I'm thinking about doing a solo run of Pokemon Crystal (maybe to record), but I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what pokemon to use. Feel free to suggest any pokemon (in the first 251, excluding Magikarp) for me to use.

More discussion: How do you feel about solo runs of Pokemon?

Solo run? Wouldn't that require you to use one of the starters? If so I'd say Totodile (in crystal) Considering I did it myself and only used others as HM slaves.

Nope, you can use any pokemon you want. If I get a lot of votes towards one, I might have to use a gameshark to catch it in the first route or something. But yeah, you use one pokemon for battling and the rest as HM slaves.

You can use any starter and destroy people.
The game is unbelievably easy if you're leveled correctly.

Caterpie would be fun. I'm slightly hesitant to use Ghastly because I've already done a Ghastly solo run before.

Sunkern. It has worse stats than Magikarp, but given the right moveset, he should be all you need for the entire game. Granted, he got considerably buffed in terms of movepool in later generations, but do Sunkern.

I'm too much of a sucker for Cyndaquil. Well, to be honest, more Quilava than his baby brother/sister...

So yeah, I say go for Quilava...

He is precious and I love him very much.
That's a good idea. He's awesome, yet also crappy.
DO IT:D. Seriously, he's so damn awesome but...just...genuinely useless:'].
If you do it, name him Munch;D.

Do you plan to evolve the pokemon? Or just use the one stage?

If you do plan on evolving it, I'd say go with Eevee, that way when the opportunity arises, you can make it whatever you want.

If you aren't planning to evolve it, use Ditto. Because then, you get every pokemon, for the price of one! I did a Ditto only run. Kind of difficult, for pokemon.

Well, you need something fast or leveled extremely high, cause Morty;s Gengar is a *****.

Actually, I'd say Dragonite. Its balanced, learns a good variety of moves, and is resistant to ground.

Or Nidoqueen, cause she's got some decent stats across the board.

or Even Smeagle.

Actually, yeah, My choice is Smeagle. That way you can sketch the most powerful moves to him.

It's a shame Shedinja wasn't in that gen, because that'd be my choice for a solo run of a pokémon game.
