I understand completely. I wanted a Charmander early on in SoulSilver, and someone wanted a level 100 Darkrai for it. Why the hell would I trade that? I've only seen a couple of sensible trades.

that's what friend codes are for! i'd love to get on the GTS but i've never been able to! i even paid £60 on a DSi in the hope that it would work but no cigar

All those reasons are why I use the GTS negotiations in black/white (except that time a Useful pokemon I didn't need for one I really wanted). But the negotiations have their problems especially when you get someone who just started their game and have nothing, also when there's a communication breakdown ( 4 emotes is all you get ) it gets annoying.

Yes, as stated 300 times already in this thread, the GTS is rather well, terrible. It really needs an overhaul on the way it works. Why do I also have to have seen a Pokemon to trade for it? I mean seriously whose bright idea was that? Probably whoever designed the whole thing in the first place
One thing I'd like to see added is a different way to search for Pokemon. For example
Say I have a level 10 charmander and I want a squirtle, I could just say I'm looking for a squirtle and say I have a level10 Charmander, it will then search and see if there's any trades for that.
Heck I'd even make it so you could just say you have a lvl10 Charmander but don't care what you wanna trade for, so it searches for trades that are looking for a charmander (and level) and then you get a list of available trades.
Of course this is just wishful thinking... (Although it could be in Black and white for all I know)
