Pokemon RP Slots closed Chapter 11: I'm on a boat!

Magnus watched as Rodney caught the Clefairy...something about him was different. He looked more depressed now than he did when he caught Speedy. He let off an air of internal strife...as if his view of the world had been corrupted.
Team Rocket must've gotten to him. It's a shame to see someone's innocence stolen from them. Rodney is noticing the evils in the world. He's beginning to notice how black blends with white..leaving nothing but shades of grey. Magnus walked over to Rodney and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You want to talk? Come on...you need to let it out...What's on your mind?" Magnus asked his younger friend.

OOC: The following takes place after everyone has caught anything they like in the caves.

They approached the end of the tunnel, as they stood atop the hill, they could see Cerulean City in the distance. They hiked down the hill into the valley below and watched the sun begin to set. They found a clearing next to a stream and set down their things.

"You guys start setting up camp here, I'm going to head into the bush and see if I can't bag us something." He assembled his bow and placed his quiver on his belt. "I'll be back in an hour..or more depending on what I see."
He let Quillz out of her Pokeball and she followed him into the the rougher part of the hills, walking silently beside her Trainer as the two went hunting...

It was another sleep for Rodney, they had caught and eaten some fish from the stream and were waiting for Magnus to come back.

Rodney began to think as he made a turn in his sleeping bag I can do this, no I can't... We can do this, if we all work together then we really can make a difference!....but what if we fail?...what if we all die? What then? Say we stuff up a plan and lead the Rockets to a tighter grip on the world?

Rodney's head was now spinning, through the darkness he managed to make out the shape of a figure, it was Magnus returning with the spoils of a hunt. Breakfast Rodney presumed, he sat up and said in a tone that would not disturb the others and asked "Hey, Magnus can I ask you something?"

Ooc: Good to see your so enthusiastic.

Magnus returned with his kill, a Mareep, slung over his shoulders. He placed it on the ground next to his bag. He opened up his backpack and pulled out a roll of garbage bags. He put these down and heard Rodney ask,
"Hey Magnus, can I ask you something?" He looked over and saw that Rodney was still awake. Quillz walked by and curled up by the remains of the fire to sleep. Magnus smiled at her and then looked at Rodney.
"Yeah...what is it? Something wrong?" He had an idea of what Rodney was about to ask. He turned the dead Mareep over on its back and pulled out his knife. "Here, we can talk while you help me with this. Grab one of those trash bags and hold it open while I disembowel this thing. You don't have a weak stomach do you?" He started to shave the wool from the Mareep's underside so he could make a clean cut. "So what do you want to talk about? I'm listening."

Rodney looked down and said "Well....I mean...what we're doing here..." Rodney was obviously making no sense but still Magnus was listening so he continued and hoped he could form a sentence this time. "Ok, *deep breath* I'll come out and say it, I'm worried and I don't think we can do it, I mean we are just a bunch of kids who are more likely to get themselves killed and Team Rocket is a evil world empire..." Magnus cut Rodney short because he was rambling and said to him "Well you know what?...."

Magnus carefully cut open the belly of the Mareep, making sure not to cut too deep. He pulled out the intestine sac and placed it in the trash bag that Rodney was holding open. He did the same for the rest of the organs, kidneys, liver, heart, and the like.
"Rodney, there are things about the world you still have to learn. The first among those is how to pick your battles." He told the younger boy. "You know why we were able to beat Team Rocket the other day?"

"Why were we able to?" Rodney asked.

"We were lucky, that's how. Think about it. What would've happened if I wasn't able to fool the Rocket Grunts into beleiving I was one of them, or if I had lost to Lucille...do you know where we'd be? We'd be back in Pewter City, wondering how we lost so badly to Team Rocket. But I didn't, and we're not. Now, I'm not saying the luck was the entire cause of our victory, I mean...you all did very well."
Magnus made lengthened the cut in the Mareep's underside to go all the way up it's ribs and around it's neck, he then made more cuts on the legs, along the knee joint. He proceeded to remove the skin from the rest of the body, making sure it came off in one big, clean piece. Rodney watched Magnus while he did this, watching him clean his kill, intrigued by the process of it.

"Magnus, what are we going to do the next time we meet Team Rocket? How are we going to get rid of them all? We're just a bunch of kids..."
"There's power in numbers Rodney. That truth is one reason Team Rocket is so powerful, they have numbers. Not only that, but they have resources, as well as leadership. Yes, we are a bunch of kids...and a small bunch at that. You're right, the next time we meet Team Rocket might not end as well as this time did. Tell me this, Rodney. What makes Team Rocket so evil? Is it their disregard for the law? Is it their abuse of Pokemon? Or is it because everyone says they are evil that makes them evil?"

"What do you mean? Are you saying that you don't think they're evil?" Rodney asked, somewhat surprised.

"No, I'm not saying that. I'm asking why do YOU think that they are evil. Not anyone else...just you. Here, let me give you an example. Right now for instance...I'm cleaning a Pokemon which I killed. Some people would find me a heartless monster for killing a Pokemon. Yet they sit there and enjoy their burgers and their steaks, and other food. Every piece of meat that they eat used to be a Pokemon, But they don't make the connection between what's on their plate and in their pokeballs..."

