my Pokemon" with that she grabbed Cosmos ball and threw it softly.
"Come out Cosmo and meet a new friend" with a flash of bright red light, Cosmo blinked happily at Jamie before staring at Dennis. It narrowed its little slited eyes with some mild suspicion as it hanged by Jamie's other shoulder. Jamie was shocked at Cosmos reaction to the presence of Dennis as she scolded her Pokemon.
"You be nice" Jamie said crossly to Cosmo before blushing "I'm sorry Dennis, he is just very protective of me as we have been together since I was 12"
Cosmo crossed its little arms and huffed as she left Spark only for a moment in capable arms to go and choose her Eevee's pokeball. She grabbed a pokeball as it felt warm in her hands.
"Come on out and let me see you little one" Jamie threw the ball as the Eevee burst out with a flash of light and looked up at her.
Eevee: eeeee
Eevee cried happily as Jamie noticed its glossy coat and healthy weight, as this Pokemon was obviously well looked after by the professor.
"Will you come with me and travel and be my friend?" Jamie asked the little Eevee as it shook its fur and looked into her eyes. [right/]
[/right]
Eevee: vee
It cried happily and put its paws on Jamie's pant leg before she giggled and grabbed the little Pokemon into her arms as Cosmo growled at the little Pokemon.
Jamie looked over at Cosmo as she held up the little one in her arms.
"you be nice and don't be a bully Cosmo" Cosmo huffed softly as Jamie looked down and noticed a pink ribbon tied in the Eevee's tail.
"I suppose you are a girl then" Jamie smiled as she gazed down at her "then I shall call you Nera".
The little Eevee yipped happily at her name as she wiggled in Jamie's arms. They walked back over to Dennis once more after attaching Nera's ball to her growing collection on her belt.
Smiling softly to Dennis she giggled " thank you for looking after Spark as he can be a little bit challenging sometimes" Spark looked to his beloved trainer before leaping out of Dennis's arms and settling on her other shoulder as Nera rested in her arms.
Spark tilted his head in confusion as there was another pokemon in his usual spot before she put Nera and Spark down to make friends.
Nera and Spark sniffed each other and scampered around in the grass as Cosmo stayed on Jamie's shoulder, not wanting to have anything to do with the other two pokemon. Jamie smiled softly as she gazed along route 2 and beyond.
Early morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise over Quartz Town. The shadow of night receded as the first rays of the sun swept over the land, bathing the sleepy town in light and raising the people, animals, and pokemon back to life. A few seconds after the sun emerged over the horizon, the first rays of light beamed through the window of a small house on the edge of the town, streaming past the glass onto a small orange sprite sleeping on the windowsill.
Under the warm sun, the sprite began to stir, rolling over and then blinking its blue eyes open, staring out towards the eastern sky. A couple more blinks and it floated up off the sill unfurling two lightning bolt shaped arms from around its body and stretching them out while it lazily floated off into the middle of the room and looked around to get its bearings.
The room was small and simple. Two doors on the same wall opposite the window, one leading out to the hall and open, and the other for the closet and closed. Against one of the side walls was a large dresser with dark wood, a large mirror attached to the back of it with two posts on either side ornatly carved. Hanging off the right post was a baseball cap, one of many that looked just like it in town: the red and white pokeball cap.
The sprite turned to the other wall, much more interested over there as the light in the room began to rise. A small table held just a few items, a lamp and an alarm clock with a pokeball restoration craddle for two balls. Of the two balls it held, only one was closed, the other remaining popped open. Next to the table though was a small bed, only big enough for one person comfortably. The covers were pulled up all the way to the headboard but betrayed the sleeping person underneath by the form. The sprite silently floated over and began to grin as its attention went back to the alarm clock.
The hands were slowly ticking their way towards the 8 o'clock mark, just a few minutes away now as the sprite moved closer, and closer still. Soon enough it was pressing its face against the glass on the front and passed right through, the pokemons body phasing right through the clock. Every bit that sunk into the clock changed it a bit more, the orange sprites color spreading over the silver metal. On the clocks face the hands began to twist and contort, bending into two lignting bolt-shaped arms and two blue eyes suddenly blinked into existance as the minute hand moved one notch closer. Up on top, the hammer that normally struck the bells stretched and straightened into a long orange spike, and towards the bottom of the clock face a small grin spread out. Then the clock struck 8.
