That... may be the single greatest idea I have ever heard in the history of ever.

Seriously, though: that is brilliant. Although, given the time, effort and personalization that went into that, it seems more fitting of a marriage proposal than just asking for a date...

If it would be appropriate to ask that person out to begin with, and they particularly liked Pokemon, it would be really cute. Of course, there are still plenty of circumstances in which it would not be seen as cute at all. It all depends on the people, like everything else.

Personally, if someone asked me out via Pokemon, either I'd say yes or they'd at least win points in my book. I think that would be adorable :3

"yes, My pokemon wants to go out with your pokemon too!
But YOU stay the hell away from me, or I'll get a court order."
That YOU is lv. 98, I wouldn't antagonize it if I were you...
Check again, its lv. 59. The weakest of the lot.
Get YOU away from me.

Damn... I got ninja'd.
Just because someone made a thread doesn't mean The Escapist Staff suddenly stop working, it'd be nice for them I'm sure.

You got to admit, this needs as much exposure as possible because its so adorable.

We can agree on that. :)

I thought this was a wierd idea when I heard it. I still think it's wierd, but I guess you wouldn't catch me playing pokemon, let alone asking someone out over it. Call me old-fashioned but I like to look girls in the eye.

Aha love it. Very original way to ask someone out. I'm willing to guess she said yeh. If she actually bothered loading up the game to see this screen then she is the kind of girl who would be interested in gaming. Someone not interested in gaming wouldn't even bother.

Don't think it would work out quite as well if i tried it meself though lol

That's rather creepy...I'm trying to think of how many women in my office building, school, social settings would find that endearing and not completely sad, or grounds for a pitty hug...zero so far.
I'd work on me..

well at least im not the only one to think of something like this, altho renaming a bunch of characters in DQ9 to do this didn't work for me, so i hope the it worked out for the best for this guy

It just struck me. What if she made a new game?
That would be a 'no'.

...or possibly a 'sorry, what did you say? I couldn't hear you properly.'

Well, one assumes the would-be-sweetheart in question is a gamer, which should take a bit of the "you're a freak" factor out of it. It depends entirely on the situation, I think. Like the guy who rigged Bejeweled to ask his girlfriend to marry him, this could be incredibly sweet under the right circumstances.
A guy rigged Bejeweled to ask his girlfriend to marry him? How did I miss that stroy?! Do you have a link? I have to see things.

OT: This is totally awesome. Seriously, words can't describe how totally sweet this is.
Voila. [http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2008/03/hack-bejeweled/]
That reminds me quite a bit of this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_HMLvLB7b0], but this one is much more awesome simply because it is Chrono Trigger.

OT: How could you say no to that? The question now is, what'd he do for his proposal?

it wouldnt be that hard to do. not only can you change the names of pokemon but it's on red, which means the levels could just be from lots and lots of rare candies in the 6th item slot. its rookie.

What time and effort, you get to Cinnabar Island, use the missingno cheat on the rare candy, collect 6 random pokemon, level them up to 70 - 73 to make it look like you put time and effort.

Still romantic.

That sure is awesome. I sure do hope that whoever gave her that Pokemon game was successful in his endeavors ^~^! It would be a nice ending if the girl accepted his request, and really sweet. Thanks for sharing this ^~^!
