So, I was reading the article John Funk wrote awhile ago, and I found myself thinking, should Gamefreak just release a game, where it was completely possible to catch every single pokemon in the game, without cheat devices, special events, or trading (aside from trade evolution) between different versions?

Would this be completely against the spirit of the series? With how completely insane some of the requirements for certain pokemon are, I know more than a few people would LOVE the opportunity to truly catch them all. Some are completely unavailable, without cheating, due to only being released in events.

My opinion? Well,I don't know if it would be a good idea or not in the long run, but if Gamefreak made a Pokemon game like that, I would certainly buy it.

And for those interested, here's the article in question:

I think it'd be great. But they make too much money out of forcing their drones to own at least 4 of their games at a time to get all the pokemon, so I don't see it happening. I have a huge idea for a Pokegame but I think I'll post it via writings some time.

I don't mind mixing between versions, but the event ones really annoy me. Since the series came out, I think there's only been one event in Australia, and that was for Celebi during Gen 2. Either put events on around the world, or get rid of them. Put the Pokemon you get from them in the game. Maybe make it a puzzle to get them, but you should be able to get them all over two versions.

Also, Spiritomb's requirements can take a flying leap as well.

But pokemon is a japanese game , and the biggest fan base ( and most skills players ) are from japan . Thats like saying why don't we host a CoD event in japan.

Spiritomb is a major bastard for that very reason. I had to borrow my fiance's DS and an extra copy of Pearl just to get him...

As for the event pokemon, that makes me hella pissed. If anything they shouldn't have ended the ability to get the special ones over from Pokemon Ranger, or they should make the events more regular so that people would have a chance to get some that they missed.

I still need about 3 or 4 event pokemon and then I have them all...

Still...annoying as hell.

Only ones I have a problem with are event Pokemon and Spiritomb for reasons listed. I don't mind having to transfer between games and even generations. It rewards the dedicated.

Hell, I don't even need to catch all nine billion of them, just give me a game where it's entirely possible to catch and evolve just the first 151 on my own and I'd scoop it up in a second.

Volt White/Blaze Black tackle these issues. the problem is where you put them all, and then also the level limit for balancing.

now, I would enjoy a game like that, but I just dont thin it would happen, and... well, lets just say im not bothered by it the longer it doesnt happen.

I'll tell you what, if they keep making pokemon games the way they have since Blue, I'll still buy them.
This idea, it sounds like a good one, but I still want more new ones. Some are miss, but I really liked Darmanitan. So if I could catch him in newer games I'd be excited.

There were events in Australia for Zorua and Victini from the most recent generation as well, and those are just the ones I know about.

I would love a third-person, almost Final Fantasy-esque Pokemon game, where you can actually go to all five regions. Obviously you'd have to do them in some order, and adjust the others for level balance. But I think it would be cool. And there would be puzzles for all those event Pokemon, or they could even be integrated into the story.

There are quite a few rom hacks geared at just that thing, so I'd imagine the idea has a market.
Take a look at Blaze Black and Volt White if you're curious.
I also like the idea of going to multiple regions, but you'd have wrinkle out a lot of level balance issues.

Victini, I'll grant you, but Zoura required a GenIV Celebi, only given out in Japan and the States.

No. They should have done it with the original 150/250 maybe, but I personally don't have the time to catch ~700 pokemon. They're pretty much telling you to catch them all, but very few people are going to go to that effort.

Events ruin things for everyone. Although, it's a bit better since it seems like they might be completely through Wi-Fi now. However, it sucks for new players. For example, there was neat portion of Black/White that's unlocked with the Victini event, players who didn't buy them game in the first month won't get to play that portion of the game without hacking. I'm not even sure if I'll get to replay it if I start the game over.

Someone also mentioned the Zorua/Zoroark BS, that sort of thing seems neat at first for someone like me who gets the games as soon as I can (And don't live in Europe or Australia apparently). Also, trading at least makes it possible to get legit Spiritombs without all that nonsense, but it's still not the same. I've traded for a lot of event Legendaries and checked their ID's to make sure they're legit, but to be honest, I'm sure even those can be generated. I'd love to be able to catch some of these in game.

This is actually a game I would love to see happen. What some of you are saying is that it all has to happen in one region. Why not start in a small island or something where you get your first pokemon and from there you can head to different regions and catch pokemon from there. In each region you could also get a starter like charmander or mudkip and the other two would be hidden in some small areas in those regions. Or maybe some of the regions crashed into each other somehow and now those two to three regions are meshed into one huge region of all the pokemon from those respective regions and a few new plus a few old cities with slightly different layouts to adjust to the new land formations.

I wouldn't bother, I've never been big on game completion or collecting, but I still love me a good Pokemon game. Always hated trade evolutions though. I don't want to have to deal with some other schmuck just to get my beloved Alakazam. -.-

I say yes we should be able to. While I do know that the original intention was to trade each other and in the process is to encourage us to make friends but the cultures is different in each country.
What I mean is in Japan people can trade Pokemon with each other with ease, heck I read there are like bars/ cafe to meet up and to trade but elsewhere like the US or Uk it's different.
We aren't exaclty that social bunch since some of us may know someone to trade Pokemon with or doesn't have good internect connetion to trade online.
I for one not willing to take a two hours train ride just to meet up at a game shop just to get hold of a rare Pokemon.