"BZZT! BZZT! BZZT! BZZT!" the clock sounded as it danced back and forth on the table, adding the noise of the clattering to the alarm. On the bed, the body shifted a bit before a hand reached out of the covers high up into the air, hanging for a moment before falling like a cut tree down on top of the alarm clock. The snickering clock didn't even try to avoid it as the hand came down on the spike on top, though the spike folded and crumpled under the hand. From the weight of the hand coming down, the sprite pokemon dropped straight out of the bottom of the clock and through the table, shooting out into the room again to watch as the covers were pulled back, and the trainer awoke.
"hmmm...very funny, Mal." said the sleepy human, rubbing its eyes as the Rotom "Malachor" hung in the air snickering. Pulling back the covers, the trainer slipped out of bed and over to the dresser, stretching along the way and pulling open several drawers at once. Needed pants first, some older blue jeans that were faded along the thighs. A shirt in good condition, green with a leaf on the chest. After a quick brushing of the hair, the hat came on next, pulling the bill down and then looking up, giving a smile of satisfaction.
"There we go, how's that look?" Nick asked, looking over to the floating sprite. Malachor quickly took off and did a circle around him giving him the once-over and then stopped in front, giving a nod.
"Tom!" it called out loudly in approval. Nick just reached up and patted him on top the spike on his head.
"Thanks. Now, let's get your sister, shall we?" he said, walking away from the rotom and over to the other pokeball that was still closed. Reaching out, he extended a finger and pressed the white button on top of the red and white ball.
"Castform, I choose you." Nick said softly. As soon as he did, the top half popped open with a burst of light, a beam of light shooting out and arching over from the pokeball onto the bed. The light took form and then dimmed, leaving behind a happy looking, though sleepy, cloud-like pokemon. It slowly opened its eyes and looked up, a smile spreading under the white mask across its face.
"Castform!" she said as she chirped up at him with a whispy, ethereal voice. She rose up off the bed a bit, her tadpole-like tail sweeping from side to side behind her just enough for him to scoop her up in his hand.
"Well, good morning, Aerie. Ready for a new day?" He asked while he lifted her up more and then let her go, the castform taking off through the air with the rotom. They paused for a moment and then giggled together, taking off out the door and downstairs leaving Nick behind in the bedroom.
"Just like children..." He said with a smile and followed them out and down the stairs. Down in the kitchen, both pokemon were waiting patiently for him to arrive, Aerie floating over the table while Malachor floated over by a hand-made machine with two dishes under it looking excited.
"Yes yes, go ahead. You two get some breakfast." Nick said, giving his permission with a wave of his hand as he went to the refridgerator. The rotom called out his name and then dashed into the machine, disappearing inside it. On its own, it looked more like a coffee pot with two dishes underneath. Once Malachor entered it though, the whole machine changed color as if someone poured a bunket of orange paint over the top. The buttons on the front popped into two eyes as the power cord bent into two conjoined lightning bolts and the whole machine shook from side to side. A grinding sound came from within just a few moments before two streams of pokemon food came from the top, pouring into both bowls.
"Form!" Aerie called as she dashed over to her dish, engraved nicely with her name on the side of it and dug into the food, grabbing the peices of food with her rounded arms and tossing them up in the air before skillfully catching them in her mouth. The orange skin on the dispenser pulled together on the side of the machine and then pulled away as the rotom left it, popping out of the machine and coming over to his own bowl, grinning and using his pointed arms to spear his own food, the lightning bolts curling to bring the food to his mouth. Nick, on the other hand, was content to just sit and watch the two of them, enjoying a simple peice of toast while he watched them from the table and reviewed his schedule for today.
"Lets see...today we're going to the pokemon research institute, Malachor." Nick said before taking another bite. The schedule was very full, most of it hand written however the top of the notepad was emblazoned with the symbols for both the Hoenn Weather Institute and Silph Corperation and along the front were places and times, all for repairs.
"Looks like there was an earthquake over in Hoenn and the local institute would like help recalibrating their equipment. You up for it, Mal?" Nick asked as he read off his notes. From across the kitchen, the rotom looked up from his food and waved his arms around in the air.
"Artim!!!" he called out with a mouth full of food. The castform looked over and giggled as Nick shook his finger over at him.
"Now now, don't talk with your mouth full." he scolded the rotom who proceeded to swallow the food with a big gulp.
