Look familiar at all? These are monsters from an online game called Monster's Planet.

It's one thing to try and replicate the success of another company, but am I wrong in saying that is qualifies as a rip-off if not practically plagiarism?

Why is stuff like this allowed to exist? Why haven't they gotten shut down or sued yet?

Pokemon fans, does seeing this sort of thing bother you, or am I just being irrational here and blowing this out of proportion?

Uh... good for them? I didn't even know this game existed before opening this thread, so I'm fairly sure they're not going to be particularly successful.

If they do succeed in this, then I fully expect Nintendo to take legal action.

Saw this on Reddit a few days ago. Everyone was throwing a shitstorm and someone made a comparison:

It's not even hard to see where they took those ideas from. They won't get away with it, so I wouldn't worry or get mad about it.

Just what surprises me is that it's such an obvious rip-off. It's like the designers made no effort whatsoever to change up the designs, like they wanted to get caught. Seriously, what?!

NINTENDO used COPYRIGHT LAWSUIT!

It's super effective!

I like how Donphan, Kingler and Ariados don't even have a single thing about them changed.

Reminds me of that Chinese Mario Kart game that came out a while back.

Interesting, quick google seems to point to it originating from China, which you all know is the bastion of fair and honest copyright use. *giggles*

I'm guessing it's using the loophole of it being a 'free' app to keep it on iTunes and the like, and raking in the cash from ingame purchases. Should be an interesting story if/when Nintendo takes action.

You see people? THIS is an example of where "taking inspiration from" crosses the line into blatant plagiarism. In this case I think they crossed that line and kept going for several hundred more kms. Time for Nintendo/Game Freak to get out the lawyers.

What's funny is the sheer balls of these guys. What's also is they are going to be selling their balls to pay for the lawsuit soon.

I think you might be blowing this out of proportion. I really couldn't care less, possibly because I'm a fan of Pokemon in a "These games defined my childhood" kind of way, not a "Buying everything with a Pokemon label" kind of way. Unless Zynga gets their hands on it, I don't think it's much of a problem.
