Right, so I've got a Gameboy advance now with pokemon fire-red and sapphire. Sapphire died on me and I lost all data so I'm playing on FR and I'm at the elite 4. The issue is I'm killed by the same dewgong every time (first pokemon of the first member).

I really need help from a pokemon master, someone who knows what to use and when.

All my pokemon are:
Lvl 21 dratini
lvl 22 paras
lvl 26 hitmonchan
lvl 20 midoking
lvl 25 arcanine
lvl 34 magneton
lvl 25 lapras
lvl 38 venusaur
lvl 20 kadabra
lvl 50 zapdos and moltress
lvl 54 articuno
lvl 52 graveler

The way with least grind would be nice, and recommendations on where to grind would be good
I'm not a total pokenoob so I understand why I keep on losing I just dont know where to level up the pokemon with a chance and the best one for the jobs.

I've always found against Dewgong that Fly is a hidden gem. Stay away from the Aurora Beam! There's a fair few you have there who can use it if you want to give it a go.

See those birds? Put them away. Now. Sure, you could beat that Dewgong with Zapdos quite nicely, but relying on birds when most of your pokemon aren't level 40 is not a good thing.

Trust me, I've played every pokemon game and EV train with each generation. All legitimately.

You need to grind. BADLY. Get Dratini to at least to dragonair. Raise up Nidoking to about 55. If you can, upgrade that kadabra to alakazam and get him to 45+ . Get your venasaur out of the 30s and up to 50s. Your Zapdos and Articuno are good, but dont even bother with Moltres, he is useless as I have seen him. Try victory road for the grinding, trust me you will need to grind. And use that VS Seeker you got near the SS Anne.

EDIT: I always get my pokemon to about 50 at the weakest, and 65 at the strongest before I even try to take on the four. Aggron was a saving grace for me at level 59, got me through Steven.

Luck and pre-planning, I made a note of all the gyms and what I needed to beat them weakness wise. I probably should of done it for the Elite Four in retrospect.

..How did you even get to E4? You should pick one type-diverse team and level them equally throughout the game so that they're all prepared. The fact you have mostly 20-30s boggles me, as does the relying so heavily on birds. How did you catch them anyway with low levels?

Dewgong is weak against electric types. I would take the Magneton against it because thats also a steel type and theyre resistant to ice type attacks.

If you have the EXP share, give it to a pokemon you want to raise then go farm off the various cannon fodder in victory road.

If you dont have the exp share, go get it.

Also drop the graveller, unless you can get it evolved its just going to be an issue.

You also need water, fire, ice and flying types for the rest of the 4. Phsyhic is also useful for the third one, but its difficult to get one in this game.

Lvl 21 dratini ->evolve at least to Dragonair, Dragonite if you can be bothered
lvl 20 midoking
lvl 25 arcanine
lvl 25 lapras -> Lapras can learn Thunder (TM25) and can do quite nicely against Lorelei
lvl 38 venusaur
lvl 20 kadabra -> evolve to Alakazam ASAP
lvl 52 graveler -> evolve to Golem ASAP

You're going to want to round this team up to 45-50 first.

You could train Dratini and Lapras in the rock heavy Victory Road; Nidoking too if he knows any ground moves. Not sure if there are Machokes hanging around in there for your Kadabra too, if not the Cycle Road from Celadon to Fuscia has a lot of bikers with poison types. For Venusaur just surf or fish around outside of Victor Road; any similar level water types should do. As for Arcanine, just south of Pallet Town is a patch of grass with Tangela in, they should do nicely for a while.

Good luck! At 50 your Venusaur should be able to wipe the floor with Dewgong in one attack.

You need to level.
The simple fact is that all but one of your pokemon thats anywhere near capable of putting up a fight has a type disadvantage.

Actually the birds were the last 3 pokemon I caught and I've only really used articuno, I used lapras on zapdos to get it to red them spammed ultras, same with moltres. I think I used gravler on articuno then spammed ultras.

Grind like crazy, and get a fair amount of electric attacks ready.

In all honesty thats what it comes down to is grinding. i.e currently doing my elite four run on white, and I am not facing anyone until my party is universally at level 50

To be honest at that point I would start the game again - you are going to have to do so much wild grinding that the game will just become dull.

But since you need tips - drop the three birds and get a round 50 team of varying types to cover all bases

Probably - graveler, arcanine (even if it's imba), lapras, hitmonchan, dragonair, magneton

Really? Maybe if it used frenzy plant, but still Dewgong has 95 base special defence and 90 HP. Well, Venusaur should be faster and has base 100 sp.atk... Hmm, if it isn't a OHKO you'll probably be Ice Beamed to death anyway.

OT: I would suggest choosing one of the birds, Articuno is probably your best bet, and using it to victory road grind (assuming you have exp. share). I'l assume you have no way of evolving your graveler/kadabra so your Priorities for grid should probably be Nidoking, Venusaur, Dratini if you have a loooot of patience (it needs 25% more exp than average, almost 20% more than venusaur). Magneton is a good bet for Gary's Gyarados and Charizard (assuming you can outrun his C-zard) and something that can take out ghosts would be useful.

To be honest you will just want to choose pokemon you enjoy using, as you're more likely to invest the time in grinding them.

Another good place to grind is One(?) Island, on the path to mount ember there is a spot where you can catch 3 single battles and 1 double in a single vs. seeker charge, and there's a healing hot spring right next to it too.

Your supposed to pick a balanced team and give them all the exp from your travels. If you take on every trainer you should be able to beat every gym, elite 4 and the champion with relative ease. They make the game that way.

So ya... your gonna have to grind now. :p

Hmmm, after reading what everyone has said I've decided I'm gonna either get a gameshark or play though sapphire putting up with endless freezing.

Hey what party are you using?

I just completed Elite 4 on black and I used

Samurott - 50
Haxorus - 51
Galvantula - 49
Conkledurr - 51
Victini - 48
Gigalith - 50

I've since replaced nearly all of that team lol.
serperior - 50
victini - 50
beartic - 48
galvantual - 44
druddigon - 44
krookodile - 45

after the elite four im basically going to have to go and level all the others I caught X____X
damn me for taking this too seriously. xD