"Rotom!!!!" Malachor called out again, properly this time. Nick could only laugh softly and rest his face over in his hand.
"Sometimes..." he said and then pushed his chair out to stand. Gathering up his notebook, he went back upstairs while the pokemon finished eating. Back in his room, he got his belt out from the dresser and slipped it around his hips, securing it and gathering up his pokeballs. Both balls closed down easily and shrank to the size of marbles, sticking firmly to the side of his belt as he placed them against the special strip on the belt that attracted them. Even though he never forced his pokemon into their pokeballs, there were places just not suitable or not legal to have pokemon out. It was always better to be safe than sorry.
COming back downstairs, both pokemon were finished eating and waiting patiantly for Nick to come back. He smiled to them and gave them a nod, which both of them took as the ok to leave the table. Aerie and Malachor both zipped out of the kitchen towards the front door and stopped to wait for Nick once more as he came down the hall, pausing at the coat closet just long enough to get out a small bag of tools, checking inside it to make sure he had everything he needed. Pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, snips, various nuts and bolts, everything he needed. Dropping his notebook in as well he closed it back up and then threw the heavy bag over his shoulder.
"Okay, let's head out you two. Remember, best behavior." Nick told them, and both pokemon smiled and nodded, eagerly waiting and zipping outside as soon as the door was opened. Nick made sure the door was locked, just a precaution of course, and then stepped outside as well.
The sun was shining brightly outside, much warmer than in the house. Malachor was already racing around outside while Aerie stayed in the shadow of the house and waited for Nick.
"It's okay, go ahead, Aerie." Nick told her and ushered her forward. She nodded and floated out of the shadows into the sunlight, giggling to herself as she was showered in sunlight. As her body warmed in the light, she closed her eyes and began to shake a bit, curling up until she gave a soft *POP!*. Her head changed color from grey to an orange matching the rotom while small glowing balls growing into place around her head. Just as her head changed color, the rest of her body lightened from a cloudy grey to stark white.
"Castform!" She called out happy as she morphed into her sunny form and then raced forward, joining with the Rotom. Together they looked at each other and compared their orange coloring before coming back while Nick stepped forward. Aerie and Malachor took up on either side of Nick, floating over his shoulders and together they walked into town towards the pokemon institute.
Together, they walked through town to the local pokemon institute. It was about an hours walk, but the weather was beautiful. After an hour though, the building rising up in front of them. Curiously though, there seemed to be a lot of activity here today, but with everything that was going on he wasn't suprised. Just another reason for him to hurry up and get the job done.
"Well, there it is. Aerie, would you mind going ahead and letting them know I'm here?" Nick asked, looking over his left shoulder. The castform gave a look of almost pure delight and dashed on ahead while he walked but hesitated and came back. Nick stopped and she stopped right in front of him until he reached up and gave her a scratch under her chin.
"Heh, it's okay. Go ahead, let them know." he told her, and then off she went for real this time, flying ahead and over the building, coming in through the bird entrance. Nick began walking again and together with Malachor arrived at the institute about five minutes after the castform. The doors of the institute slid open and let him in, one of the institutes assistants already waiting for him and holding his castform.
"It's good to see you again, Nick" the assistant said, letting the castform go. Aerie came back over to him and floated back over his shoulder once more.
"I know, I know, but I'm all over the place. You know how it goes. By the way, Ashley, what's going on here? There's an awful lot of excitement today" Nick asked her, letting down his bag of tools off his shoulder.
"There has been. Some trainers from another region came in here and stole a peice of very valuable technology we've been developing, set off a bomb to try and get away, and because of those trainers over there we managed to get it back." She explained, pointing over to the professor and the trainers he was talking to.
"Oh, wow. Well, hopefully it's all over with now. Is everyone alright?" He asked. Ashley nodded.
"Everyone here is, and those trainers seem to be. Their pokemon might have some minor injuries, but overall we're fine. Thanks for asking though." She said with a tone of appreciation.
"Of course, how could I not ask. But, we should probaby get to work. Malachors all ready to go." He said, nodding off to the side. The rotom floated forward between them and gave an enthusiastic nod, giggling and turning his electric blue eyes up to the assistant, who smiled down at the sprite and tickled under him.
"Right, well I'll show you what we need. There was an earthquake over in Hoenn, you remember, and it threw off their satellite dishes. They've made their adjustments and we've done all we can to get it working, but..." she said as she lead them though the institute, "...we can't get it quite as close as Malachor can."
