i finished red and silver, but I never caught them all, I just never saw the point. I picked up white the other day and I'm pretty much just getting the pokemon that don't look like shit. unfortunately i've not found a decent water type yet so i've got all 8 badges and i think i've surfed twice.

Well I already got 493 through my Diamond/HG/SS... (To lazy to trade them all to one game just to complete a Pokédex. You know what completing a Pokédex says about you? That you haven't had a girlfriend for a long time.)
Even if I do get White/Black I don't think i could get the motivation to catch them all. 500 is good enough.

where are you from? on my instruction paper thingy it says april 22, and that's only to get this one in-game item you need to get to where this... thing... will be. and you can get this ingame item even before actually playing the game xD

factual: no, i guess not. last version i played before that was silver (the OLD silver, as in, after the original red/blue), so i'd have to get the other games as well.
exclamation: BUT i shall not die before i finished the dex of the hundredfiftysomething new thingies!!

curious: why is it that some say they are too old for this franchise? amused: i didn't know that, if you are of a certain age, you may only play gritty bloody dark-brown-greyish "realistic" ( LOL! ) games. you know. like dead space and modern warfare and maybe starcraft.

I enjoy catching Pokemon. It's never felt like a chore, and if you don't want to do it, you don't have to do it.

Well, I already completed Dex. 1 and 2 and am a few Pokemon away from completing 3 and have a couple of 4 while catching all the Pokemon I can from 5. I skipped over RSE and DPt and restarted at HGSS so it was a pain but now everything is good.

After getting my ass kicked in the second leader battle, I found that I got 14 of the 22 Pokemon I've seen. So far so good. A friend of mine has Black (I have white) so I'll be able to complete the dex easily.

Due to the fact that the games dont' allow all pokemon to be collected from the use of one system and one cartridge minus the internet system they set up... I will not. It's ridiculous to jump through hoops to get handed pokemon.

I might actually do it with generation, I haven't done that since gold and silver. It's a huge pain in the ass, but damnit, I want bragging rights!

I didn't do it in diamond/pearl because I was being completely lazy and didn't feel like jumping through all those hoops just to get them all.

The last (and only) time I tried to complete a pokedex was in Soul Silver. My game erased itself before I evolved 'mon 399 into 'mon 400, which would have completed the original 151 in the process (for the first time).

I'll probably try for the complete unova pokedex, but not the overall thing. There's just too many. Though I may go back to soul silver to try and actually complete the first 151 this time.
