Pokemon going back to pure awesome??

Not really, I think that Pokemon designs started to go seriously downhill with Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. Red/Blue still has the best designs to me.

I agree. The old Pokemon had some competent design philosophy behind them, back before they exhausted the entire animal kingdom. Now it's just like a circle with other little circles attached. I miss the old realistic style where the Pokemon could contain straight lines and angles.

And by the way...i would like you to look back on red and blue and yellow, and you tell me that Jynx, Eggsecutor are better than some of the new Pokemon in some of the newer series.

Every Series has had it's bad, and good Pokemon designs, and yet people are still saying it was the best.

I know it's people owns opinions but when people say the designs were better it gets right on my nerves

I think they should have stopped creating new pokemon right around Silver/Gold/Crystal, and every new game would just really focus on story and up the challenge.

Or make the same pokemon but change them according to the geographical regions they evolved in, for example, an Onyx is 'rock' looking, so if you were to wander next to a volcano, it now would be 'molting rock' looking

Pokemon had a story? I was completely unaware of this.

Its been at pure awesome since it went to Diamond and Pearl
Its just getting better
Red, Blue, Gold, Silver etc. were awesome.

Ruby and Sapphire turned the game into a tutorial (I Thought it was too damn easy)

Diamond and Pearl fixed this and gave us some badass looking pokemon like this guy:

And yes, he is my favorite of ALL of them.

(I have been playing since Red and Blue so no haters please)

Whilst it does have its fair share of stupidsauce, there are some geniunely cool pokémon in there. Still, none like Eevee or Pikachu or Growlithe or Psyduck

Zoroa or whatever it's called looks interesting, but it's only available if you get that event celebi for HG and SS. . . so yah. Other than that the grass starter looks pretty sly.

Personally, and this is NOT just nostalgia, I thought the Pokemon in D/P were pretty good on the whole, anyway LOSING TRACK - I think that those Pokemon all look ridiculous, with the possible exceptions of the legendaries and a handful of others.

Also is it just me or do quite a few of them look uncannily like Pokemon that already exist?

You seem to miss the point. Yes, there are more than 400 animals in the world. It just seems they are content to rehash the same 20 or so. After they get past "bird, snake, reptile, insect, fish, dog, dragon" they are out of ideas. Fair enough the original games had some crap, but they were much easier to overlook when overshadowed by the other 200+ good one. But gamefreak is just plain running out of ideas. Compare, say rattata, to bidoof. Both serve the exact same function in the game as an irritatingly common normal type you will probably catch and not use, but fight all the time. However rattata does not look like a smiling stupid throw pillow. It's not so much the design of the individual ones thats the problem, the starting 3/9 and the legendaries are always going to get their designs lavished on, it's that the design has gotten so lazy that the other few hundred Pokemon per game are either copied from a previous game and changed slightly, or just plain stupid.