Nick gave a nod, his attention a bit split though as he looked over to the other trainers. The professor seemed to be giving them a pokemon, catching a glimpse of them as they were released. All of them were eevees. It was hard not to stop and look for a moment, seeing the cute fox pokemon, but he was there to do a job.
"Well, Malachor is familiar with this thing, so it won't take long. Right, Mal?" He asked. Malachor gave an enthusiastic nod and dashed forward. The computer that controlled the satellite was big and hard to miss, and the rotom went straight for it. Without even slowing down, he passed right into the computer and merged with the circuits, following them out of the building onto the roof and into the dish. Once in the dish, he went to work merging with it. The white dish changed color as it turned orange from the center out to the edges. Once it changed color two bright blue eyes opened on the inside of the dish while the antennae in the center reshaped into a bright orange spike. The supporting rods for the antennae bent into lightning bolts and in the bottom of the dish a long thin light appeared in a smile.
"Okay the, looks like he's ready to go to work." Ashley said with a happy voice, sitting down at the computer. She pulled up the calibration data and looked at how much the dish was off before speaking directly to the computer.
"Okay Malachor, it looks like the dish needs to come up and right just a bit." She said. On the roof there was a soft groaning as the large dish moved by fractions of an inch. On the screen, the numbers were slowly coming back towards Zero one digit at a time until the dish was back in perfect alignment.
"There! Stop Malachor, that's Perfect!" She said, pressing a couple of keys and locking the dish into place. Up on the roof, the color began to leave the dish as Malachor pulled himself back out again and flew up into the air, basking in the sun before coming back down. He passed right through the roof back into the institute and dropped through the ceiling only to be met by Aerie. They flew around the ceiling of the room as Nick looked over at the screen with the assistant.
"Another job well done, right?" He asked, smiling as everything on the screen looked good.
"Given an entire day I couldn't have gotten it this good. Your rotom is really something." She told him, turning her chair to him and giving her thanks.
"Yes, he is. I don't know what I'd do without him." He told her, looking back up as the pokemon played.
Name: Nick Panthero
Age: 18
Appearance: A young adult with a rather average in all way. Not very tall, not very heavy in fact rather light without a lot of big muscle structure. Usually wearing a green shirt with a leaf or grass symbol and blue jeans that have seen better days, and usually with a trainers hat. When working carries a bag of tools and wears a belt for holding pokeballs.
Bio: Nick had an ordinary life, going to school with all the other kids but never really fitting in with them. The reason become plainly obvious when many of them began to take an interest in becoming pokemon trainers dreaming of other lands and exotic pokemon. Unlike them, Nick didn't share the same aspirations and dreams, feeling much more firmly tied to Quartz town. After graduating, Nick stayed in Quartz town in his own place, and worked as a repair person around the town. One day, while helping someone who had broken down, a traveling trainer and pokemon sales person, Nick got a chance to buy a couple of pokemon at a cheaper price in thanks for his help, and he came home much happier with two new pokemon, new friends to share his home and his life: Aerie the Castform and Malachor the Rotom.
Starters: Castform and Rotom
Personalities: Aerie(castform) has a very bubbly personality, always cheerful. Malachor(rotom) is energetic, mischievious, and a little impulsive.
Brad looked around at the young trainers, surprised that they all took to his idea so quick, where they just smart and had a desired to join him to stop these evil people. They looked upon him, Without realizing it, Brad had set himself up as the leader of this rag tag group of fresh trainers. 'what have i gotten myself into...' he thought, Zidane resting in his arms, looking up at his new friend.
Brad looked down at the cute little Eevee, Did the little guy think him his master? Brad did not like that idea, Yes, he commanded them to do moves and what not, but They where his friends, not there master. He truly hoped they did not think him that.
Shaking off that thought, he looked around as the group started to socialize, all save for the young man with black hair and a Murkrow, he seemed distant, maybe shy, Brad was sure he would warm up to the group sooner or later.
"So your all going off on your own, to catch those punks?" Maple asked, sliding his hands into the pockets of his long white lab jacket, Holding firm to the PDA. Brad looked around, seeing determined looks and eager faces. "Looks like it." he said, Looking back at the prof.
'I cant let them go alone...' Maple thought. 'but I dont have any lab aids that can go with them to show them the... Wait! He can go!' Allen smiled, running over to A young man, maybe a year or two older then Brad himself, poking him on the shoulder. Brad could barley hear the two talk, picking up only a few lines of there dialog.
