Its for balancing. Some don't make any sense but some need an inclusion (Fighting types shouldn't be effective at all to water)
So far its fine

In my attempt at trying to put Pokémon types into logic, I just assume that the reason why Bug is effective against Psychic is how Psychic can't read mind of an insect? (However this doesn't explain why bug are effective, maybe the psychic Pokémon over think it against a bug type Pokémon?)

try to think of each Bug move, and why a psychic wouldnt like it specifically...

the only logical one that comes to mind is Attack Order... because there are too many seperate, small minds to concentrate on...

Psychic is weak to Bug because in the first game, it was there only weakness... because dark didnt exist.

its all for balance.
And ghost - even though there was no really good ghost moves and the only ghost type was always poison and weak to psychic...
There is a lot of type matchups that don't make a ton of sense but they're really just there for balance - rock beating flying just gives me the image of a bird flying into a cliff
ghost was weak to psychic in the first game, and did x0 to psychic.

only weakness is bug.
I never actually tried a ghost type in gen 1 or used any ghost moves. That's strange I just looked through the booklet that came with pokemon red and it even says ghost has an advantage over psychic.

Well at least they changed that

I have always wondered why some types are super effective against each other, and wondered if anyone can provide an explanation.
Psychic being super effective against Poison?
Bug being super effective against Psychic?
Ice being super effective against Dragon, but Electric isnt?

I don't know much about dragons so maybe there's something I'm missing about the last one. If anyone can explain the others to me that would be great. :)
Well, if a bug flies in front of a psychic his focus will be disrupted. How are you supposed to concentrate when there is a fly buzzing in your face? As for the dragon/ice/electric scenario, i think it is because the dragons have powerful scales that repel most special attacks, however, ice will stick to the scales.

I was on Tv Tropes, and on the Fridge Brilliance page for Pokemon, a troper had a good explanation for Psychic.

They're all based on children's basic fears, Ghosts, the Dark, and Bugs. Which makes sense in a way with psychology and fears we keep from when we were kids.
i'd say children are less afraid of bugs than adults, though.
I guess you're right, I just tend to think that way having insectophobia.
