I would really love to play an RPG that really embraces the Pokemon nature, I think that would be amazingly immersive and fun.

The only thing that I would like is; a more free flowing combat mechanic that isn't turn based.

What do you guys think? would it even be possible to create such a game?

"Pokemon nature"? "Isn't turn based"?

So, you want a fighter/brawler where you gain exp? Like Gauntlet? Or, possibly Monster Rancher?

Pokemon is an RPG. If I had to choose pokemon to change, I'd want a pokemon MMO.

I would like a pokemon mmorpg . Being capable of catching every pokemon , govong them the same base stats / move pools as in the games , and being able to play against other players at will . End game would probably be a variation of the battle tower . The world would consist ove every pokemon game to date . Red blue yellow lvl 1-20 , silver and gold leven 20-40 , sapphire and ruby( lvl 40-60) , diamondand pearl ( lvl 60-80) , black and white , (lvl 80-100), then the battle tower for lvl 100 only .

You could battle anyone ( with consent of course ) , and legendaries would be used in pvp battles only of agreed beforehand ( to prevent everyone using them against people who don't use legendaries). There would be berries and hand held items like in the games .

Ahh a man can dream right?

I didn't word it clearly enough,

I meant it's open world nature, exploration but with a new combat system.

that's just my preference... if it was going to happen and still be turn based I'd still buy it in a heart beat.

So, you want it to be what? Top-down? Side-scrolling 2D? First/Third-person 3D?
but with a new combat system.
Such as? Controlling the individual Pokemon (ie. Pokemon Rumble)? Controlling the trainer and issuing orders (ie. Monster Rancher)?

I'm still waiting for an action RPG where one controls the pokemon in battle.

Or a Pokemon FPS (not that it will happen).

3rd person 3d,

When the game mode switches to combat, you select which Pokemon to use and then control that Pokemon brawler style whilst still in 3rd person (like dragon age style combat) as that's probably the closest I can think of that would actually work...

Oh i forgot to mention , you could level any pokemon to 100 , the levels i started earlier are just for the pokemon in that zone , if you want to level your rattata to 100 go ahead . Yeah , dreams are nice :)

I've always wanted the impossible pokemon game.

A pokemon game in which you are a trainer, but in combat you can directly control your pokemon. I've wanted it because I always ALWAYS wanted to pull the same crazy shenanigans they do in the show and say "DODGE THAT ATTACK!" and then the pokemon just dodges cause the cartoon isn't just a turn based battle. xP

However, the problem would be the vast amount of pokemon. The ideal would be for each of them to have a unique feel and style. I thought this was impossible back when there were only 151 pokemon. Now that I think there's about 600+ it's REALLY impossible. xD

One can always dream though.

Pokemon is an RPG but I'd love to see it in a different genre type. An MMO would be awesome or maybe even a a more in-depth adventure/strategy version.

I want a turn based strategy game with samurai in it, however, that's far too crazy of an idea for them to make into a real game...

Wait, are you saying that removing turn based combat would make Pokemon more of an RPG? What?

Have you ever played Dungeons and Dragons? Dungeons and Dragons is a turn based game.

I know that Bioware seems to have missed this fact by saying dumb things like "jRPGs aren't RPGs". But Dungeons and Dragons is the original role playing game. Generally how much something is based as an "RPG" is how much it resembles the grandfather of all RPGs, Dungeons and Dragons. And a large part of why games like Pokemon have been considered RPGs is because of Dungeons and Dragons derived combat. Such turn based combat. If you've ever played Dungeons and Dragons, it's a turn based game. So removing that is not going to make it more of an RPG.

There already is a Pokemon MMO. Pokemon World Online.
http://www.pokemonworldonline.net/

I only played it for a little bit, and I don't think it's as good as the commercial games for gameboy, but it was decent.

Has anyone played Pokemon tower defense?

A pokemon game with every region, you can choose where to start, or with every starter, and ever pokemon in one region. Also maybe an mmo.

Let get this straight, you want a Pokémon game, in which you are set free into the world and explore as you see fit with a combat system that allows you to maintain full control of the Pokémon's movement and attacks? Is that about right?

Kinda seems like Pokémon: TES Edition. Now would you kindly excuse me, I need to write a few thousand letters to Game Freak pitching the idea.
