Anyone else noticed the Wii is lately lowering its prices, but still selling less.So I thought,How is Nintendo holding on,just as I resumed my Pokemon Ranger game on my ds,and played for abouttt an hour before going DUH. Is pokemon the only thing Saving DS/Nintendo?

The Ds has a wide variety of games, particularly RPGS and turn based strategy like Disgaea, Knights in the Knightmare, the Advance Wars series, Fire Emblem, the Atlus games, Castlevania games, and so on. That's not counting Nintendo's own huge franchises, like Mario, Metroid, or Zelda.

Pokemon is a big selling point of the system to be sure, but it's not the reason for the Ds's sales.

No Nintendo's savior is Legend Of Zelda. Zelda games usually sell extremely well to it's large fan base. Pokemon is more like 3rd place because Metroid comes next in second place. Mario would be higher up if it weren't for the fact that he gets a new game every 4 months and we are bored of him.

Uh, no. There's also Metroid, Mario, and Zelda on the Wii (with more to come) and DS, along with having fantastic third-party support on the DS in the form of Square-Enix, Konami, and Capcom. The DS and the Wii will coast forever on the backs of Castlevania, Mega Man, and Final Fantasy. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

To be honest, Pokemon's always been pretty low on my list for things keeping Nintendo alive. Nintendo is fine.

The picture is correct. And no it's not the last string. Nintendo is the best console manufactor,(Money terms....) and their franchises(Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc) still sell alot and will keep on selling.

Either way they just released a new Marion on the Wii and a new Zelda game is coming up, so they not sinking anytime soon. The DS also doesn't live only of Nintendo franchises.(Castlevania and some spiffy FF remakes come to mind and the Imagine series.)

It might seem that way, but these are all seperate things that you're jumping to a conclusion on.

"The Wii's prices are lowering." Well, so are all consoles. That's a combination of technology lowering price of production and the demand slacking off when new tech gets older.
"The Wii's sales are down." Really? Relative to what? You might want to check out some actual sales figures, I wouldn't be surprised if the casual gamers are still giving the Wii an edge.
"I've been playing Pokemon lately on my DS." Should I derive from this that because I've reinstalled Mass Effect on my PC that it's saving the PC platform?

"How is Nintendo holding on"? Are you serious? They just got done milking every last dollar out of a group of consumers that will buy, quite literally anything with "Wii" in the title, and now that the fad is slowing down, they are preparing to milk every last dollar out of gamers who will buy anything with "Mario", "Zelda" or "Metroid" in the title.

The real question is, will they stop making games once they have all the money in the world, and if so, will they buy me a solid gold pair of slippers, just for the hell of it?

One day's stock fluctuation doesn't establish anything. Look over the past few days and you'd probably find a case in which the scenario is reversed. What you'd really need if you're trying to use stock data to establish something is really more of a trend along the lines of a few months bridging price differential in the consoles or something.

They will. But the slippers won't fit your feet and will melt into Alien blood 2 days later.

Let's be cool and jump on this band wagon! 8D

Nintendo is actually doing the best out of the three major console competitors.
Along with Pokemon, which is one of the biggest franchises ever created, there are Mario games, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Brothers, and many other games out there that are easily supplying Nintendo with everything they need.

Sony is really only being held up by GTA and MGS right now as its exclusive games. (Last time I cared to check GTA was exclusive to the PS3). When it comes to COD, that's probably where its main source of income lies, which pails in comparison to the mass of Nintendo products being released.

X-box, they're doing okay. With the super computer Bill Gates owning it, there's really nothing to worry about with them, but they're still not the best when it comes to the gaming industry.

Pokemon is, from what I know, the biggest franchise Nintendo has, despite not being as popular or well-known as Zelda, or Mario, and it has become far more popular with the wi-fi adaptation. All in all, Nintendo is doing quite fantastically, despite being forced by law to produce third-party games for legal issues that I felt too ridiculous to remember, and some of them actually turn out to be pretty decent. Scribblenaughts. That's all I have to say. XD

Anywho, that's all. Please do not try to condescend me with opinions. I'm open to discussions, though. 8D

I never really thought of Mentioning Zelda,Mario,Sonic,Ect. Because everyone complains about them being overused with sequels blahblah.(This based on the fact if I made a thread mentioning how great its doing people would Call Mario,Whatever overused)

Anyways I think I have what I need.Convinced the Wii's not going anywhere.

Ever since Sony dropped the price on the PS3 and the 120/250GB consoles came out, 360 and Wii have taken a back seat in sales. I work at EB games and we have maybe 10 Xbox Elites and 15 Wii's out the back compared to over 50 PS3s because of how popular they are.

The Wii is going exactly where it needs to go. >.> It produces a selling product, thus it is where every sales industry wants to be.

Soon as the novelty of these things wear down, nintendo will be screwed. But the thing about the non gamers nintentdo targets is, they have a really long attention span...

After they get Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald re-released on the DS, I'm expecting Nintendo to release a Pokemon MMO style game for the Wii.

if by GTA you mean grand theft auto then it's been multi-plat for a few years now.. and if MGS is holding sony up i'd be surprised, seeing as the damn thing was release 18 months ago, if it's selling any copies at the minute.. what's more likely is the recent release of the slim and the minute price drop is doind it for sony.. unless you live in the US in which case you're already buying xbox again..

You're actually suggesting more people know what Zelda is than Pokemon?

Pokemon and Mario [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games] dominate the DS best sellers list. Zelda isn't on it at all. Zelda gets itself onto the Wii list, but the amount of Zelda games sold on the Wii is basically insignificant compared to the Pokemon games on DS.