This one struck Rodney even harder, He wasn't just carrying Chompers,Speedy and the un-named Clefairy. He was carrying species upon species of Pokemon! .

Magnus didn't even wait for his response "You see Rodney, people do what they have to do to get what they want, Team Rocket want world domination so they kill and steal, us? we want Breakfast so we hunt and kill a Pokemon. You getting what I'm saying here?We're all animals when you get down to the base of things. Somethings in this world you have to do, don't let worries or fears get in your way. Have faith in yourself." and with that Magnus wrapped up the meat.Washed his hands in the river, took his leftover share of the fish which Rodney now realised was a Magikarp and began to eat.

Rodney saw the world with new eyes now. He fumbled in his pocket for the Pokeball that didn't have a little drawing on it and let out the Clefairy, he said to it "Faith....that's your name"

OOC: No that's pretty much the point I wanted to get across..I also added some stuff to the last part of Magnus's speech.

Magnus finished his talk with Rodney and sectioned the cuts from the Mareep, making sure to get as much good meat in larger pieces as possible. He sectioned the body cuts and the legs, and stripped the backstrap off of the ribs. He wrapped up the different pieces of meat in bags and paper and put them in a shrinkable cooler he had in his backpack, along with plenty of ice from a nearby snowbank.
He finished his meal and smiled at Rodney.
"You feel better?" Magnus asked cheerfully
"Yeah, thanks Magnus." Rodney thanked his friend, his attitude now fixed.
"Good. I'm gonna get to sleep now. You should too, you look tired." Magnus crawled into his sleeping bag and shortly fell asleep.

?Good morning and what a beautiful day it is in Cerulean City. I?m your local newsman Howard.? Aari opened her eyes and stared at her television. ?Slept it out again.? She groaned. Aari got out of bed and stared at her snoozing Togepi. Aari smiled. Togepi opened his eyes and stared oddly at Aari. ?Hey cutie, ready for your walk?? Aari asked. Togepi nodded and tried to kick its blanket off. ?Stay here, I?ll be a few minutes? Aari said as she ran out of her room and into the bathroom.

After brushing her teeth etc, Aari grabbed a bag of snacks and proceeded outside with Togepi in her arms. ?Nice day, huh?? Aari asked herself. The sun beamed down onto the face of Aari. Aari walked for about 10 minutes through Cerulean City. Aari could see the entrance to a forest. ?You are now leaving Cerulean City? Aari read aloud while looking at a sign. It took Aari a little while to find a soft place in the grass that the sun hit. ?Hungry?? Aari asked Togepi. ?Toge toy? came the reply. Aari sat on the grass and took out a biscuit for Togepi. Togepi jumped with joy as he nibbled the delicious treat.

Aari closed her eyes and lied down on the soft grass? Aari woke up with a shock. She heard a hissing noise and ran towards it. ?Damn it Togepi, where are you?? Aari whispered. She opened up a bush to see Togepi walking towards an impatient Beedrill. Togepi stopped and turned around facing Aari. He started to sing. The Beedrill charged at Aari and knocked her over. Aari screamed and fell to the ground?

The group had finished their breakfast, a fair amount of cooked delicious Mareep, and were walking towards Cerulean City. A mile or so outside the city, the group heard a girl screaming. They ran to where it came from, coming across a girl and a Beedrill. Upon seeing the bug Pokemon, Heather ran full force and tackled the Beedrill, clamping her arms around it in a massive hug.
"OH MY GOSH, YOU ARE SO CUUUTE!" She said cuddling up to the Beedril, which looked extremely confused. Heather pulled out a Pokeball. "You're coming with me cutie." She clicked the pokeball on the Beedrill and it shook and then stopped. Heather squealed with delight as she called out her new Pokemon and proceeded to hug it. "I loooove you!"
Magnus walked over to the girl and helped her to her feet.
"Are you okay? Looks like you took a pretty hard fall." Magnus asked concernedly. Quillz walked over and picked up Togepi and carried him to the girl. "Good girl, Quillz. I'm Magnus..it's nice to meet you." He smiled at the girl.

?Aari? she replied with a smile. Aaris head turned towards the rather odd girl hugging the beedrill.
?You like bug Pokémon?? Aari asked, a confused expression on her face.
?Yes, aren?t they soooo cute?? the girl replied. Aari hated bug pokemon, most of them anyway. Aari focused on Magnus again. She blushed. ?Thanks? she said, ?Guess, I should take care of Togepi here a bit more? Aari laughed.

They started walking back to Cerulean City together.
?I can show you guys around if you want...? Aari asked, secretly wishing they would say yes. ?I mean... I can take you to the pokemon centre, gym and other attractions? Aari was quite interested in these trainers and their pokemon.
?So Whadya? say?? Aari said, blushing again.

[Mookie_Magnus]

"I really don't mind, we could use a guide." Magnus said. "We should probably get to the Pokemon Center first. I gotta get these pokemon back to my brother, we made a deal." He caught Aari staring at him but ignored it. He thought that is was kind of cute that she tried to hide the fact that she found him attractive. "And as for the Gym, Rodney probably wants to check that out later, right?"

