I used to, whenever I got the Elite 4 on Emerald, I used to walk right through it with Rayquaza. Then I realized how much of a cop out it was, and ditched using Legendaries altogether.

I don't play Pokémon nowadays, but if I did I promise you that I would use the legendaries like Charlie Sheen uses cocaine.

It feels weird taking on the Elite 4 and the League using something like Yveltal. I do have an all Ubers team set up but I don't run it unless for online play.

None of the legendaries are my favourites so I don't really use them, and in single player games Stats don't matter so much.

For online I have a rain team I'm working on. Before it was just a water team with a few electrics. Nothing special.

Now I'm trying to get into the meta game more.

I used to use legendaries when I was a kid and didn't really know anything about the game, but I think I stopped using them altogether in Diamond. Hell, the last couple of games I ditched my starter before getting to the first gym to make the game more interesting. I also try to avoid going through the main story using any pokemon I've used before, although I obviously can't remember all of them.

If I like them, sure. The pokemon games are so disgustingly easy that you can essentially use whatever you want, so I'll run with whoever I feel like running with at a given time/playthrough.

In terms of online battling, no, because I don't play ubers, and the vast majority of legendaries fall into that category.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually played any games of the series.

I'd do it, partly because I can. Mixed with "I caught them for a reason, and I can imagine rubbing it into their faces."

I like legendary Pokemon too much to not to these days. It's not just because they have better stats, it's just out of liking them. Plus, now that they are more integrated into the stories of the game, it feels right I guess.

Like in Black and White, you get the box legendary right before you can have a big showdown with the antagonist, it would feel wrong to catch it, and send it away to the PC. There's a big build up to this big battle, so it makes sense to use the Dragon they make you catch. That's the exception of course, but I like it when legendaries have more meaning to the story.

I agree that the level 70 Rayquaza you get in Emerald takes all the fun out of beating the elite four, but most of the time you don't get ridiculously over leveled legendary Pokemon before the elite four.

It also does not help my absolute favorite Pokemon is a legendary so I have to put with people calling me a noob for wanting to use it. :/

Tend not to use a moltres. I have a decent riachu that I use for electric so I wont use zapdos. Articuno is probably the only one id use but its all down to the individual

My team will probably end up as: haunter (hypnosis to put to sleep), charizard (because hes a beast), marowak (ground is immune to lecky), gyarados (good water, stats and a wide variety of moves), kadabra (obviously the most powerful) and riachu (really power lecky attacks with a good speed stat). Speed stat is my most important stat. If I can get first move with hypnosis and then attack quickly with a relevant type I can kill them before they make a move

N.b this is all gen 1 stuff

Not really. Mostly because it's completely unnecessary.

If I may go out on a slightly related tangent, I really wish they would make the Elite Four (And Gym Leaders for that matter) more challenging. Yes, I know it's supposed to be a "kids game", but the Champion shouldn't be the only person to have a full party.

When I was a kid I did, now? I find I've managed to make myself a nice solid team of regular pokemon. It's more cathartic than blitzing it with overpowered legendaries.

Mismagus, Honchkrow, Flygon, Ninetails, Lapras and Espeon have seen me through the Elite four in Soul silver right now.

The recent games I haven't had the means to play.

I'm a lazy pokemone player. I try to catch most pokemans on my way through the game but in terms of combat i usually only use my starter and rush through it in a breeze.
The main dude is usually 20 levels overleveled and just 1-shots everything, so why bother. Specially in X/Y, where the fox (forgot the names already <.<) has a perfect moveset vs everything. Psychic, Shadowball, Energyball, Flamethrower on a bajillion points S.Atk pokimon is probably the most overpowered starter since Swampert for the playthrough.

In the end the Harry Potter Fox was lvl 95 when i knocked out the last pukemon of the champion.

The only time i can remember where i was riding the legendary-train directly through the Top4 was with Rayquaza. Outrage and ~350(?) speed is funny as hell.

Captcha: have fun
Oh yes, i did have fun :)

I just played through FireRed again, and I only used Zapdos. It made me a little sad to ignore the other two birds, but I had no place for them in my team.
Most of the time I do use at least one of the legendaries, simply because I went through the trouble to get them, and dammit, I'm going to put them in fights!

I used to, but these days I prefer to just capture legendary for the Pokedex data, then release them. It feels more 'pure'.

Plus, legendaries aren't always a guarantee. i though I could sweep the Elite Four with Rayquaza in Emerald, but Glacia and Drake put paid to that.

I don't like most of the legendaries, so not really.

You'd snort them off a hooker's back?

Not usually, with the exception of Dialga. This isn't a condemnation, even to me personally, against using them, I just don't find most of them super interesting. In Generations 4 and lower, I usually just soloed it with a crazy overleveled starter. In Gen 5, that's not really an option any more and had a team composed solely of mons I enjoyed (Serperior, Sigilyph, Throw, Golurk, Cophrigius and Klinkklang). Haven't played Gen 6 yet, so can't comment on what form that would take. But I actually like X/Y's legendaries a bit more than the others, so maybe.

Yes. That is indeed exactly what I'd do.

Articuno, pretty much the only Ice type worth using in Gen 1, was my staple "carry" for the Elite Four. I use her (shut up) without shame in the first run, especially against Lance. Then I started doing Elite Four "speed runs"... which pretty much consisted of Articuno and Mewtwo steamrolling everything with Ice Beams and Psychics.

Most other versions I would use a useful Legendary (and Articuno, if she was available) to push through the first time, because fuck grinding, and do a "legit" run once I hit "post-game"... also followed by Uber-heavy speed runs, just to see how badly I could crush them while still being 5-15 levels weaker. (Truth be told, I only used Reshiram/Zekrom because I never bothered switching them out after being forced to use it...)

I usually don't in the most recent Pokemon games I played. I just catch them for the sake of say I got Legendary Pokemon.

I like to make a main team of Pokemon and with secondary group to swap out with mains when needed. Those are the Pokemon I use to beat the Pokemon league. Legendary Pokemon just collect dust in the box.
