I still say its fake due to:
A. Shitty animation
B. Only 1st generation pokemon

EDIT: Oh thank god its fake!
Where is the information on it being fake? From what I see someone put the time and effort to put together an HD trailer with relatively decent CGI (considering the cost of low budget fan made productions) and release it to the world. I don't think there are that many fans (especially with an incredibly and sooo unNintendo western style) who would undertake quite such an elaborate hoax

EDIT: Just found a few things that say the people involved don't want to make a true movie. Shame. They obviously have the ability to. Lets just enjoy this and indulge our imaginations then

EDIT 2: Just realized you meant fake as in not official. Well a thumbs up and a thigh slap with accordion background for you dumb ass, it's been posted as a fan-made project. Not sure how to take the don't want to make a movie info I read though, perhaps that was conjecture too. Ugh the internets piss me off, can they just release the full project before Nintendo carpet bomb them please

I'm not normally a fan of taking something that's made for kids and making it grimdark/mature/super srs just for the hell of it, but that was really well done. If the protagonists of Pokemon ever grew into post-adolescence, it seems pretty likely that this is exactly how everything would go down. I'd watch the heck out of this movie.
...Did you read the Manga?

It was worsed. Pokemon was killed, and guns were used.
Is it still mature in this generation?.....I might start reading it then.
Mature?

I mean, it's all right but they're kids.

Don't let the artwork deter you...It'd really good and oh...The Pokemon Trainers Get to actually FIGHT.

FYI, I am relatively certain Pikachu and all the pokemon were designed with slight differences to avoid copyright issues. Granted, this should be protected under the Parody law. So perhaps he was made to appear mangled and nigh anorexic because he was being abused. Regardless, that is just awesome in so many levels. I would live at the threate to see this repeatedly if it were a movie. My favorite childhood show, dark and gritty? Epic!

Maybe some day The Escapist will approach the makers of some of these short clips to actually produce a full version in episodes as the next "There will be Brawl" or "Doomsday Arcade". :)
Nah, they'll likely just let us vote for it as 'viewer's choice' and then choose something else because the video quality is slightly higher...

It's a damn shame that around this time last year we could have been watching a series, about Pokemon, just like this on the Escapist.

But instead we ended up with Good Knight's Quest.
(Granted it's very well shot and edited, but the humour is virtually non-existent and the first season episodes too short for anything of note to happen.)

I've still not really forgiven you for that, Escapist...

Absolutely love it. My son loves Pokemon, but this is a little too much for him today. In a few years I'll show it to him...

If the Pokemon story was way more serious, it'd happen just like it does in this live action movie trailer.

In the real world, Pokemon don't exist, but if they did you can bet they'd be taken advantage of and become part of an underground bloodsport. That's the premise of an amazing live action trailer for a Pokemon film called Pokemon Apokelypse that doesn't exist, but really should.

The trailer is fan made and took around a year-and-a-half to create. It shows what would happen in a more realistic setting if all the Pokemon gyms were to shut down and Pokemon trainers were forced underground.

This would of course attract shady individuals trying to fix matches in their favor that also employ Team Rocket henchmen. This Team Rocket seems brutally more capable than their "blasting off again" anime counterparts and wield semi-automatic weaponry. Yet the most disturbing part of the trailer isn't the shattered Squirtle shells, Pikachu maiming, or torture of Professor Oak, but the five-o-clock shadow that Ash is seen sporting.

Pokemon Apokelypse was only a side project by a group working on a short film. Sadly, the team doesn't seem to be planning anything else set in the Pokemon universe.

Why can't anything this cool ever come through official channels? I mean, aside from the fact that it's totally contrary to Nintendo's shiny, happy world of Pokemon where getting "X-ed" out eyes is the closest anything comes to death.

Thanks for the tip, WrongSprite [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/WrongSprite]!

Nice... I like dark & gritty redesigns, so this is right up my alley... though seeing Pikachu beat up like that was sorta painful...

I think it looks silly. But, I couldn't do better.

EDIT: The pokemon animation is what I meant by silly. I think the ideas are pretty cool.