"Nick, will you be kind and help these new trainers out, They need someone with experense to help them out" Maple asked the young man, who had the air of a tech, a Engineer, as it where.
"That's a bit of a big request, Dr.Maple." The man named nick said, his pokemon, both looking like ghost types, One being a Rotom, Brad could tell that much, the other, a white pokemon that looked like it was floating on two orbs, had the appearance of a ghost, but Brad got no vibe of dark energy or death from it, maybe it was a man made pokemon, like Porygon.
A few more words where spoken between them, before Nick shook Maple's hand, and walked over to the group, grabbing the last Pokeball, apparently a part of there deal was he gets the last Eevee, did he ask for it, or did maple offer it... He didn't like the idea of Pokemon being 'payment.'
"Everyone, this is Nick, hes going to go along with you to help, hes..."
"No offense Allen, but we really need to head after them, the longer we wait here, the colder there trail gets." Brad said, Zidane looking at Maple, almost giggling at his face when the human realized what Brad had just said.
"We can get to know each other on the way there."
"Right right, Brad, you got my number on your C Gear, call me if you find anything out ok?"
"Got it, Comeon everyone, we got to go, My Allen, Lisa." Brad said, walking over the rubble one last time, the group following him as they walked to the edge of town.
Brad took one last look back at Quartz town, the start of a noble quest began here, one the world needed these young people to do. Next was Route 2, then, onto Geode town, a small little city built into the side of a mountain, many caves ran though the town, and under it as well, if those Omega Rats where going to hide anywhere, Brad thought it would be there.
"Sir, reports coming in from Epsilon team... They have the Locator." A young female voice echoed in a massive room, many machines and transmitters filled this room, which made it all the more impressive that her slender voice echoed so loudly.
"Good, very good, we are one step closer to our goal." A man with a malefic voice said, sanding up, arms folded behind his back as he looked out though a thick plate of plexiglass. He smiled as he watched what was going on, screams and cries of Pokemon could be heard even though the thick concrete walls and thick plexiglass.
"Looks like D1 and D2 are starting to get along, there is less blood this time, despite how different there powers are." He smirked.
"There heading twords Geode town sir, what should I tell them?"
"Tell them to send the Locator though the transfer system to us, and then scatter... after releasing a few sample of 'it' into the local pokemon." he said.
"They have two samples with them sir, D1's and D2's, which one?"
"D2, lets leave D1 a surprise to use with the Locator." he smiled as the mysterious Pokemon known as D1 and D2 where quieted down and taken away by men in full body anti infection suits.
"Soon, we shall be one step closer to our goals..."
Happy and pleased that Jamie was indeed such a nice person after all, Dennis smiled as he followed Brad out of Professor Maple's laboratory. The older gentlemen with the Rotom and Castform stood nearby, and by the sounds of it, had joined their little entourage. Going by the name of Nick, Dennis had a feeling that he would be more than welcome amongst the group. He seemed to know his way around electronics; or a least, his Rotom did. Even then, Nick seemed nice enough.
His Castform and Rotom were cute, as well.
Following Brad, yet keeping his stride, Dennis walked alongside Jamie, by some odd coincidence. After claiming her Eevee and giving her the name of Nera, the country girl had let Dennis hold her Shinx, Spark. The little guy seemed more bewildered during that time, but didn't give Dennis much trouble while Jamie got to meet her new Eevee. Walking alongside her now, Dennis kept at least a foot away but still remained within walking distance as Brad led the group. He hadn't told them where they were going, but for the moment, Dennis didn't care.
Stealing sideways glances at Jamie in the awkward silence, Dennis wasn't quite sure what to say.
His Pokeballs slightly shaking at his waist with every step he took, Dennis coughed. He wasn't sure why he was having trouble forming the words in his throat, but he had never met anybody who had been so openly friendly with him, especially on first contact. Sandstone City wasn't known for it's social aspect, as it was mostly an industrial town. Gossip got around, sure; but other than that, people kept to themselves. Jamie had been nice, and for some reason, Dennis wanted to stick close to people like that.
His voice cracking slightly at his nervousness, continuing to walk as he did so, Dennis finally spoke. Jamie's Abra, Cosmo, turned his head in slight alarm as he approached. Wary, but confident against the little Pokemon. He wasn't afraid.