"Yeah, I need my Cascade Badge." Rodney said with excitement. "Plus it'll be a good chance to train Speedy and Faith, not to mention it'll be cool to see how Chompers handles battling in the water."

"I don't really mind where we go, so long as we do something." Trevor said with his arms behind his head, walking next to Rosgry who had his arms in the same pose. "You know Aari, I'm surprised you haven't asked about Rosgry yet. Most people it's the first thing they ask about." To which Rosgry replied, "Ros..Rosgry.."

The group made it to the Pokemon Center, they checked in and Magnus went over to the Video Phones. He pressed in his brother's number and the familiar blue-haired boy appears on the screen.
"Hey Magnus, how's my Mightyena doing?" Maddox asked smugly.

"She's doing well, and so am I." Magnus held up two pokeballs in view of the camera. "One of these is Mightyena, and the other is your new Paras. You're welcome, douchebag." Magnus placed them in the teleporter and sent them to his brother.

"Thanks a lot, assface." Maddox smiled.

"I love you too, brother. Oh, did I tell you? Quillz evolved..and she's expecting."

"Oh, that's cool..congratulations. Mach finally evolved...he's a Staraptor now."

"Congrats to you too...hey I gotta go. I'll talk to you later. Love you."

"Love you too...bye." They hung up with each other.

Magnus walked back to the group.
"Alright guys, where to now?" He asked his friends, wondering where they wanted to go.

"You guys go ahead without us." Joseh told them. "Heather and I have decided we're going to Johto. I guess this is goodbye."

"Yeah, Hosay and I are going to Johto." Heather said sadly, yet excitedly. "I'm gonna miss you guys, but we gotta go. We have a long way to travel."

"Well, alright. Good luck to you guys." The group bade farewell to the two friends and watched sadly as they left.

"Okay...now what? Do we go to the Gym or shall we take a walk around town?" Magnus asked the group, including Aari.

Ooc: I see what you did thar!

Rodney nudged at Magnus at pulled him back "Reckon we should tell her, why we're really here?...or more or less the main reason?" Chompers loved being in a city and was dancing and singing all about, making a fool of himself for such a violent looking pokemon. some things never change

?Well...? Aari started. ?They left all of a sudden. Anyways I think we should check out the gym. See if there are some openings for a new challenger. I haven?t seen the sisters in quite a while actually? Aari noticed that she had been talking quite a long time.
?Sorry, if I?m too forward with everything? she lowered her voice almost into a whisper.
?It?s just, I?m sick of the people here in Cerulean City? she looked at Magnus again. ?You guys seem like more adventurous and fun people to be around?

Aari and the others thanked Nurse Joy and left the centre.
?If you guys want to go straight to the gym, I?m afraid we got to swim there.?
Aari pointed at a long river. She could see other people lying or swimming with their Pokémon. ?Quickest way there I guess? She said, rubbing Togepi?s little head.
She noticed that they were talking to each other, well whispering.

?Hey, Aari. Come here for a second? Rodney said politely.
?What?s up?? Aari said, her hand fixing her hair.

Rodney mumbled out "Well I think we can trust you" Aari was confused as Rodney began speaking again "You know the museum save in Pewter?" Aari nodded, Rodney continued "Well that was us, we're going around as normal trainers but we've also all decided to deal with Rockets if we find them" Aari was still obviously still confused.

Ooc: Sowwy, now he's gettin full of himself. Yeah, now it's Spring moving into summer

 

[Mookie_Magnus]

Magnus groaned as Rodney told Aari about what happened. He held his palm to his face while Rodney explained their situation.

"Thank you Rodney...you just told her our whole travel tale, as well as our current situation." He sighed. "I'm gonna go sit by the river."

Magnus looked at the nearby river and saw that it was indeed teeming with people and pokemon.
Not a smart idea to be swimming recreationally in such a fast-moving river. Someone could get taken by the undertow and drown. The stupidity of people is surprising sometimes, they're lucky the river is shallow here.

He placed his bag down and sat down under a willow tree, it's long fingerlike branches dipping into the water below. After a few minutes a Wooper walked up and looked at him. It started to rummage through his bag and pulled out a pokeball. It attempted to take a bite out of it, but it opened up and was beamed inside. Magnus heard the sound and watched as the ball shook violently and then pinged and stopped. He looked at the ball for a moment, dumbfounded at the situation and then he started laughing.

"Oh my god...I just caught a pokemon by accident! That is so funny.." He laughed and talked at the same time. He picked up the ball and placed it on his belt. He got up and walked back to the group, where Rodney was still explaining things to Aari.

"Guys, get this. I just caught a Wooper by accident. The little thing just pulled a pokeball out of my bag and caught itself. Funny isn't it?" He was still laughing a little bit.

Yeah..I don't even have to try to catch a Pokemon. I'm that awesome. ROFL

Rodney had just realised what he had done, but still continued on "Wow really?, you going to bother raising it? it has to be pretty thick and that's not going to bode well as a Quagsire"

They eventually found the river and walked over the to the other bank.
