Yes, i do believe if youre in your twenties it's a lil too old to play pokemon
Question: Why? The Pokemon series are simple RPGs to casually play that offer enough complexity for a thriving metagame. What is so wrong with it?
Still a childrens game
Why? I'm curious to hear your reasoning.

I'm going to be 21 myself and I still play it occasionally. I mostly play in Japanese in order to practice. That's more or less my excuse, lol.

Perfect, absolutely perfect.

No, you're in no way too old, silly :3
This.
I'm 18. In fact I'm about to go to EBGames and get the Celebi event for my Diamond, SS, and HG. Love pokemon. It is one of the Greatest strategy games of all time. In disguise though. So shhhhhhhhhhh!

I'm 22 and Pokemon is still the only turn-based game I've ever played for more than 10 min. I get very attached to my Gengars and Magnetons.

Find any RPG that has come out in the last 5 years that is as deep as Pokemon can be.
Sure it looks kiddy, but it still has an incredibly complex metagame. It isn't a "kiddy" game. It less a children's game than Invader Zim is a children's show.

Agreed
and if you look at some of the themes of Pokemon it becomes quite dark and sinister: its a series all about kids quiting school to go out and pouch wild animals. they catch them and keep in small containers, only letting them out so they can be forced to fight in what is basically a cock fight with super powers.
also theres gambling.

I haven't had a game boy type thing in forever, but if I did I'd play the pokemon games. They were fairly good games, regardless of the content.

For everyone who says it is a "childrens" game, try giving a child Pokemon and let him try to hold his own in a meta game. Hell, he doesn't even have to do anything, let him figure out how to work with EV's and IV's throughout the metagame.

Oddly enough while that comic is for the most part true, I actually got back into Pokemon Senior Year of High School.
It was the same year that Diamond and Pearl came out, and collectively pretty much the entire Senior Class came to the conclusion at the same time that since we where already at the top of the Social Food-chain, we could get away with playing it since there wasn't anyone left to ridicule it.

My friends and I have been buying each version since then even now that we're in college.

One other fun little factoid is that I never actually STOPPED playing the pokemon games, and a have actually beaten at least one game of every generation. I just played everything from the original Gold and Silver, to the last of the GBA ones (The Red and Blue Remakes) at home and never in public, lol.

So, take it from another 21 year old gamer, your NEVER to old for pokemon.

Hey the rating on the box says 3+ you fit into the plus catagory perfectly fine heh

Honestly I just wouldnt worry, they are fun games, and this is coming from someone who is 24 and has planned with a friend of his to go out on release day and pick up black version while he picks up white and is fairly pumped over it.

They are fun games and deep RPG's even if they may be wrapped up in a sometimes deceptivly kiddy packaging.

It's sad that you're asking that question.
Personally, as a trainer since the release of Gen 1 and having bought every game to date on it's release date, I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Who cares how old you are? Pokémon is certainly not only a children's game. Not one bit. Besides, we are the generation in which Pokémon was born. If anyone should be playing the games, its us. We are the Pokécraze generation. We are the ones who woke up super early to watch the anime. We are the ones who brought our gameboys to school and "used the restroom" in order to get a little more time with our Pokébros. We are the ones who bought pop-tarts with pokéball and pikachu sprinkles, and cereal with pikachu marshmallows.

This is our franchise! You should be proud of it! You should be proud to be a trainer. Wear your pokéwalker out in public! Play your DS while waiting in line for movies!

And when the day comes, March 8th will no longer be considered just a day, but as the day when trainers far and wide declared with one voice,

"WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN FROM A FIGHT! WE'RE GOING TO TRAIN ON! WE'RE GOING TO BE THE VERY BEST!"

For on that day, we celebrate Black and White's release day!

I still play and I'm 18. First generation player here. BUt its not weird. as long as you still enjoy it, you shouldnt feel weird about it, cause you like the game (i'm going to assume) and thats all that matters.

Today I pre-ordered Pokemon Black version at Gamestop and I found myself wondering "I'm 21 is it weird that I'm still playing Pokemon games ?"
Now let me get one thing straight I only still play the "Main" RPG Color named titles so no Ranger, Mystery Dungeon or other spin offs, I haven't watched the anime since the Johto adventures and I give up long ago on the cards.
I mostly play out of nostalgic value and with my brother and some friends (I also pre-ordered White version for my brother whose turning 13 so we can trade/battle with each other just like we've done with ever Pokemon RPG since he started playing them.

Anyways I wanna know how many older (say late teens and onward) still play Pokemon games?
I'm twenty-three and my mother just shipped me Pokemon: Platinum down to Sydney for my birthday. 'Nuff said.

The first game I owned was Pokemon: Blue Version, actually. I still have it.

Ffffffuck no.

I've been playing Pokemon since I got Red Version over a decade ago. I know many, many people who have done the same. Anyone who gives you shit about it is either insecure or just a douche.