"S-so...I erm...couldn't help b-but notice that Nera is female, just like my Eevee. Do you think that means anything, or is it just a coincidence? I didn't mean anything by it, I just...well...ah crap. I mean...uh...."
Stumbling over his words like a babbling idiot, Dennis quickly shut up. This had become far more awkward than he had previously expected. He wasn't sure why he was acting this way, as he had never had any issues talking to girls, but for some reason, talking to Jamie tied his tongue up in knots. Frustrated with himself, Dennis stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked straight ahead, trying to avoid eye contact with Jamie just in case she would say...something.
A bit ashamed with himself, Dennis realized his mind was going places he would rather not venture. The focus of his and the group's entire society was mostly Pokemon-based. He shouldn't be thinking about cute girls at this point and time, it wasn't like him. Shaking his head in disgust at his own way of thinking, Dennis focused his mind forward, but still kept a curious eye on Jaime. He couldn't help it.
Both infatuated and disgusted, Dennis Menov tried to keep his mind of Brad's words and what they needed to do. The path he was leading them down looked rugged and rough, which probably meant the next town would be more rural in nature. Hoping to experience some more battle experience at some point, the trainer grazed his Pokeballs once more, a bit nervous.
He still couldn't believe he was doing this.
Legendary Pokemon were beings he had only read about. Team Omega were attempting to control them. The only Pokemon he had to work with were Gorb, Maverick, and Vona. The odds, well, they didn't seem good. Maybe Brad had a better idea of what to do, and maybe he didn't. The important thing was, Dennis had to be ready for anything. Now becoming a bit scared at his constant thinking of countless outcomes, Dennis began to sweat a tad bit, despite the brisk wind. He must have looked so pathetic, having trouble speaking to Jaime and now sweating like a nervous and awkward teenager.
Oh wait, that's exactly what he was.
Now furious with his immature way of thinking, Dennis said nothing more and furrowed his brow, staring straight ahead. There was little else to be said as he walked. Not wanting to wake any his sleeping Pokemon up quite yet, Dennis remained in proximity to Jaime as well as Brad, but remained silent. It wasn't like him to be so intrusive, but Dennis had embarrassed himself with both his words and his way of thinking in such a dire time. Walking and keeping with the pack, Dennis kept his mind stern for the moment, conflicting emotions swirling in his mind like a blender set to "HIGH."
Certainly now wasn't the best time for....whatever it was he was feeling.
Looking at the newcomer with the Rotom and Castaform she tilted her head at the man that appeared to be slightly older then a lot of the group. Not saying anything she waved softly before they started walking towards route 2 once more. Jamie walked happily with the group as Dennis took stride alongside of her. Smiling softly she turned her head as Dennis started to talk with her.
"S-so...I erm...couldn't help b-but notice that Nera is female, just like my Eevee. Do you think that means anything, or is it just a coincidence? I didn't mean anything by it, I just...well...ah crap. I mean...uh...."
Jamie giggled to herself and thought "is he getting flustered? Must not have talked with a lot of people where he grew up".
Smiling she thought about her answer carefully before saying anything because she did not want to sound like the ignorant farm girl she was.
"I think there might be slight chance that the professor put the balls in by the Eevee's genders because all the Eevee's before ours were males" she pondered her own response "but I would love for our Eevee's to become friends, Dennis as they would probably get along better being the same gender"
Jamie smiled happily at Dennis as this was her first friend in the group that opened up and talked to her other than Brad. Looking over she noticed Dennis was sweating slightly and kind of nervous as she tilted her head in slight confusion.
She looked at the group as a whole while they walked as she didn't have time before being ushered here and there and having her first battle. Dennis was calm and confident as was Brad that put her at ease.
Nick looked like he knew lots about technology by his waist belt, she recognized the equipment for electronic repair as her parents had to fix their own radios and home electronics that was on the fritz as most of her neighbor's lived a mile away from her property. Most of his jobs would be far more complex then what she was used to and she was sure that the information would go right over her head.
She noticed his pokemon floating over his shoulders as she shook her head softly where he would find such amazing looking pokemon.
Looking over to Raven she smiled at his quite demeanor hopefully she could get to know him more as his Murkrow greatly interested her and then there was Jack, the last of the party with a very cute Meowth.
Gazing forward to the distant hills, she could feel a presence of something not right as Cosmo murmured into her ear and it grew as they set foot in the town.
